There was some excitement in this year before the halving when price crossed $750 level and everyone was hoping that it will touch $1k at halving but unfortunately it didn't happen so lets hope that milestone will be achieved in next year.

Yeah it is 5th October already and I could not say that 2016 was year of bitcoin. Yes it showed it's biggest price in summer, but the story with Bitfinex Hacking crushed this rise a lot. And still bitcoin is not so popular and known among all mass of people in the world, that factor also doesn't allow 2016 became a year of bitcoin. I think we will call some year as year of bitcoin if some country will accept bitcoin as currency and banks will accept bitcoin as any other currency.

Well that is a good prediction for the benefit of many but we all know it is really hard to see that. Just by looking at it now it is just at the same level and it is taking long again. We should always be ready to what might happen this year.

2016 highest achievement price of about $770, cmiiw. and this is indeed the highest price from the previous year. so it could be said years of bitcoin, but I think every year prices will continue to rise, so each year is also the year of the bitcoin.

People here are different and thus have different definitions of what is being considered the year of Bitcoin.

For me personally the fact that the price has reached nearly $800 back in June, made it for me a more than profitable year, and thus it can be seen as the year of Bitcoin for me.

Other people might see technical upgrades as something that can make or break a year, but overall, it's more price related.

Even with my little knowledge and exploit in the world of Bitcoin one thing I have discovered even going memory lane to the best of my knowledge is that every year is always a year of bitcoin as so many new innovations are being introduced so likewise other infrastructures and exposure being experienced day by day then I came to the conclusion that not only 2016 but 2017, 2018 etc.

How do you call a year of bitcoin?

For me 2016 is already a year of bitcoin because we have witness and seen that there is a big progress as evidence by the abrupt price increase, if you will look at the figure you can tell that we have a good increase of price this year alone.

I am shocked too hear this. Lets suppose someone introduce a new concept and service, like a sidechain that provides a company a place to move its own private currency around, smart contracts so that you can guarantee that your coins are only spent when you receive your "x".  The new services that should be making waves in the non-crypto community and within don't get the use and attention because too many people didn't understand the foundation below it. 

Only than bitcoin popularity may be little low.

So you are not satisfied with the current price level? I hope you remember what was the price last year and if you compare to it current price then its almost double the price, and I think this is a good year for bitcoin.
