The bitcoin isnt going to replace the U.S dollar anytime soon. The government wouldn't let that happen. and im pretty sure cash is easier to deal with in person.
Bitcoin can only function as alternate currency, but it will never replace US dollar. US will create digital version of Dollar in the future with full control over it. Every attempt to replace dollar with other currency will be shut down exactly as Liberty Dollar were destroyed in the past.

When people talk about BTC replacing the USD, they are talking about Bitcoin becoming the reserve currency of the world. The US government might find it difficult to impose its will in this regard.

Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:
http://cointelegraph.com/news/114983/coinbase-ceo-bitcoin-will-replace-dollar-within-15-years

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?

The bitcoin is just another way to see the money, but in reality is just a "cryptocoin". Fiat currencies draw their value from being backed by assets or by central banks. In contrast, bitcoin draws its value from scarcity in that there are only a limited number available in circulation or from mining operations. Bitcoin is not dependent on any change in value of underlying assets, such as gold or silver, but is backed by the basic market principles of supply and demand. so I dont think so homie.

Wow you must be out of touch with reality, or you missed the last 80 years of banking history:

Quote
Fiat currencies draw their value from being backed by assets or by central banks

This statement is so wrong that i dont even know from where to begin. Fiat money is not backed by anything and it can be counterfeited into oblivion. The central bank basically swaps treasuries into currency, and both instruments are a mirage.

Sorry but fiat money has the same value as the paper it is printed on it, anything more is just a big delusion that people bought into.

Yes bitcoin is still a quite small market to replace any currencies in the world so bitcoin will be used as a alternative to the fiat currencies always and it will not replace any existing currencies.

Bitcoin won't replace the dollar anytime soon until the FIAT currency begins to crash. The majority of the populace use FIAT currency over Bitcoins, and I assume they'll have a hard time getting into it.

You assume right.. Remember how long it took you to get used to it? Me personally speaking it took me a good few weeks, now if we have a fiat crash the last thing on peoples mind is going to be a computer code. We need success of fiat to have success of bitcoin imo

About the bolded part. Fiat currencies have “value” because governments of the world say so. Fiat means decree, order or mandate, fiat currencies are not backed by anything.

nope i dont think bitcoin will replace dollar anytime soon unless bitcoin will be held and owned by the government

which will never happen unless the dollars lose its value and collapse, as it is right now the only hope for bitcoin is becoming a good alternative there is no other way, the same as paypal is an alternative to credit card payment

Bitcoin will not replace government-owned currencies. Not in the near future.
Bitcoin will be a wonderful alternative to them. Will be the payment to access the best public ledger. And it will (continue to) be an asset.

Bitcoin doesn't need to replace any Fiat currency in order to be successful. There is enough of room in financial world for both, Bitcoin and conventional financial systems. This is what many 0rople don't understand.

Half of the world is unbanked, without an access to the bank or bank accounts. These are just some of the people that Bitcoin can help. Not to mention badly organized financial and banking systems in the world that Bitcoin can change or at least make them improve themselves.

You nailed it, bitcoin is a heavens send for institutions, ONGs and bank transactions systems, Bitcoin can provide transparency in a  world filled with corruption.
Imagine a world where CEOs can no longer lie to their directive boards, faking numbers and altering the books...
Imagine a world where anybody can SEE their government's money being send to the right departments.

Hmm yeah. No.

The limited supply is not a problem at all. It is a misconception, in truth; You have a supply of 2 100 000 000 000 000 satoshi, and more decimals can be added.
Its method of creation and protection is secure, a lot more secure than fiat.

The biggest thing that prevent it from being adopted is Governments. Since they can't print/control it at will, its not fit for a government that which to control its currency.

Thats hard to imagine.

Government like printable money that can be used to endlessly bribe the voters.

Its very hard to imagine one that will settle for a limited supply currency...
and usually a country will appreciate the original currency of the country, because it has a long history. and probably bitcoin will be the secondly currency or at least as a back-up

Anything is possible especially bitcoin has very big future. I can see bitcoin in the future being widely used just like a fiat and eventually replace dollars. I'll keep my faith on bitcoin Smiley
