has anyone got upto date block link

Here a copy of my blockchain updated until today a few minutes ago

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0Gr5ybixzEETVU3bndNc2VmeVk/view?usp=sharing

Just put your data in the 8bit.conf file
And leave the rest like this, I recommend opening the ports that they assign, that will speed everything and the connections
finally this worked wallet is sync now thanks alot

i dont use the masternode yet then i have to open my port i know that
but for only to use the wallet you never have to open any port

Just my 2 cents on this discussion:

opening the port on firewall is definitely helpful, because that way you allow other peers to find you. If you don't open your listening port, you only see the peers which your wallet actually finds, but you miss the other peers which can potentially find you (particularly the ones sitting behind a NAT router)! So if you open the port, you will end up with much more connections.

The default listening port is 18888, just for your reference...

thanks for your 2 cent  Wink
but if my firewall was blocking the wallet i would not have 8 connection on the wallet
plus i change nothing now only the files from  teosanru and all works now
if i setup the masternode offcource im adding that to the router and firewall
lets hope cryptopia fix there wallet soon so i can add the coins to my wallet

I didn't tell your specific problem is because the port is closed Smiley
I just tell that if you open the port for incoming connections, you will have much more than 8 peers...

Regarding this - "but if my firewall was blocking the wallet i would not have 8 connection on the wallet":
Your wallet was able to find peers just because your firewall allows outgoing connections by default + you had many addnodes in .conf.
I am kind of a networking expert (probably not the biggest one in this area though Grin), so I have some idea what I am talking about Smiley

Anyway, glad it works for you now. Hopefully Cryptopia could open the wallet soon (in fact they closed it mostly as a precaution, as there wad no obvious reason to have it closed, as they were on the right chain, unlike Bittrex).

I have an up to date wallet but my 2000 coins are missing from bittrex withdrawal.

Bittrex is on the wrong (short) fork. Their wallet is disabled for few days already, so I assume you did this withdrawal about a week ago. I also have coins on Bittrex, but didn't withdraw them, as I tried with small amount first, and saw them going nowhere. We can only hope Bittrex will re-sync to the correct (long) chain and resend the transactions. You could open a ticket with them. I have one opened ticket, they were answering initially, but after I offered them my help with re-syncing to the correct chain, I got nothing in reply. Hope they don't just discard our coins after they delist the wallet. Undecided Bug them, so they don't do it

Thanks for the reply. I've already withdrawn the coins, are they lost forever? What if I sync the short chain wallet? Can I recover my coins then?

No, syncing to short chain is not a way to go... You would get your coins that way, but will be unable to send them to wallets on the long chain.
I don't know whether you lose your coins or not. I don't even know whether I will get my coins out of Bittrex or not. That all depends on Bittrex and their good will. One thing I know for sure - they definitely can re-send your coins to you after they re-sync to the correct chain. Technically your coins are not lost (just because coins cannot be lost on a blockchain), they are still in the Bittrex wallet Smiley

Hey. It's hard to find my last post where I quoted you atm because I'm on my phone. But could you please have a look out for it? We have 8bit slack and telegram and we want to bug Bittrex to relist 8bit. What should we tell them? Can you join us?

Thanks!

Thanks for invitation, but I am not too talkative and avoid using Slack and similar tools, as they could be too time consuming to me, given my writing and reading habits... I think you get what I mean Smiley. What refers to Bittrex, I assure you - they will not relist 8BIT now, forget about that. That is against their practices, and also with the current chain they will always be afraid of new forks. Maybe later, when/if completely new chain will be ready (the one 8-bit-party is promicing), they can relist it, but its too early to talk about that.

As of now, the only thing we can request from them - is to resync to the longest chain, and resend all the withdrawal transactions they did while being on the wrong chain. They were planning to remove 8bit wallet, and we have to ensure they dont do that prior to allowing everybody withdraw their coins...

Speaking about exchanges, instead of pressuring Bittrex to relist 8bit, its better to work on listing 8bit on a couple of new exchanges, so we dont depend on Cryptopia so much.

How to go about this? And what exchanges would you recommend that would also increase the volume?

Edit: We have chosen NovaExchange, Liqui and CCEx so far. Could you give us a hand in getting the required number of votes?

Dray,

would you happen to know the algorithm used to mine 8bit, the total supply of coins and coins in premine if any. We are trying to get a listing on NovaEchange and this would be a great help.

Thanks in advance.

P.S.: it would be great if we could contact you through telegram, slack or some quicker way instead of this thread.

We have tried adding the coin on Nova, Liqui, but there are fees. We need the dev to submit the coin himself. Especially that the Nova fee isn't even too high.

We are looking into cc-ex now. Do you know exchanges that are free to list and vote for a coin?

Cryptopia is on the correct chain, the wallet is locked, meaning you can buy but not withdraw from the exchange, but it is getting sorted.

As far as I remember the algo for mining 8BIT was SHA256D, but as it is full PoS now, its not that important.
The total supply is now 1265379.18618273 coins (according to moneysupply shown when I run getinfo on the sync-ed node). So 1.27M coins total at the moment.

There was no premine at all on this coin (as can be seen here: https://bitbucket.org/8bitcoin/8bit/src/01db6031e6506ac8d5779ec8a69889b1646b65de/src/main.cpp?at=master&fileviewer=file-view-default#main.cpp-1134 or here https://github.com/8bit-dev/8bit/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L1134).

Sorry for not being always online... I am here to help, but response time could be not that remarkable Smiley. I am not the dev, after all Tongue

Yeah I appreciate you, many people are trying to help but we can only get so far without the Dev. Cryptopia has disabled withdrawals for days now. We have contacted them repeatedly, the members in our slack & telegram community. They have just responded:

Alec J:
Hi Alec

Thanks for the information but we do not use bootstraps or blockchain snapshots. A coin has to be to able to sync correctly and completely from its network.

Thanks

Cryptopia Support

This problem is vital, there are 2 things we need to do.

1. The DEV needs to read this and sort out this issue with Cryptopia support. We have not heard from you in a while ruring these crucial times. @8-bit-party Your invovement in this issue is crucial.

2. We have 5o work on getting the coin listed elsewhere. As the dev is not here all that much, we need to find some exchanges that would list 8bit for free, subject to voting. Any ideas what are some of those exchanges? So far we have tried a few but they are all askins for fees (0.1, 0.9, 3 BTC). This really is the responsibility of the dev. We have offered to help but we have to find exchanges that do free listings

We need you around here DEV @8-Bit-Party. Our coins are locked in on cryptopia right now - We can't have that and not be able to set up and run our MNs. Everyone in our relegram and slack communities are worried and upset at this situation. Consider this matter urgent!
