the use of a pistol does need control because it reduces the crime of using a gun. like my country the use of a pistol must have a license from the police. only certain people can have pistols so crime using pistols is very small

In my area guns reduce crime significantly, and more importantly they change the methods of criminals behavior for the better.  Since nearly every household has guns of various sorts, criminals try very hard to only target vacant properties and we have surprisingly little confrontational crime.  The effect is that we citizens can sleep at night even though official law enforcement is very minimal.  Often only one sheriff's deputy is on duty for 1200 square miles.  This saves a great deal of money.

There is a much larger police force in the town but they don't service the rural areas.  In rural areas neighbors watch out for one another.  At this moment it is known that a person who cases areas to organize burglaries has been seen.  No real big deal.  We keep an eye out for him and other meth-head types who work for him.  These types of people tend to kill themselves and their friends at a rate which keeps their population stable and manageable even without the help of law abiding citizens.

I personally feel that one of the main driving forces behind the push to dis-arm citizens here in the U.S. (and in other countries) is simply to try to make people more dependent on the state.  It is interesting that in my area and other areas like it, some of the biggest advocates of private gun ownership are the sheriff's departments themselves.  Often the sheriff is an elected position.  This actually seems to work out quite well relatively speaking.

ISIS is the example of what would happen in America if gun control were implemented nation-wide.

The Wealthy’s New Status Symbol: Armed Bodyguards On Vacation

When Upper East Side dad Michael planned a French getaway for his family this summer, his first move wasn’t to book a hotel. Instead, he contacted armed guards.

Each morning in Paris, Michael (who requested a pseudonym because of privacy concerns), his wife and their 10-year-old son would stroll out of the Hotel George V, where suites can go for $5,000 a night, to meet their personal security detail: two strapping ex-military men who cost $2,000 a day.

“I’m not a worrywart,” said the 38-year-old, who runs a lending fund. “But once you start having kids, [you want] peace of mind against terrorism.”

Wealthy New Yorkers are increasingly turning to hard bodies to protect them during European vacations, particularly in cities such as London, Paris and Berlin that have been hit with high-profile terrorism, say security experts.

“I can’t fill them fast enough,” said CASS Global Security founder Shawn Engbrecht of requests for vacation bodyguards.

Rich people are hiring bodyguards to go to Disney World

“Our summer was huge . . . on the heels of what happened in Paris and London,” said Paul Viollis, CEO of Viollis Group International, a global security firm. “We’ve gotten maybe 20 new clients.”

His firm offers multiple layers of protection — from security drivers and armored vehicles with bulletproof glass to vacation bodyguards. But in the case of a suicide bomber or a truck plowing into a crowd, what can a bodyguard even do?

Engbrecht says it’s all about intel and prevention.

“The venues [where terrorists have struck in these cities] are absolutely predictable. We make sure [the client] is not sitting in an outdoor cafe at [the wrong] times,” based on intelligence gathered from governmental and private contacts, said Engbrecht, who charges up to $1,500 per day per guard. “When we go to Paris, we avoid the large concerts or venues where there are people in a concentrated area. We avoid anything that can be a target.”

Guards are also trained to take down an active shooter, if need be.

“They can’t predict a terrorist attack, but they can advise you to avoid an area where you shouldn’t be,” said Michael.

His team acted as “sweepers,” with one walking in front of the family and one behind. Each day, the guards would go over the family’s itinerary and warn them against vulnerable spots such as the Eiffel Tower on certain days.

Of course, the gun control should be. I think that the weapon should have only the police and military.Otherwise, we cannot avoid violence.

Bull.

I don't know what country you are in but here in the USA there are more guns than people. If you made them all illegal today do you think all the violent criminal would turn theirs in? Of course they would not. All it would do is take guns out of the hands of law-abiding people and leave them to be defenseless victims against armed criminals.

Actually it is just the opposite. An armed society is a polite society.

I have owned guns over 30 years. I have never done anything aggressive or violent. I carry my gun daily but I go out of my way to avoid confrontations but should someone ever attack me or my family I am prepared.

What's my opinion of gun control?  Well, it should exists.  It should be very strict and there should be some kind of screening for those who want one.  Thank you.

We see the results of a very flexible legislation regarding the guns in the US. So guns have to be very controlled, it's the only way to reduce it.

And almost all over the world there are Americans with guns.  Or a more common current permutation; people who are paid and supplied by Americans (tax dollars) and who have guns.  That should give you a little clue about why we have a 2nd amendment in our constitution, and why some of us 'cling bitterly' to it.

Guns are made for one purpose, and that purpose is to kill.
I believe that guns are not weapons, they are tools. How they are used is up to the person holding it.
Guns are especially dangerous in the hands of people who don't know how to use them (i.e., kids and teenagers) as well as those who are mentally ill and/or have a temper problem.
Gun control will not stop violence because a violent person doesn’t need a gun to be violent.
After the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, support for gun control increased dramatically.

Generally in America, the support for gun control has outweighed the support for gun rights.
Are gun control laws constitutional?
What would be your ideal set of laws regarding firearms?

The gun must e sold in right ages. It must be in licensed like the license of car. Before getting a license of gun, the holder must be trained and educate as well. It is better of they will undergo seminars. And ofcourse there must be a great punishment for the mis used of guns.

In addition, it is Americans with guns that are keeping America free from government takeover.

When Americans keep themselves free with guns, they are an example to citizens of other countries of the world.

When governments in other countries become too slave-making of their citizens, the people call in the Americans to help, because they see how free Americans are because of their guns.

The only reason why there is slavery in the world, and the only reason there are oppressive governments is, people around the world are brainwashed into the idea that guns are bad. So, they throw their guns away. And then their governments make slaves of them.

Then America reminds them that they are free if they have guns to uphold their freedom. And they get guns and fight.

If people of the world had an ounce of brains, they would all get guns and be free.

Guns are completely outlawed in Mexico yet they rank as one of if not the most violent nation in the world.

Why can't you people get it? If there was some gun control measures that actually worked to keep the guns out of the hands of criminals I would be ok for it but the fact is they don't work. The guns are already in circulation. You can't undo that. Do you think a gang banger running around killing people gives a shit if he violates some gun law?

Gun violence is bad. I agree. I wish we could stop it. More gun laws isn't the answer though it doesn't work.

I think that gun control is necessary but in moderation. In fact, many people use guns for self-defense.
