I checked the betting odds and the Filipino rising star is actually a slight favorite. Here are the lines: Eala 1.65 vs Bucsa 2.10
Pretty interesting matchup, hope Eala’s run continues.
As long as the betting odds are acceptable, I won’t hesitate to bet on her. She already beat the world No. 15, and now she’s up against Bucsa. I know Alex is still young, but I want to ride with her momentum and popularity right now, who knows, maybe even the umpire favors her again, lol. But whatever happens, I think I’ll just bet blindly on this one. Eala all the way!

Is anyone surprise that it was here arch nemesis that gave that welcoming speech to Maria to be in the hall of fame. To be honest, I didn't see it coming, or at least never know that both are really close friends outside as we haven't seen it. Unlike the men's division wherein we see Rafa, Federer and Djokovic together in some events. But I guess they are only rivals inside the court but best friends outside.
Nothing surprising here at all. This is quite common across all sports actually. I did hear about her entering the hall of fame, but I didn't really check it out properly thanks to the super fast US Open schedule. Maria was a great player, but I liked her a lot more because of her beauty since I feel that she is the best looking Tennis woman to play this sport so far.

If you’re not content with that, maybe go for the handicap. There’s still time to think since the game is tomorrow, and it’s not even too late at night so I’m sure many will be watching her historic run. She’s really inspiring Filipinos, showing that we also have a place in tennis, especially if she goes all the way and becomes a champ.

I'm delighted today that Osaka won her second round match against Minnen, I had a straight win bet on her. My only fear is that as the rounds progress she could falter, she plays Baptiste next I would expect Osaka to win that one too. Baptiste beat Siniakova in two sets last round but it was a close first set. Siniakova is more of a doubles player.
Its a kind of hobby for me to always watch both Raducanu and Fernandez at the US Open. They were the two finalists in the 2021 and came from nowhere to get to the final. They obviously havent repeated that since but I cant help following their progress.
Raducanu is through to the third round - so maybe its time to start betting against her!
Fernandez plays Jacquemot - would really expect her to win this later today.

She’s really inspiring Filipinos, showing that we also have a place in tennis, especially if she goes all the way and becomes a champ. I wasn’t able to watch the game, but it’s sad news when I checked the score. unfortunately, her run already ended as she lost in the 2nd round to Bucsa, 2-0 (6-4, 6-3). still, her journey should continue, but she just needs to train harder and learn from the experience, at only 20 years old, she still has plenty of opportunities ahead, and honestly, it’s already enough that she made history.

I have read before that this is unfortunately very common for her. Seems like the can't really make momentum happen, so it's hard for her to win many games in a row. This obviously also mean that's it's extra hard to win tournaments since you need like at least 4 wins in a row to win one. With the talent she displays it will happen sooner or later but until then she still has some things to do to improve for sure!!

@aoluain - pardon me but did the Maria Sharapova entering in the hall of fame worth discussing here? Or have it been discussed before but was buried already because of the US Open and Alex Eala winning and setting a record for her country? https://www.wtatennis.com/news/4349297/maria-sharapova-enters-the-hall-of-fame-with-serena-williams-delivering-the-honorMaria Sharapova’s induction into the Hall of Fame turned into something more than a career tribute when Serena Williams stepped forward to deliver it. She was a great player although I found her "style" quite annoying with the sounds she made while playing, like Sabalenka does currently. While on court all the players are trying to beat each other and there are always a handful who will end up being big rivals for a while, but off court can have friendly relationships at least! I wasnt wagering on tennis when Sharapova was playing so I never won any money from her! I couldn't agree more, maybe inside they are the fiercest rivals, but outside they become truly friends thru the years that they have face. And to be honest, there are no competitions as Williams dominated Sharapova throughout their rivalry. Philippines Eala has lost here match so the hype stops there. Another controversy here mate, https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/articles/c87ev17en4yoAmerican player Taylor Townsend said former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko told her she had "no class" and "no education" in a heated US Open row. Is Jelena turning to be the female version of Nick Kyrgios? Do you guys think she deserves some penalty with that vulgar words she thrown against Townsend?

You can see it in the way she plays, she’s very emotional, and deep inside she might also be easily frustrated. I hope she learns to control her emotions because that’s important at the top level. Her serve also needs improvement, it should be more deadly so her opponents will struggle to return the ball. but still, she made history which is a huge success,.. she’s young, so there’s definitely more to come. Since no other Filipino has achieved what she has, people already see her as a hero, which probably overwhelmed her with all the success even without winning a championship yet. Slowly, more and more endorsements will come her way, especially from Philippine brands.

Djokovic seems to be struggling as expected during his recent matches against Svajda who played well in the first set to be honest. Meanwhile, Alcaraz and Sinner are dominating their opponents without dropping a set yet.
Swiatek looks really hungry for another slam while Paolini and Emma cruised through to the next rounds too. Also, Ostapenko is one heck of a sore, sore loser.

Ostapenko's outburst is actually nothing new, she is a very sore loser and always has an attitude when beaten. Not a very nice competitor. She was put out that Townsend didnt apologise for a net ball - which is nonsense, why should she have to apologise (eventhough they all apologise) Djokovic seems to be struggling as expected during his recent matches against Svajda who played well in the first set to be honest. IMO its going to be an Alcaraz v Sinner final.......again! Great to see Paolini going well, she is actually one to watch and is one to bet on. Raducanu and Fernandez through too. Osaka plays shortly against Baptiste, I have a feeling this could go three sets.

Coco defeating Vekic with Biles support was absolute cinema. She got her revenge successfully after her Olympic loss. Altmaier defeating Tsitsipas turned out to be one heck of an upset. Swiatek somewhat struggled to reach the next round. Osaka plays shortly against Baptiste, I have a feeling this could go three sets.
She breezed right past her without dropping a set. Looks like she is in great form and is a decent contender for the slam.

I think like you, it's very likely that they will still be the protagonists of this tournament. These guys are incredibly extraordinary and manage to be at a higher level than all the others. As an Italian, I'm happy if Sinner wins, but I have to say that Alcaraz is a really great player.

Wow! Townsend destroyed Andreeva who is the current world number 5 which is something special. She is the dark horse of this particular tournament. On the other hand, it was sad seeing Shelton walkover after a great performance, but that shoulder injury looked bad.
Am expecting another final between Alcaraz and Sinner with Alcaraz winning while Swiatek and Sabalenka will probably duke it out in the final with Sabalenka winning. Early predictions!

Somehow it's getting boring when always the same guys are winning. I mean, he have had this before in the last 20 years with first always Federer and Nadal, after that it was Djokovic/Nadal/Murray (maybe) and now it's basically always Sinner and Alcaraz. In every generation there are just 2 or 3 guys that divide the championships between them, really lame. Wonder why on the mens side there is never a big pool of possible grand slam winners.

That indeed was a great win. I really wanted ti make a bet on her but was doubtful of her capability to actually win so I made a very conservative handicap bet of +7.5 @ 1.19 (I know - low odds) which obviously turned out to be overkill! She could be a dark horse to at least reach the final but there is stiff opposition waiting for her. My next WTA bet is on the Kasitkina v Osaka later today. Kasitkina is ranked higher but this is Osaka's favourite surface. Would really like to see her progressing.

Understandable! It's a trend that never gets old though thanks to their fanbases who cheer them on and support them through thick and thin. These players are simply generational talents who somehow love staying on top no matter what. My next WTA bet is on the Kasitkina v Osaka later today. Kasitkina is ranked higher but this is Osaka's favourite surface. Would really like to see her progressing.
Am expecting Osaka to win this one in 3 sets since Kasitkina doesn't give up easily which she proved in her last game.

Am expecting Osaka to win this one in 3 sets since Kasitkina doesn't give up easily which she proved in her last game. You were right! I was wrong, I bet under 23.5 figuring 2 sets and allowing for a tie break and a bit of value at 1.42. I'm happy that she won though and through now to face Gauff - big challenge here for both players and hard to call a winner. Somehow it's getting boring when always the same guys are winning. I mean, he have had this before in the last 20 years with first always Federer and Nadal, after that it was Djokovic/Nadal/Murray (maybe) and now it's basically always Sinner and Alcaraz. I know what you mean, I like to see different players winning tournaments and that does happen but when it comes to the tournaments with the highest accolades and payouts it has been over the last 25/30 years in the hands of ~10 players on the mens side. There has been promises of way more players but they havent pushed through to claim their prize. I think everything has to be 101%, from the coaching tram to medical staff to the player, talent, physical, mental, consistency, ruthlessness and not every player has everything at that level but its possible it just takes an unbelievable amount of effort by everyone on the team.

Sinner dropped a set and moved forward while Swiatek keeps cruising. Zverev keeps crashing out in the opening weeks sadly while Bublik barely defeated Paul in a crazy match to push forward. Also, the dude who snatched the cap from the kid turned out to be a polish millionaire. Money doesn't buy class. now to face Gauff - big challenge here for both players and hard to call a winner.
Yeah. This is a big one. Gauff will probably win in 3 sets as long as she limits her double faults issue effectively.

Djokovic and Alcaraz are through to the next round while Sabalenka cruised to the next round herself. Djokovic vs Fritz should be quite interesting and I am expecting Fritz to end up winning it after 5 sets.
Also, the polish millionaire drama continued with him defending his decision in a hilarious and nonsensical manner. Crazy to think that someone like him is an elite, but it makes sense if you think about it.

If you have ever received or seen this kind of "gift" in a tennis court, you should know that "PROVENANCE" it's everything. Some years ago a friend of mine offered an Armani Towel used by a famous WTA Player. What is difference of this Armani Towel with another one take from the shop? Without signatures, or even a photo that show the item during the match/when it's gifted ... it gives an item WORTHLESS. I hope he will not use the same footage for selling this item. Maybe at this point a sale for donation would be much more ethic...
Italians are looking Bublik and Munar facing Sinner and Musetti... both players are not the hardest players of the seed but 5 sets matches could have enough surprises and deserve a bet...
