@aoluain - good catch mate, congrats.

Thanks Kemarit - as we all know ot doesnt always happen that way, but I'm
glad this time on was on a winner.

I followed that with another over on Sinner v Zverev, which didnt happen with only
31 games I'm not surprised that Sinner won but I am that Zverev couldnt take a
least a set off him. Sinner is looking like the real deal, able to back up his win
from last year.

Wasn't able to watch the game because of time zone difference. But yes, I also thought that at least one set for Zverev to make the game more exciting to watch for the fans that's why I go over. But Sinner was too good as he dominated Zverev again. As I'm looking at the score, the second set could have been the last straw for Zverev. Maybe if you could have won in the tie break, he could gain some momentum in this game.

So there are no surprises in the men's side, and Sinner proved again why he is the best player in world. And I saw this,

Quote
José Morgado
@josemorgado
Alexander Zverev becomes the 6th player to lose his first three men's singles Grand Slam finals.

Andre Agassi
Goran Ivanisevic
Andy Murray
Dominic Thiem
Casper Ruud
Alexander Zverev

Only Ruud and Zverev are Slamless from this list -- but both still active players.

Honestly, Sinner only struggled a lot against Rune in this edition of the Australian Open primarily because of health issues and dropped a set against him while he was a beast against the others.

He is just as epic as Alcaraz though he is less charismatic for sure. Glad to see that his recent scandal didn't mess up his upwards trajectory.

It was reported that he was sick during the Rune match, but still though he manage to overcome it and won.

Yeah, I do not think that we will see a champion like Djokovic or Federer or Rafa that has the charisma . Alcaraz and Sinner doesn't have it, and so they really have to work very hard to has fans like them, just saying.

And with that win, everything shifts their focus on clay as the next GS will be in Roland Garros.

and thats what the top champions have been doing for so long, going the extra mile
to find a way to overcome and prevail when the chips are down.

Speaking of charisma, dont forget these two guys are still very young, they will develop
in body, mind, skill and personality - they are still learning.

Yes onto Clay now which will suit some and not for others.

For the womens side I am thinking or wondering if Swiatek will continue to lose
ground to Sabalenka this year after she was pushed into second place?

I think that could be a motivation for Swiatek to push herself and reclaim the top spot for women. The lead by Sabalenka is not that big and I think within this year, who knows, ifshe will win Grand slams and Sabalenka not finishing on top, then that could be her chance.

Not unless Sabalenka continue her magical run, remains healthy and focus for this year, then it might be very hard for her to be defeated.

It's like Federer vs Rafa during their primes, Federer who loves the hard court and fast surface, while Nadal specialty is Clay.

Yea it remains to be seen who can be the most consistent because thats what
is going to be needed.

I'm surprised to see that neither are playing the WTA 500 tournament in Abu Dhabi
which starts tomorrow. But I suppose thats what the very tio players do after winning
or reaching finals of GS' - they take a  reak. Even Sinner is on a break!

Top seeds Rybakina 1, Badosa 2, Kasatkina 3 and Putinseva 4 play Wednesday.

Yeah, it was a surprise as Swiatek might take this if Sabalenka is absent and inch closer with the points she is going to earn. In the men's side, it's understandable as Sinner lead is really big for Zverev to catch.

and with that, those top seeds in the women's in this tournament will have a big chance to show their talents. And there could be surprise results as well as maybe some women's underdog are going to win in this tournament, IMHO.

Maybe its early in the season for them to be getting worked up on points and
that they a very wealthy. The number 1 spot will happen organically depending
on tournaments won in the season.

I wonder if Sinner will build up enough of a points difference to carry him through
being number 1 while he serves out a potential ban this year? thats wondering if
there will even be a ban...

It's going to be bad for tennis if their number 1 player are going to be suspended, and if I'm not mistaken, he could be out for 1 to 2 years. And that will not look good for him, but still though, he was found positive not just once, but twice.

So let's see, it's very hard decision to make for the body to suspend it, but rule is the rule and so they will have to implement it regardless of who the player is. Similar in boxing, when Ryan Garcia was tested positive and he was ban for 1 year. Although his suspension is going to be lift this April.

But it's totally different for tennis player as they usually play the whole year. As compare to boxers, with only 1 or 2 fights a year.

In recent time few serious controversies create concerns in Tennis because ITF is using double standards for players which are never been good if someone is guilty of having wrong then surely he deserved to be punished as other sports organizations are doing for these subsequent.

Tennis can lose its charisma if they fail to bring transparency because rule and laws are always equal for all and implemented for better future of game Sinner is done mistake so he deserved to be punished as they have done with other players but most chances nothing will happen like this and Federation will bring middle way for keeping their best player on track safely.

See Simona Halep is retiring after returning from a doping ban, she hasnt been

she also had to retire after coming back from a ban, lets hope that if Sinner gets a ban
he will be able to return to the no.1 spot.

Andrey Rublev had a tough time but managed to reach the quarterfinals without losing a set. Hubert Hurkacz is next up for Rublev, who finally beat Fabian Marozsan in two tie breaks. Hurkacz has always shone on indoor hard courts with his powerful serve, but interestingly he is in the last eight for the first time in this tournament. Hurkacz has won three of the past five matches between them, but they have been very close. We could see something similar here. But I see Rublev one step ahead in this match.

Hurkacz has definitely improved this year already since last year. He got
past Rublev to line up a semi final against Alcaraz but couldnt go any further,
it was a very entertaining match over 3 sets.

Alcaraz went on to with the final today against de Minaur again over 3 sets.
Both players were sick with colds and probably the onset of flu but the level
of Tennis was very impressive!

And especially from de Minaur, he gas definitely improved after his strength
conditioning!

Correct, they can't have a double standards here, as I have said, they should be implementing their rules, regardless if it is their current number 1 player as there could be some group of players that might make noises here if they see that they are biased.

Sinner is still young, definitely he can go back from the ban and see if he still has it. Could be a blessing for and the federation itself as there could be others who will go and chase to be the number 1 in absence of Sinner.

And then when he comes back, we will wait if he can get back his former glory prior to the ban.

Sickness and coolness no able to stop these youngsters to give their best in this 3 set thrilling final at ATP - SINGLES: Rotterdam indoor Final where Carlos Alcaraz wins his first title of 2025 and 17th of career which is surely going to be boosted after losing quarterfinal against Novak Djokovic in Australian Open.

First set was completely dominated by Alcaraz with in second set Alex de Minaur done good comeback but again in third set Alcaraz give his best and clinch his first indoor title of career. Alex de Minaur was in his best as he was in stunning form not lost any set in this event but sadly not able to face quality of 21 years old Spaniard who also give his best for his career first indoor and first title of 2025.

They really cannot afford to have double standards, I',m a big fan of Sinner but
it will be a bit strange or a bit smelly if he is cleared, it will be seen as one rule for
the top players and another for everyone else.

See Simona Halep is retiring after returning from a doping ban, she hasnt been
able to perform as she had before the ban, similarly Sharapova had the same experience,
she also had to retire after coming back from a ban, lets hope that if Sinner gets a ban
he will be able to return to the no.1 spot.

The one advantage Sinner will have if he has to serve a ban and then try regain his former
glory is that he has youth on his side so I dont doubt that he will be able to be back on top
or close to it.

I think and hope that Alcaraz can work on his consistency for 2025, I think that was his
weakness least year and could have been closer to Sinner.

I know he sometimes tries to make beautiful shots which he not always pulls off so I
think he needs to concentrate on making winners rather than making them beautiful,
that would improve his consistency.

Sounds a lot like womens' tennis where it is not seldomly happening that the favorites get eliminated in earlier rounds. Can happen in mens' tennis too, but it feels like it is more often the case in womens' tennis. Maybe time for a fact check in this regard.

I noticed that Doha is starting later for men and there hasn't been a draw yet? What is the reason for that. Was trying to look up who of the favorite players is going to play that tournament, but looks like there is no confirmed data just yet.

But I suppose there is still some uncertainty about Djokovic and his injury and whether he will perhaps take a break for months. I think he will more than ever before focus on the Grand Slams. That is what he did for a few years now, but this injury seems to be something that could bounce back if he takes to too far physically. He might even let the French Open go and focus on Wimbledon and US Open instead.
