I'm thinking the combination of the new S7 batches and the Avalon account for a lot of the increase. I also think that it's possible with winter in the northern hemisphere people are starting to turn on extra miners that help offset heat costs but man 100ph. These high diff jumps are going to hurt ROI but at least BTC prices have gone up to help soften the blow a little. I'm hoping that things start to level off really soon.

Add Bitfury's new miners they made for themselves & KnC still adding miners (not sure if they got their 16nm out yet, don't think so) & there's the majority of the added hashrate I'll be looking to a new coin that's not corporate run very soon BTC is for big business, not the masses anymore............. I also believe that those guys are ignoring transactions that are feeless, wouldn't surprise me in the least...........

Anyone getting: Unknown error: null When trying to order the 1600 watt Power Supply? It's been this way for weeks.
I belive you have to pay with BTC not USD I'm using the bitcoin payment option, but it gives this error. I do see it listed in their shopping area as: 140 USD ( 0.397 BTC )

How come we aren't seeing listings on bitmain's website for used S5's? I would have expected they would be switching over their own farm to S7's and have a bunch of S5's to get rid of.
Because Bitmain sold all their S5's as new to users. The one my Dad has, that's not working anymore looked like it was mining for 3 years. Dust all over it. The fan barely started properly and there were burn marks on the PCB board. Setup an RMA indicating we wanted new hardware. Shipped the used one to them, and they sent another used one. Gave up. NOW it goes bad. At that critical time where you want all the GH you can get. And, yet, people still keep buying from Bitmain!

It could be because we have got to the final design change with Batch 8? Rich

I'm sure a lot of people are like me. I just mentioned this in the S3+ thread, but Bitmain hit a pinnacle when they made the S3. They had low noise, low heat, and high hash rates with decent power draw. If they had included a power cord it would have been a perfect machine. We all loved it and bought them. Now alot of our purchases have to do with brand loyalty. We expect quality out of Bitmain. The problem with the S7's is they're hot, loud, and they pull enough juice to burn down your garage. If Bitmain would redesign the S8 as an S7 with the sound profile, heat sinks, and ease of use of the S3 they'd have a long term winner. Quality is an expectation. Also, and Rich points out in the S3 thread, they should move back to the Buck Converter. This balls to the wall all the electricity you can push design is not a long term solution.

ROFL.. had me laugh here bigtime.. 'Quality out of Bitmain'...... Are you even looking at what you're typing? Also brand loyalty only goes as far as company loyalty to their customers. Which Bitmain has ZERO. Plain and simple, people buy what will make them money with no scruples and pride... Some of us have those things and give Bitmain the middle finger. I rather invest the money I would have spent on the miners and as of now have a 40% higher return already. To each their own though. ps. BITMAIN ANSWER YOuR GDAMN TICKETS!

What loyalty did Spondoolies have? I don't see any rigs available from them... Plain and simple, people buy what will make them money with no scruples and pride...
I have pride enough to know they will back their 90 Day warranty no scruples about it; to know they have delivered an excellent product. What's wrong with making money? Are we supposed to secure the bitcoin blockchain for free? Some of us have those things and give Bitmain the middle finger. I rather invest the money I would have spent on the miners and as of now have a 40% higher return already.
Good for you. So, I see you are all about making money as well. However, you make yours with prejudice towards those who will secure the blockchain that you make money off of. pfft... To each their own though.
Yes, to each their own. At least I'm not prejudice towards home miners who will buy rigs [From those who actually sell to home miners to help decentralize the mining network] and demean home miners who will buy rigs from a company who will sell to us. You make your money your way [Without criticism from me] and I'll try to make money my way [Hopefully, without further criticism from you].

I got my stealth B3 miner yesterday from when the B3 page went live again last Friday. Hashing away at about 4.85 avg with an error rate of .0018% at 49 - 53 degrees and 600 Mhz
While i love the fact that the miner is filling my upstairs with heat, my wife still says its look loud overnight locked in the far bedroom overnight. i understand if i go to the 'Advanced Config' tab and increase the frequency it will go faster and void the warranty. if i drop the frequency, will it slow the miner down, reduce the heat and therefore fan speed and NOT void the warranty? thinking about just trying that overnight.
Thanks, Mark

Manually reduce your fan speed. You should not have it on auto anyway. If you're seeing temps in the 40's, you could probably lower your fan speed to around 30-40% and it will be much quieter without having to reduce the hashrate. Just try to keep the temps in the mid 60s or lower.

...now we have to settle for airplane turbines
Improvise... I'm sure you can think of doing something to contend with the "airplane turbines." Not even the S3's were designed for home mining if a home miner sought to have considerable hashing power for a home. There would not only be sound to contend with but also lots of heat. I know cause I had 18 x S3's along with 6 x S5's, 5 x S4's and 15 x SP20's. I suppose BITMAIN could make a smaller miner with less hash rate. However, I'm quite certain people would complain about the price of the miner and the rise in difficulty to boot. Bottom line: If someone chooses to mine from their home [With a considerable amount of hashing power], they need to come up with a plan to deal with the heat most of all; as well as a plan to deal with the noise. I came up with a plan to deal with both and implemented it. Yes, it was an initial up front investment but it has paid for itself over time. Even data centers have an initial up front cost to deal with sufficient power, heat distribution and noise distribution if they are concerned with noise. One needs to be concerned with the heat more than the noise in my opinion. I would also think it is Bitmain's prerogative to make their miners as they seem fit. If people don't like them, they don't have to buy them. Bitmain, designed them for "their" data centers. If someone wants to build a makeshift data center inside their home like I have, they can manage the heat and the noise to acceptable levels. Bitmain, is marketing to those with data centers when they engineered, designed and built the S7. It was not built for those who wish to have a considerable amount of hashing power with several rigs in their homes. I think its unfair for anyone to criticize the business plan of a business that caters to a particular clientele (data centers) and demean them for not molding their business plan to home miners. I still say the home miner can be profitable [With some up front costs]. Once those adjustments are made to mine from your home, it would pay for itself in due time. Probably about a month or two after ROI on your rigs. Don't think I'm saying you are criticizing Bitmain. I know you're not. I'm simply encouraging you and others [Who will mine from their home] to come up with a plan to manage the heat and the noise. Mining closet built downstairs to contend with the heat and noise. French doors are at the entrance to this room the mining closet is built in to contend with the noise. This structure can easily hold 90 - 120 x S7's. However, I would probably have to upgrade my exhaust fan to a TLI 14,700 CFM belt driven fan.7400 CFM facing the back yard to exhaust the heat inside of a 422 Cubic Feet Structure:Grilles installed in the doors to allow the exhaust fan to suck cool air into the structure for the rigs to suck cool air into the intake fans and out to the 7400 heat exhaust fan. More grilles will be added in other doors as more rigs are added. So again, don't think I'm getting onto you for your comments about the "airplane turbines." I'm simply trying to encourage you and others to "Improvise" if you want to manage a considerable amount of hash power out of your home with rigs that are designed for a data center. Mine was designed and built with the idea of having as many as 90 to 120 rigs inside [Depending on the size of the rigs]. If your idea is something smaller, you could build something smaller on a stand in front of a window with a fan mounted to the window. I'll post a diagram for a design in front of a window on a stand if you like. Just give me the size (measurements) of the window with measurements of how far the bottom and top of the window is from the floor. David

100 x S7 = 120 kW !
How many seconds are time to ignites fire, when the fan stops ?
Do you actually think your negative connotations are getting you anywhere? Can one not have the means for power to shut off if smoke or fire is detected by a smoke/fire detector similar to a data center and fire extinguisher system installed that does not use water but smothers the fire with CO2 that leaves no white residue behind to ruin the rigs? The same thing is used in a mobile data center. What the hell does 120 kW have to do with the amount of time it takes for a fire to start? If done safely, there does not have to be a fire at all. EDIT: My feeder cable supplying power to my house is only capable of providing 500 amps to the house. I would have to spend another $5,200 to upgrade my feeder cable to the house to have enough power for 120 x S7's. I'm NOT doing that. I would rent/lease at another location before I spent that kind of money to upgrade my power here at the house. 400 amps of 500 amps would be used for mining in my home. The other 100 amps would power my AC, dryer, stove, fridge, LED lights, etc. That leaves me 96,000 watts for mining. Which would be 74 x Batch 8 S7's at 1,290 watts each OR 76 x Batch 5's at 1220 watts each. Who's to say we don't have a more power efficient rig in the future to allow me to have as many as 90 to 120 rigs instead of 74 rigs?

Do you know some home for living, where it is installed ? Obviously, you can not imagine yourself , how much heat will be from 100x S7 Probably you have not yet seen the stopped fan. I am. And my mining room temperature was very quickly over 60 degrees Celsius only with S5 antminers.

I've already thought of this. The quick disconnect switch would be connected to the other two panels used for mining closet. Obviously, you only seek to find fault with anything I say. I've already said the downstairs room is cut off from the rest of the house with french doors as well. So, the exhaust fan [on a different main service panel] would not be cut off when the power is shut off on the other two panels to suck out CO2 and the french doors keep any residual CO2 remaining from coming upstairs.
