For B8/B9 of the S7's Bitmain included fewer chips so to get the claimed 4.86TH/s the units are already overclocked.

carve with dremel (with steel brush, NOT stone), almost 500 micron then i found a bm1385 core chip for best thermal conductivity.

What is the hashrate and HW, temp, fan speed? intake air is 0C (outdoors air), fans are at 18%, board temps are 64-71C (if it is -5C outside, board temps also drop about 5-8C) 725Mhz = 4.867TH, 0.0104% HWerrors (30hr sample) I had it up as high as 737MHz breifly when it was -10C outside for around 4.95TH @ 0.025% errors

So I have to re-try getting a board RMA'd to bitmain. I bought a brand new PSU to try to power that board up hoping I was using a bad psu and there was still no go. For those of you who have fully opened their S7, what is the easiest method to getting the top off so I can remove the problematic board? I assume the top comes off because you can't simply slide the board out of the casing.

Welll,
Reading all the nightmare stories about the S7 B8's, and having ordered a couple S7 B9's, I guess I'll play with my immersion cooling idea with the B9's since it seems that Bitmain has overclocked the B8's and B9's to get NEAR the advertised hashrate but by doing so, has shortened the life span due to the excessive heat generated by overclocking.

The only other consideration would be the Wattage per TH/s.

That plate is holding the boards in place. Cool, I'll try removing it tonight. Bitmain already agreed to 'test' the board at their facility in china. Sucks I have to send it there, but the 3 TH hash I get from a $1600 miner really blows.

One thing I'd like to play with is running more hashboards per controller, to free up some controllers for"other experiments".
What I'm looking for, for the "other experiments".....
***** BURNT BOARDS ... I've seen some pics of just BBQ'ed board... I'd like to play around with those. Don't pick at the boards, don't pull the wires, cut the wires if the connectors seem to be stuck.
***** DEAD BOARDS, the ones showing all --------------- I would like to also play around with those.
It does not matter what batch they are from. I just want the hashboards, not the whole unit unless the whole unit is crispy cooked and not easily disassembled.
Please keep in mind these burnt/dead boards are just scrap as they sit - the only value of those boards is gold recovery value... or a memento of wasted money & bad luck.
Since I do not have any burnt or dead boards of my own, I'm going to need some that I can play with to see if I can help the rest of the S7 community with developing a process to recover some, most, maybe, just maybe all hashrate.
If anyone has a board or two that I can "play around with", maybe finding a work around to get these operational again, please let me know what you have and what you would want for the boards.

My power hungry batch 8 works at 737Mhz, GHS/ 5 sec shows little bit over 5000 Gh/s and avg 4920gh/s with std APW3 power, my other batch 8 is 300Gh/s slower with 700mhz which is usable max for it.

Also Bitmain used to buy back bad boards at a good price for the same reason i presume. Yes, Bitmain may buy back the boards to "refurbish" and stick into later batches or use as warentee replacements. BUT the end of the production run has arrived, That buyback may not be available. As for recoverable chips, yes, the chips contain gold. A very minute amount of gold. But, unless you know how to extract that gold, which happens to be a toxic, very hazardous and creates hazardous waste extraction process - not something to do in the home.... and have a significant amount of the chips, that ~VALUABLE~ aspect is out of reach of most people. Sure you and take the burnt/dead boards to a scrap buyer, get a few $ per pound, or donate/sell the boards to me and I'll try to come up with a process or method to help the S7 community to repair/reuse their out of warentee boards to get them hashing again. Winter is here, I need a project while I hibernate in the basement workshop. Thanks bbOOmm Wisconsin, USA
