I'm from the second smallest city/country in Asia. Yes a city and a country - Singapore. It is a first world country and.. I believe more than 50% of the people here know Bitcoin. I remember there was lot of "Bitcoin" in the news in the 2013/14 Bitcoin bubble. Slowly.. there is less and less news when the price keep on getting lower..

Question: is bitcoin still widely-known in your country as it was back then? Well I did a Google Trends analysis about bitcoin and it seems that the attention about it diminishes over time since the 2013 ATH of bitcoin's price.

I'm not sure. I rarely talk with people about Bitcoin. I remember I saw one physical outlet with 'Bitcoin accept here' on their glass door. Well.. that was in the Bitcoin bubble prior. Yes, only once.

Looking at my local thread, there is still people who use Bitcoin in Singapore.

Well that's still good. Smiley

Are there still any exchanges in there in SG wherein you can trade bitcoins to fiat and vice-versa? Here in the Philippines, there are many exchanges and most of them are still in service at the time of this writing. Also, there are different facebook groups here in our country wherein Filipino bitcoiners talk about the current situation of bitcoin, the economy and whatnot.

Yes there is. One of them is CoinHako which I just know them few weeks back in the local thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=214887.640. When I Google for Bitcoin.. there will always be exchanges advertisement came up. I rarely (I mean.. never) click on them. This is because I'm using other oversea exchange which have greater volume.

Oh speacking of Bitcoin ATM. If I'm not wrong, Singapore was the second country to have Bitcoin ATMs. And we have two Bitcoin ATMs! Never used them as I dont need them.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

Hi!  Smiley
How BTC bitcoin developed in your country? Are there many people in your real life that you know that use BTC ?

No from my 300+ facebook friends only a couple know about it from what I can gather which is a shame I only have one person in my family who has any interest in it. Looks like we are the outsiders lol

My country is a baby kitten in the middle of the rail road tracks that sees the BTC express barrelling towards them at a 100 mph.

I live and work in both the North and South hemispheer. In my home town, Bitcoin is well developed, with a lot of ATM's and merchants accepting the currency. It's a whole different story, when I work on contracts in Africa. The 3rd world countries are clueless when it comes to Bitcoin, BUT they do use digital currencies in the form of M-Pesa.

When I go to Africa, I feel like a alien on another planet. You get so used to having the comfort of using Bitcoin every day, and then suddenly you have to go without it for a month or two.

After a while you get used to it, and you start to use M-Pesa too or just fiat cash.  Grin

Hi!  Smiley
How BTC bitcoin developed in your country? Are there many people in your real life that you know that use BTC ?

Bitcoin is running at a slow pace in my country. I live in somewhere in south east asia part  Smiley . There are about 10 % of the entire country population that use bitcoin, for trading and other purposes and like 20 % of the entire population that know it . There are only 2 Bitcoin ATM here and only thre BTC-fiat exchange here , which two of them is not popular and only 1 exchanger is reliable for the exchange to fiat

As for me , I only know few people that use bitcoin, in my university especially my major, there are only two people that know bitcoin, me and my friend which I teach him about

No, sadly hardly anyone uses btc here. Im not saying there are no bitcoin users, but they sure are just a few. There was an outbreak when bitcoin price was
jumping into hype, but that lost traction soon after, along with the price.
Any particular reason why you are interested ?

cheers

In my country very least people are aware about the bitcoin as a virtual currency. And it makes me worried that though my country is technology advanced but still many of them don't know what bitcoin is all about. So I am just worried that would be the future of bitcoin in my country.

Thats true same is the situation in my country but I am sure that govt will not be supporting the fact of btc as they support the fiat currency more as they are the owner of that currency and they are holding the power so they would never support the bitcoin as a currency.

I'm in the UK. I've never met anyone else who uses BTC and because no bank will give a crypto company an account, the scene is pretty pitiful compared to elsewhere in Europe and the US.

That said there are a couple of big and useful companies that accept it but it's not where it could be in comparison to elsewhere.

Here in Turkey, there are two exchanges. And a restaurant in Istanbul is accepting bitcoins.
But it is not seen as currency by law so it's tax free.
Other than that it's not known much around here.

I am living in South-east Asia, and my country is sometimes regarded as the Bitcoin capital of Asia.  Grin There are several ATMs here, and also there are many shops and bars / restaurants which accept payments in Bitcoin. The government is also pretty much relaxed about crypto. But even here, Bitcoin is known to only 1% of the general population. We need to make it more popular.

Nice to meet another SEA user at Bitcointalk. Hmm.. if the country you live in have several ATMs, why only 1% of the population know Bitcoin? I'm thinking that they might know Bitcoin but they just dont use it.

In my country very few people knows about the bitcoin. But the fact is they don't use bitcoin as a mode of payment and I haven't seen any places where they accept the payment in bitcoin so thinking about the ATM's would be the disaster and still many have not even heard about the bitcoin.

Nice to meet you too.  Grin

The percentage who might have heard about Bitcoin might be higher. But I am certain that less than 1% knows for sure what Bitcoin exactly is, and what are its advantages. There is a lot of negative propaganda going on currently. It is very difficult to counter all that.

btc is still allowed and unregulated here in UK. But no bank will service you, so you've either got to move to another country like Denmark or find an innovative way to get around this

bitcoin is not so well known in my country. I sometimes read some topic on forums about mining but nobody seems to be interested in bitcoin that much.
also if anyone wants to earn bitcoin they use faucets for a while and give up afterwards!
