It's a good time to buy as long as the price is under $1k ...
Even the price hit more than $1000. It will still be a good time to buy since the current user of bitcoin is still few and expect the price to go higher which will result to a 5-digit value of bitcoin. That is true. If you think the bitcoin will rise a lot in the future, say in 50 years, then it is good time to buy now. I am also long term minded, but looking 50 years ahead is not possible/realistic as we don't even know whether or not Bitcoin is still existing by that time. It depends on your age. But most of the price rise of bitcoin will happen in the next 20 to 30 years. the price growth of the bitcoin is definitely going to happen way sooner, in my opinion we might see huge growth in like 3 years from now or so because bitcoin will be way more popular what do you consider to be the huge growth that you are talking about to happen in the comming 3 years? $1000? $2000? $3000? when i am being as realistic as possible i can only see the price reach $1000-$1500 before 2020. |

Well, I am 29 at this point and I'm still not thinking about what will happen in the next 20-30 years as it doesn't make sense to look that far into the future. Of course I surely hope it, but we don't even know if Bitcoin is still the leading digital currency by that time. |

So here we are. Bitcoin reward has been cut in half once again and the price is somewhere between 600-700. No big surprises have happened so far. Not the best time to buy if you ask me. If the price will go up it will take several months to do so, maybe by the end of 2016 or early 2017 we can expect a new ATH. Today, I'd rather expect the difficulty to skydive as mining is hardly any fun anymore for real now.

If the price will go up it will take several months to do so, maybe by the end of 2016 or early 2017 we can expect a new ATH. Today, I'd rather expect the difficulty to skydive as mining is hardly any fun anymore for real now.
It was a surprise that the price went above 500 dollar, since the halving price was around 450-500. Having said that, like you I don't expect a major price rise or increase the coming months. At least no volatility like we have seen because of the halving. |
