No Paperclip needed for the EVGA G2.  It comes with a connector to keep the PSU turned on without a Motherboard.  Easy breezy.

Just "Mining" my own business.

How do I run one of these bad boys in Canada with only 120 Volts?

I run mine off 120V, just use regular ATX PSUs that are single rail.  However you do need a dedicated 20A circuit to be safe!  I use a 1000W PSU (2 boards) + 650W PSU (1 board).  Or get an EVGA 1600.  I used a 1300W for a while but it was just too close to the margin for comfort IMNSHO!

The huge thing is not to mix PSU's on the same hashing board.  So you need to power entire hashing board via 1 PSU.  So it has been kinda common for 120 to use two.   One that powers two boards, one does other and controller.   It can work.

I like all in one but that is a lot harder to do in 120v area as evga 1600's are high priced.  Compare to 220/240 server PSU's its a huge jump in price.  But I still like one PSU for all if at all possible.

EVGA G2 1300W PSU............problem solved.  Got 3 powering 3 S7 for the past 2 months, no issues.  Just buy 2 extra dual PCI-E cables for $40 extra for OEM and cheaper for non OEM cables.  I have an extra EVGA G2 1300W PSU at a good price if anyone needs 1.  Will include the 2 extra PCI-E cables so you can have 10 connections to the S7 at no additional charge.  Just PM me.

You can use the single OEM 6pin and buy good Y Splitter on the forum for 3.5$ per. Definitively works for S7's, but some S7 really cap out the PSU, so it might make some people nervous to see 1460W at the wall on their 1300W psu. No problem for the G2's anyways.

On a related note, anyone know where to get the short jumper cables for the EVGA 1300 G2? they are the female pins, unlike Corsair 750 that you can jump with a paperclip in the master cable.

Are you asking how to jump them? You jump them the same was as every other PSU, pin 4 with any ground. Tho all the EVGA's i've bought in a while comes with the neat adapter that jump 3 and 4.

I know how to jump it, but have to use the full 24 pin ATX cable and plug in the jumper module. I was looking at doing this without using the fat 24 pin cable and directly on the PSU. I have one setup like this, but need more of these little jumper cables. See picture.

Yes, but you have to use the full ATX cable to use the connector, that a lot of extra cable in tight spots.

^This. however, a dedicated 15A circuit (1800W, or 1440W at 80% load) should be sufficient, paired with a surge protector/tripping power bar just in case. 2 outlets or 20A is ideal though.

a lot of power supplies can output 90-110% of their rated capacity without issue over a long period of time, but it wears the components and is less efficient. PSUs work best with <70% load and are more power-efficient.

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

The pins are the same, just black. You can paper clip it or buy one of these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATX-Power-Supply-Unit-24-pin-PSU-Jump-Starter-Bridge-Connector-Plug-/141889283935?hash=item210942a75f:g:vAUAAOSwwE5WWgLE

and just plug it in. I did the same (paperclip) on my G1600.

I'm looking for the red cables with the female ends on them to use for jumpers, see pictures. Thats what I can't mean to find. One of my PSU's I got used came with one and now I have 8 more PSU's and want to find these jumper cables.

Not what you're looking for, but I found this and like the idea of it.  If you're putting your AntMiners inside a computer case, you can use this to power on the AntMiner with the case power switch.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GWM5TH4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00  Looking forward to the release of the new Thermaltake Core X5 case.  Should fit 2 PSU's and 2 S7's.  http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Chassis/Cube_Case_/Core/C_00002827/Core_X5_Green_Riing_Edition/design.htm

Oh geez I'm not sure I would like those things.  You get the wrong holes and it could be lights out for a very expensive PSU.

I did actually wonder though why EVGA didn't make a jumper thingy that plugged straight into the PSU like that instead of making one that required the cables to be plugged into the PSU only to have a cap put on the end of the cables to jumper it.

Well, its one time. Just count the holes and put your jumper in the same slots. Never have to mess with it again. I have actually then taped down the jumper cable to the PSU with electrical tape to keep it from coming out. These are great, I just can't find where to get them.

Think I found it, was looking for ATX stuff and these are just breadboard type standard jumpers mostly used for Arduino projects.

Nhando was stating that the EVGA PSU's come with a bridge in the box, which is correct.  If it was bought used then it may not have one but here is a $5 replacement on Amazon (and free Prime shipping - Wink)

I love the EVGA ones they seem like high quality compared to my paper clip modded ones Smiley. These type of adapter are great most of my stuff I switched over to. For short term fix I do use electrical tape on the PSU's i paper clipped to make sure it does not fall out or lose contact.  But the adapters beat the heck out of it.

I wish I could remember the name.  I never bought from him but someone on the forum makes ones that had amazing looking on/off rocker switch, and I think he added led to later models.  I could not find it for the life of me though.

I just got some plugs and made these little jumpers...

Nice I like that a lot not having to have that extra cable hanging out.  Bad enough that the S7 needs 10 PCIe connectors there are enough cables all over the place.

Nice- Where did you get those plugs?

These were 14 pin connectors needed for Corsair power supplies which I found on eBay for $1 plus $4 shipping from Hong Kong...do a search for "Modular Power Supply 14-pin Connector" and you will see it.  You also have to have female crip pins, wire, and a crimper to make your own.  I have about an extra 20 of these made up...I got a little carried away!  These work with the Corsair power supplies; others may use different connectors.

If anyone wants any of these 14-pin jumpers just send me a PM...

Bitmain sells S7s for the price the market will buy at. Its capitalism 101. Don't be mad, its the way of the world that we live in.

Got it. So shame on me, and everyone else who bought a batch 1-7 from buying, because Capitalism. Spare me the economics lesson kind sir.

My argument isn't "I'm hopping mad because I spent too much money."

No, I'm saying "we're all fools, and Bitmain is ruining the industry." And they're ruining it in the exact same way you tried to school me - "Bitmain sells S7s for the price the market will buy at. Its capitalism 101."

Even if that price means a 50% discount within 2 months.

If we were talking about anything other than a unit which is meant to consistently create an economic product for the owner, then I'd be totally on the same page with you. But the S7 has made me realize that the smartest people in the room are the ones who stopped home mining, and never bought an s7 in the first place.

Bitcoin mining is NOT scalable. And certainly not profitable. And with equipment already obsolete in less than 60 days - with impaired ability to resell for a reasonable price, not something you can really maintain (unless you like losing money for a loud heater in your room).

It's game over folks. The S7 is the destruction of the hobby miner.
sadly, i have to agree with you, i had to stop buying new mining rigs
this already happen few times

because difficulties is WORSEN not to mention import tax, and other equiptment, also internet cost
when i bought S3+, since september2014 i can't BEP,
i bought S5 April2015, also cannot BEP
i bought S7 batch7 December2015, now i believe im in big trouble because bitmain discount 50% + difficulties

is it only me or all of us having same problems..?
there is NO OTHER WAY to profit in mining, NOT EVEN with FREE ELECTRICITY
Every year, the sum of difficulties spike is ALMOST ALWAYS +120%, that means average 10%/month in random

I think you are having some trouble with math  or english   "the sum of difficulties spike is almost always +120%"
does not make a lot of sense. Not your fault as these numbers are amazing.

The problem is the last 101 days look at this chart  and compare the 101 days to the 404 days before that.

The last 101 days are really fucking bad and on top of that wicked bad increase we are going up 25%

so that 2.322 x 1  101 days

  will become  2.902 x 1 in   107 days!!

Another +25% diff increase is the nail in the coffin for home miners looking to profit (if it isn't completely dead already) without a new ultra efficient cheap home miner coming out on the market within the next 30 days or so (unlikely).

Beware of scammers.

Not when you're mining at Kano.  Hahaha........we got some buffer room.  =)  Now let's hope for BTC price increase above $450 fast, we will be ok for a little bit longer.  Every issues is an opportunity.  Panic selling = Plenty of money making opportunities for the buyers.

Just "Mining" my own business.

True. I switched to buying BTC weekly once the price dropped below $400. Hopefully price goes up and I can make money from the price rise and mining. Luckily power for me is very low so I can at least make a bit of profit still, but the miners at my home are off.

Beware of scammers.

In the past year I've been home mining (plus small data center mining) for an average loss of 30%. In return I get freshly minted coins from Eligius or p2pool. Still beats going to shit places like Coinbase to buy your coins and have them track how you spend them. The S7 has probably allowed me to extend my home mining operation for another 6 months or so. As long as the loss is not too much I prefer to mine my coins rather than buy them.
