People are placing bids above 0.0055 instead of just at exactly 0.0055 and getting the price locked in.

Do they just not know that these new shares are hitting the market?

Is there any way to distribute info about tranches or other important information through MPEX or do you need to check this thread for anything related to S.DICE?

MPEx is an exchange. It doesn't distribute news, that's an entirely different line.

From my perspective the current release is a Public Offering.  The IPO had very clear rules listed on the site.  I guess technically since these aren't new shares they're not a public offering, but since they're new to the market I feel like they are.  I would have liked to see something more concrete and explicit than a forum post for this sort of offering.

The last block was incredibly fun! It was over in the span of 2 minutes. It's a much much better release than the one last night, less drama and more happy people all around.

Alright, that second tranche went MUCH better. I'm glad people had fun with it Smiley Things went smoothly because it was known ahead of time, and I learned my lesson. Investors don't like surprises.

I will do the next tranche at roughly the same time tomorrow (Wed. evening 10pm EST). Price will be .0062 per share this time.

Cheers and thanks for all your feedback.

havelock buys what they can on the evorhees dumps and puts an ask on havelock 0.01 above the price they got, filling the bids. They said they'll do it again on next dump.

I'm slightly annoyed at the way this is done, btw. It'd be better imo to just put up a spread of asks. This feels like the fucking silver market.

Holding shares forever is not absurd. It is my retirement plan.

Unless you mean "It is [a small part of] my retirement plan", it is absurd.

Maybe he only has small plans to retire.

See fcmatt 's post.

many dividend investors live off the dividends and carefully pick stocks which have a multi decade history of paying and
raising dividends. In the early years before retirement they simply reinvest the dividends with no charge and as they hit
retirement they change that to cash payout via dividends.

there is nothing absurd about holding coke shares and many other predictable companies until you die.

The Coca-Cola Company has paid a quarterly dividend since 1920 and has increased dividends in each of the last 50 years. The dividend payment amount below is the actual amount paid per common share.
http://ir.thecoca-colacompany.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=94566&p=irol-dividends

i think they are a safe lifetime bet. I am unclear, if stocks are a small part, what in the world are you investing in right now
besides bitcoin and sd? bonds? gold? unicorns?

This is indeed true, even if they be "good" surprises.

We did buy some units from this offering.  We bought 120,000 of the 1,000,000 (12%). It was posted ahead of time in the "updates" section of the fund on our site, so people knew in advance how it was going to work. We needed about 30,000 more to satisfy all the bids in our order book at the time, so I apologize I didn't snap up enough... I think people placed their bids on Havelock at the last minute so my guestimate was a little low.

They were NOT released as a "public offering" - they were done in the exact same way as MPEX - on the open market with a LIMIT price, where higher bids get filled first, down to the limit price.

We'll do the same thing tonight, using an amount guestimated from the open bids in our orderbook.

Cheers,
 James

This was posted to IRC about a day ago or so
Topic at the moment was "retarded whales dumping money at sdice" or something like that.

let it be known their are still 85million shares that can be "DUMPED" in this fashion at any time!
kinda scary...

what is the reason behind this anyway?
why dose evoorhees need that much bitcoin?
seems to me their is no reason to be selling 15% of s.dice... it would be more profitable to just keep all the revenue for themselves, in ~2 years they will have made as much money as they did selling shares...

I missed on that one, lots of greedy (like puppies, not Scrooge McDuck) folks wanted to give you extra money, and who can blame you for taking it.

I'm out for today since someone was nice enough to dump at .0060 on BitFunder AFTER the .0062 announcement last night...
