You are right. Union Berlin doesn't have a squad strong enough to win the title or top the points table. However, they have been playing consistently well since the start of the season. And have been able to hold the top spot at the table for a long time. For this they deserve praise. But if the Union Berlin management had spent some money and formed a squad with more talented players, maybe their performance would have stabilized and they could have fought for the title. Union Berlin being at the top of the Bundesliga League was just like an elephant being on top of a tree, we don't know how the elephant got there but we know it will fall.
I have been supporting Union Berlin to remain at the top of the league but now bayernmunich is at the top, it will be very very difficult for any other club include UB to see the top. I do not think it will be so easy for Freiburg. They are playing internationally this year and that is a double burden. So far they can compensate that well. But in the second half of the season they have to play 19 times in the Bundesliga. On top of that they have the DFB Cup. So there will be a few match days when they will struggle.

Union Berlin they are now in the third place. They are far behind because of their poor performance in several matches. But if Union Berlin can perform well in a few matches then Union Berlin can move higher in the points table. And if they perform poorly then they  The points will go to the bottom of the table. Freiburg is such an amazing team. I like teams who don't have hundreds of millions in the bank or huge outside investors and yet they are able to compete for the international qualifier ranks. I thought they just were very lucky during the early phase of the season, but they are proving every week that there is real quality at play within their team, an outstanding motivation and mentality. Streich is repeating his performances as a coach almost every season and when Freiburg sucks for a couple of months, Streich doesn't get sacked by their management. That is a great attitude compared to all those other rich clubs. This proves that mentality and consistency can also get you quite far.

That was well phrased and their confidence isn't going to decrease with every point they are winning right now. When they had their draw against Hertha with a 2:2 and then the 5:0 loss against Bayern some weeks ago, I thought that's the moment when Freiburg might more or less fall apart. Not like falling down to relegation rankings, but I certainly didn't expect a solid winning streak against Bremen, Schalke and Cologne with goal stats of 6:0! That is what really impressed me and they deserve to be in the table where they are.

There upcoming game against Leipzig will be a hard one, and that is one is quite a preliminary match point even though the season is still very young. Distancing Leipzig by 8 points or letting them get closer to 2 points is a huge difference. I wish them the best for that game as their budget is about 15th rank out of the 18 Bundesliga clubs. They are indeed quite good this season and not only in the Bundesliga but also in the Europa League they are firmly at the top and this clearly makes them more confident and of course gets a pretty good profit from a financial point of view for qualifying for the next round in the Europa League.

Everything is very predictable, this is what I said before, that Union Berlin will soon start to lose points, Bayern will regain their leadership in the Bundesliga.
