It was reported that they will resume play at 12 noon Washington time. So it's about 12 am (midnight) Manila time. So for those Pinoy out there, maybe they are more willing to stay late to be able to watch the game and hope that Eala can make a comeback in the 2nd set as he is leading 2-1 although Pegula is going to serve next.

It’s already late here in the Philippines, but this match is still exciting to watch, especially now that Eala is leading in the second set.

We’ve seen her lose the first set before, then come back strong in the second and third, just like what happened against Maya Joint. She also got her revenge in their next meeting, so hopefully she can do something similar here.

Even if she doesn’t win, she already proved that she can compete with top players like Osaka and Svitolina. But of course, as Filipino fans, we still want Eala to win this one.

I haven’t checked the odds yet, but I’m sure she’s the underdog. Maybe around 3.00 odds, just my guess.

Unfortunately the delay did not let up and they will be resuming their match later on today. But she is leading the set 2-1, so you never know with these resume in play. She could have her second wind and possibly make a comeback.

What I’m hoping is that Eala can come back in the second set and at least push the match into a third set.

Pegula is a top-three player, so if Eala somehow beats her, that would be a huge win, especially since Eala is still outside the top 10. But in terms of popularity, she already feels like one of the biggest names in women’s tennis.

Even if she loses, she’ll still earn good prize money, and she can continue joining bigger tournaments now that her ranking is improving.

As an Alex Eala fan, I can only say good luck to her. Hopefully she becomes more dominant in the second set, forces a third set, and wins the match.

Reaching the final would already be one of the biggest achievements for a Filipino athlete, including financially. A lot of Filipinos are now following her, and in a way, she feels like the new Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines, just in tennis instead of boxing.

She not only reached the finals but won it giving the heavy home court favorite a bagel in the third set.
That is a major accomplishment for her nation and must give the people of Philippines something to be proud of in winning her first career title at a major tournament.

Wow, that third set was really something. Alex Eala lost the first set and honestly I thought she was already in trouble because Pegula looked dominant. But Alex came back in the second set and made it even, so everything came down to the third. Then she won it 6-0. Damn.

I think the delay on the game due to weather gives her enough time to rest and focus on his game since she is already catching up with Pegula on set 2.

But here it was really a different story. beating the Olympic champion, and then the defending Champion, and the best rank player here. Down a set in the final and maybe that rain was a good blessing for her as it might have taken some mental stress and move on the second set as if she is not down. She could be the next superstar of tennis and the support of her country was the huge difference. Imagine Pegula playing at his home court and yet there are more fans of Alex.

But in general she is not a superstar yet. Maybe her name is just getting more hype now because she already beat several top 10 players. Her ranking is still around 20, so for me she is still a rising star and not yet on superstar status. But if she continues beating top players and winning tournaments, then she will eventually reach that level.

She dominated the first set, but Sparks came back in the second. Then Alex took control again in the final set and finished the match strongly.

Overall it was a good win and a great start. Her journey continues, congratulations to the fans and those who backed her. She is really worth following.

People who came to watch were not disappointed. It was a good match and it even reached the third set, but I was still confident Eala would win since her opponent was ranked much lower. I really like how she has improved, especially in deciding sets. Just like what we saw in the Washington DC final, she dominated the third set again and won it 6-2.

Her next opponent is Caty McNally, ranked around 70. On paper this should be another easy win for Eala. ( good luck)

In the Philippines she is already very popular. Some people even say she could join Miss Universe because undeniably she is beautiful and also very smart. 
You can already tell that from the way she answers during interviews and Q&A.

I dont trust Sabalenka that much anymore even if she is still number one. The way she is playing now, I think its possible for Alex to beat her.

By the way, I saw a post saying Eala is already in the top 10 when it comes to Facebook followers. That shows she is becoming more than just a tennis player, she is slowly becoming an icon too.

TBH, this is my first post here, and I just recently watched tennis games because of Eala because obviously, she came from our country and that also gave me a reason to watch tennis games from other players as well. I don't want to watch one player only. If you want to learn more about the sport, you need to at least watch different players.

As for Eala's next opponent, I don't think that I can say that it will be an easy win. This McNally might ranked low, but she just beat Noskova, the current Wimbledon champion in three sets. This shows that an upset could happen at any moment. I don't know, but I'm thinking that fatigue might be a factor on this one especially on Eala because she just finished that last tournament where she won the title. Whatever the case is, I'll still support her, and of course other players as well.

She's an icon just for the reason that she's the only tennis player who represents our country that's competing with big tournaments like the Wimbledon, or in tournaments like the ones where she competed in it. She's way farm with the likes of Serena or Sharapova right now, and I haven't seen her being in the court with Sabalenka TBH. It's still a long road for her, but I guess we could say that she's on the path to be on the top. No bias. Just stating my opinions.

Fair enough. For the Philippine community, they might consider him their icon already. She has shown that the has drawing power already. And it's not like that she doesn't win games, she destroys her opponents like in the recent finals wherein she bagel Pegula.

I don't know, are you saying that she is won't win any grand slams? You should give her a chance, Emma Raducanu was a unknown in 2021 when she won the US Open. So maybe by chance and the way she is showing right now, she might go all the way and win. Maybe not this year, but in the future.

Emma Raducanu got really lucky when she won way back then since she didn't need to face many of the top players. Eala could definitely win a slam too, but she needs that sort of luck in my opinion since there are many European players far ahead of her currently.

Top players usually save their best for the slams which is why she would need to improve a whole lot more in order to win without a high degree of luck involved. Just my personal analysis btw.

I think this is not the first time they teamed up and lost. Although the last time I remember, they won the first round but were eliminated in the second. Venus Williams is really old now, so that could also be a factor. If Eala gets a chance to team up with a younger player, I think they may have a better chance of advancing further.

Well thats already obvious because of the big difference in their rankings. At around 1.40, I think its still worth taking, especially while her name is still getting a lot of hype. Another factor is the Filipino fans. With that kind of support, it almost feels like she is playing on her home court.
