Sorry, didn't mean to sweep this question under the rug. Roughly 500 visitors per day come to SatoshiDice.com. 2/3 are returning visitors, 1/3 are new.

Quote
players don't even need the website to play - you can just copy the bet addresses in a text file and play whenever you want.

Sure, Bitcoin nerds like us will play this way. But people aren't buying S.DICE based on an expectation of growth from Bitcoin nerds. They are buying it on the hopes that SatoshiDICE will receive a large influx of average Joes (of which there are many more than Bitcoin nerds) who want to gamble. These noobs cannot be expected to copy and paste bet addresses, or even run their own Satoshi client node.

In order to reach the desired parabolic growth, SatoshiDICE needs an easy to use web front end. The front end on Blockchain.info is an example of that.

We still have no decent way to estimate the impact of a domain seizure. It is claimed that a domain seizure will have negligible effect but I believe otherwise.

There is already integration with Blockchain.info.  I'd imagine that's part of how Blockchain.info remains a free service.

The 1.5% they are raking in for anonymizing coins probably doesn't hurt. The percentage is more even than the sum of what MtGox charges on both ends of every transaction. Considering that MtGox expenses are far higher, it's overpriced. There's definitely room in the market for a competing anonymizer.

Coinbase seems to be a blockchain.info clone (or hybrid of Blockchain and BitInstant), so maybe they'll clone that feature too Smiley

Coinbase is a Flexcoin clone that doesn't have Flexcoin's interest.

Kinda, but they pay it out using the 0.01 BTC/TX fee they charge, so it's negative-sum.

Where are the dividends? Huh

Dividends are paid monthly (see the contract specification details here: http://polimedia.us/bitcoin/assets/S.DICE_Prospectus_Summary.pdf and will start after the first full-calendar month of trading (I read this somewhere, but can't find the link), so my guess is somewhere early October ?

http://polimedia.us/bitcoin/mpex.php?mpsic=S.DICE

See 2.2 e and f

The P&L statements will be released no later than 5th of each month

But I also read a quote from Erik that it will be the first dividend will be paid after the 1st full month after IPO, which makes sense, somewhat

That google doc will be updated somewhat casually and was mainly set up to communicate information during the release of these shares. There will be a more formal, once-per-month update and subsequently the dividend amounts will be paid. As per the contract, the first month of dividends started on Sept. 1 and will thus be paid on Oct. 1 for all money earned in Sept.

Please excuse my momentary threadjacking  Shocked

We distribute 70% of collected fees to users with account balances (Greater than 0.00000000). The 70% of fees are divided proportionally to your account balance. We will be moving to a fixed interest system in the near future to simplify both the payouts, AND the explanation  Grin

You may now return to your regularly scheduled SatoshiDICE IPO thread  Grin

Bonus Announcement - As a thank you to all the current shareholders of SatoshiDICE, I've paid a bonus dividend as of today. This dividend corresponds to August's earnings. 7,861.57 BTC was earned in Aug so 786.157 BTC were just paid to the 10% tranche in MPEX. And yes, since not all of the 10% Tranche has sold yet, much of this payment went back to my pocket... you snooze you lose Wink

Please note: This is purely a bonus, since the contract stated dividends wouldn't start accumulating until this month (Sept.).

Thank you shareholders and enjoy! I'll continue working hard to increase the value of your holdings.

Wow!  Glad I bought in to the pass thru last night!

I may need to bite the bullet and buy an account on MPEx to reduce counterparty exposure.
