May 1st is the estimated day we change over to multi-algo. That obviously will be a big day! The same day we will open up the http://isx.is exchange so every Icelander can, for the first time in history, acquire a cryptocurrency directly with Icelandic krona. Another big milestone I would say. We expect a lot of local media attention once that happens and surely many more media moments will follow the days after. And a week after that special day we are going to announce another major step towards general adoption of Auroracoin in Iceland!

Also, you said you ''expect'' lot of local media attention, but what if you dont get that coverage? what makes you to be sure you will get that attention?

We have a complete media campaign ready and press releases are being send out on time. There have been several media companies that have asked for updates already as well, so we're good. Also don't forget this: Currently we are working on a detailed marketing plan that involves real commercials in Iceland. We are (rather soon) going to start a campaign with huge posters in all 100 bus terminals around Reykjavik, which will look like this: The terminals have over 5 million driveby's a week! This means that in one week most people have become familiar with our logo and name. It also makes Auroracoin something that is real. Once we start unfolding our releases to the press people in Iceland are going to say "Hey, I saw that at the busstop before" Rather then "Hmmm, some internet thing from a couple of nerds".

When did your coin copy Digibytes Multi-Algo? Is AUR the 2nd coin to fork to it?

When did your coin copy Digibytes Multi-Algo? Is AUR the 2nd coin to fork to it? First multi-algo was Huntercoin, with 90% of rewards mined using the Huntercoin game built in the wallet, 5% Scrypt, 5% SHA256d Second was Myriad, with SHA256d, Scrypt, Groestl, Skein, Qubit Third was Saffroncoin, with SHA256d, Scrypt, Blake256, Groestl, X11 Fourth maybe Parallelcoin...? Scrypt + SHA256 Fifth I think was Joincoin? WIth many algorithms Sixth was DigiByte, the same algorithms copied from Myriad, but they used their own difficulty adjustment method. Auroracoin will copy DigiByte, the same algorithms as MYR, plus DGB's difficulty adjustment.

Auroracoin will copy DigiByte, the same algorithms as MYR, plus DGB's difficulty adjustment. We indeed used the repo of Digibyte to build our new codebase. We have done this with consent of the Digibyte team and are grateful for their cooperation. Meanwhile we also acknowledge that most of the Digibyte code has been provided by the Myriad team, so we are, by proxy equally grateful to them! I like to repeat we chose this multi algo path because it seems to be the most stable, safe and fair option to distribute the Auroracoin ledger. Our main focus lies with general adoption of Auroracoin by the Icelandic people, we are not a coin that wants to re-invent the wheel al over, we want to provide the means to get a decentralized currency in the hands of Icelanders.

Well, actually the busstop campaign will start on april 26th Has this been paid for? How are you paying for this? Like almost all development costs, the dev team personally advanced the funds for this. We had to because of the short timeframe we had to order one of the few open spots on the bus companies calendar. We do however plan to have a crowdfunding from the Foundation's M1 fund among Icelanders to pay for it. This way we can get more AUR into the hands of the market we target to support.

Working close to these guys, I have to say that money is never a limitation. I always push for them to use M1 funds - and they always end up digging into their own pockets to get stuff paid-done.

Thanks for the tip Parano! We have been looking into these kind of video's and they are indeed very handy. We are planning however, to do real professional video's from within Iceland. You see, most initiatives take the easy route to promote themselves with these cheap (yet effective) animations. We want to get past that and what better place to shoot real video's than in one of the most beautiful places on earth? I guess we're just lucky we focus on Iceland
