Yes, masternodes work perfectly on Linux (Ubuntu in particular). Not sure there are instructions for this coin, but the process is the same as most other masternode coins, aka Dash or BitSend. The collateral is 112 8BIT, thats the only difference.

Also, masternode.conf cannot be used with the current source, but that is easily fixable, if anyone needs, I can send the instructions to patch the source.
Please send instructions

Heh, to write good instructions, I have to spend a lot of time, which I don't have unfortunately. To write bad instructions, I need much less time, but I don't want to write bad instructions.

However here is a good guide here for setting up ChainCoin masternodes: http://chaincoin.org/Setting%20up%20a%20Chaincoin%20Masternode%20-%20draft%20v.04.pdf
It is too detailed to my taste, but is a nice one. With some understanding, you can follow it, while replacing ChainCoin with 8bit where needed. Or just read it, to get an idea on what needs to be done. The first part (setting up a VPS) is completely generic, and can be followed blindly. The second part - needs to be adopted for 8bit. Volunteers welcome.

thanks, I was referring to if you could send the instructions to patch the source
The configuration of the generic mastery that I know, but what I asked for is what you offered previously

Sure. Will send it tomorrow (its late night here, and I am not at my pc). Remember - this little source patch is only needed to be able to run many masternodes at once using "masternode.conf". I suppose you should already know how to use masternode.conf, so will just send the small code patch.

I have configured arcticcoin nodes so I think it should be the same operation?
Thanks, I'll be waiting for the patch.

I am about to purchase a linux/ubuntu VPS to run this masternode on (5 masternodes at once). Couple questions.

1. Is IPv6 mandatory or it should work fine with IPv4?
2. The VPS plan I have my eyes on includes 250GB Transfer. Would it be enough if I'm only running the masternodes?

Thanks!

Connect = node04.8-bit.ga
Connect = node05.8-bit.ga

But what are the correct nodes of the long chain? There are several and I do not know what to write in 8bit.conf?
Thank you for your answers

IPv4 should work perfectly fine.
Regarding the 250Gb plan... I am not sure, but seems to be good enough. My VPS is using around 20-50Gb, while running one 8bit node and many other stuff.
So 5 MN should use way less than 250Gb. Thus, unless you are going to backup the 8BIT snapshot (it is about 1.5Gb) every second day, you should be fine.

But, well, this is just a recommendation Smiley. Measure your daily bandwidth, for a couple of days after deploying, just to be on the safe side.

Those are the files to speed up the process:
https://mega.nz/#!30skgB7A!Re03_aY5lhlpBr_r_xf8fCXAX67ivpC2vErL5-GybNk

It is the snapshot of the long chain made by me three days ago. Better use it, as I doubt you will finish syncing in foreseeable future without those files Smiley
Enjoy!

Has anybody else had issues xferring coins off of Bittrex? I attempted to xfer my coins from Trex to Cryptopia. Trex says completed but 3 days later I still don't have my coins.

07/14/2017  8BIT  316.77351547  Completed

TxId: d8113a0518de9c1d6d6a9bbf842ecc011d56ad343c91727c91cfacf22ddf030f

Trex now shows 'Wallet Offline - Network forked'.

Thanks in advance!
Bittrex is on the shorter chain thus recent transfers might be invalidated. We are working on it.

Is it true that 8bit masternode requirement will be risen from 112 to 1024? This rumour is going around
