Quite sad to see Del Potro lose vs Nadal. He really wasn't lucky with the opponents he had to face. I think everyone will agree that the real final was played between these two. Kevin Anderson is a good player but I don't think he will be able to do anything vs Nadal.
Del Potro had to beat Federer, and had one day less to rest than Nadal. I think a two day full rest should be available when we go for semi-finals and finals. I guess this wasn't really fair for Del Potro but it's how the tournament is run.

I think its less than 48 hours before he faces the Nadal so I guess he's body wasn't able to recover from the Federer match. But I do agree that its not fair specially that players have to go a lot of matches before reaching the semis and its getting tougher and tougher as you go along. If we all know that he will be beaten by Nadal, we just wish that Federer should have won then to see Federer-Nadal once again. Oh well, its gonna be easy for Nadal to take the trophy against Kevin Anderson. I'm not saying that Kevin can't win, but knowing Nadal in this kind of tournament, its really hard to go against him and pick Anderson.
Well it's just that way it is. It is not first time that schedule is not merciful to a player. For example Djokovic lost few titles because he had difficult matches in semi-final. I like to say that he didn't loose title in finale but he lost in semi. Delpo played great but Nadal's tactic gave the result, forcing Delpo's backhand all the time he took full control of the match. Congratulations to Rafa. Big favorite for championship trophy. As I said earlier, I would like to see interesting match in finale so Kevin Anderson, give your everything tomorrow please Smiley

I believe congratulations is in order for Sloane Stephens who defeated fellow compatriot Madison Keys into two set 6-3 6-0 to win her first ever Grand Slam title, she was able to face and beat Venus Williams in the semis to advance into the finals. She also defeated Serena Williams en route to the Semi finals of the 2013 Australian Open.

Yes a big congrats to Sloane Stephens on winning her first Grand Slam title and what a way to do it crushing Madison Keys which I thought would of been a lot closer then how it turned out. Sloane Stephens is going to win a lot more Grand Slams as she has a lot of talent and has already proved that she can beat the top players in Women's tennis.

I'm now looking forward to the Men's final which should be an epic match. I think Nadal will win which will give him 2 Grand Slam titles for the year just like Federer. Both the veterans have had excellent years and deserve what they have achieved this year.

Congrats to Stephens for her first grand slam title I think she will shine more in future. Now people are waiting for the epic match b/w Nadal vs Anderson. 90% people are decided that Nadal will win this match including me. But suppose if Anderson wins today it will be surprising for everyone.

Top seed Rafael Nadal will start as a strong favourite when he takes on South Africa's Kevin Anderson in Sunday's US Open final
The pair, both 31, have known each other since junior days, and Nadal has won all four previous meetings.
Who will win?

I hope a good and very interesting match. Most people see the Rafa as a winner what should have happened but I think that Anderson can play a good match against him.

Fantastic Nadal just easily won the final against Anderson 3-0 (6-3 6-3 6-4). He dominated this tournament by losing only 3 sets in 6 matches played. Great season for Nadal with 2 slams and 2 master 1000 won!

Rafael Nadal has lifted up his 3rd US Open title including the 16th Grand slam title, not only that but also he has reached the pinnacle of the ATP rating. though this year is not favourable for him because of losing in the Wimbledon Final against his rival Roger Federer after a mammoth 5 hours games. he recently recovered from the knee injury and he has to struggle a lot to reach this position. if he could manage his injury year after year then he would have reached all time grand slam record.

I got the feeling that either Nadal and Federer will continue to dominate tennis this year. And this year US Open belongs to Nadal and maybe the next big tournament will be won by Federer. This veterans are really showing that they can still rule the tennis for more years. Perhaps these 2 are really taking care of their body to be able to take long matches. Good to see Nadal back at the the no. 1 spot. I think as I have mentioned they know to take care of their body so to avoid injuries One factor is that they are taking breaks from time to time and just selects which tournament to enter to give their body ample time to rest and heal.

Nadal deserves this US OPEN title. Last series he lost in finals but this time when Federer went home in semi finals I fixed that the title will go to Nadal. And this is 16th grand slam for him very big congratulation to Nadal. Yes you are right this year only these two players can dominate all other players.

at last, tennis has got its two legends back to the point table. I think Nadal and Federer both deserve this position. they are the living tennis legend. in recent time they have failed to perform as thier standard due to injury and other factors.

but when they have got themselves in the tennis court then again I will enjoy watching tennis. because I love watching them on the court with great performance. let's see how many days they will dominate...

Yup we should appreciate his effort. Last year people are discussing like Nadal career is going to end and better he can take retirement. Those days were very bad days in Nadal career. But after taking some rest and treatment this year, he bounces back like a champion and sits in 1st position. I am very happy to see him in 1st place and congrats for US open.

Yeah I agree Nadal will surely stay the number #1 tennis player in the world as Federer most likely won't play in many more tournaments now as he hasn't played in many all year and that is why Nadal is way ahead in points then Federer. Also Nadal has won a few tournaments along the way to go with his 2 Grand Slams. He deserve to be number #1 and finish the year the number #1 player. It's been a great year for the veterans of tennis, not only in the Men's but also the Women's, however in the Women's no veteran was able to win a Grand Slam. Congrats to Nadal on winning his 3rd US Open.

Nadal will almost certainly end the season at first place while Federer at second place.
A. Zverev should complete the podium.
Murray and Djokovic will almost surely leave the top ten!

Yeah, that's quite predictable since both Đoković and Murray announced that they are missing rest of 2016.

Do you mean 2017 there mate?

Nadal has secured the no. 1 spot for this year. But I believed that Federer will still play some tournament up until the end of the year, although is gonna be a selective tournament as he has been doing this for this year to rest his body and its really effective for me because he has won some tournament this year. But lets see, there is Paris Open in last week of October or early November if I'm not mistaken.

My prediction is Nadal will stay at the top till 2019 Smiley I am pretty sure nobody else other than Djoker / Roger can overtake Nadal for the next 15 months because all others lacks consistency and Murray cant win multiple GS per year .

2017 is a disaster for Murray. he not even reaches finals in any grand slam I think. Number one player suddenly collapsed and bottom player Nadal came back with his power pack performance and settled in 1st place. Next year for Nadal the strong competitor is only Federer because he only near to his points. Zverev in 3rd place but his points are very less, and he can't reach Nadal. So next full year Nadal is the king of Tennis game.
