Definitely. But it could be a part of "IOTA client" aka some SW piece which uses IOTA protocol, right?

I didn't fully get the second part though.. Assuming we are talking about newly released/updated firmware code..

Iota just allows to fetch firmware code and rewrite it even without Internet.
or
Iota just allows to fetch firmware code and rewrite it even without Internet.

I hope its the first one, otherwise I'm confused and/or need a lot of reading...

I assume that Iota client is included into firmware.

Regarding the question, it's the second one. If the device doesn't allow rewriting then Iota can do nothing.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

My two cents (iotas),

Never threaten legal action unless you mean it and know what you are doing - and you don't mean (and also don't know what you are doing, because you have no case here at this juncture).

Also, let's not set a precedent where we as a community start spamming and handling business related problems on the negotiation level - it will cause noise and confusion. Let David and team handle these issues. Imagine if there is a problem or delay in the future with a large entity (say, microsoft), are we going to spam and threaten to sue microsoft over similar issues? Probably not under this type of scenario we face now.

The GUI will come soon or this person will be fired and we will wait once more - that's life. I think this guy will come through.

i have sent message for GUI dev here : https://plus.google.com/117135058210150911432/posts?hl=fr

I have also sent a message. Please people do all the same.

Quote
Hello,

i'm a IOTA investor. We have paid for a job and you don't answer to our Project manager David Sønstebø.

If you do not reply with sufficient justifications I will be obliged to proceed through legal channels to protect my investment.

This is not the way to work, we are a very large community and we will not make life easy if you do not justify your delay.

Sincerely.

a very unhappy customer .

Let's not lynch this guy after a week of delay.

Sorry guys if the terms legal can be too aggressive.

But my message is a personal message were i begin the message with "I am a IOTA investor", so is explicit is a message from an unhappy investor not a dev.

But if already 2 person have noticed "the aggression" i will delete the term "legal action" or the entire message...

Do i have to do that?

I wold like to help IOTA not the reverse!

So... Iota allows to fetch firmware code even without Internet...?  Huh Are talking about new/updated firmware, which was not available during the release of the device and/or during the time it was  actually connected to Internet?

How it will get the updated/new firmware code without Internet..? Now I am confused.

But the fact that you know his contact information already got David involved. Just be thoughtful. I understand you want to help and I appreciate it.

Agreed. Hopefully we can find someone to maintain, bug fix, and upgrade the UI from the community here, seems like there are plenty of qualified people on BTT that would be interested in Iota.

Iota messaging allows to transfer any data, firmware code is just a special case of data. Iota messages are sent as packets which can be broadcasted via radio or tunneled via any messaging protocol. Iota gives a way to create economic incentive to deliver messages into areas not reachable by Internet.

These factors allow to update firmware. Firmware supplier needs only to publish the code into Iota tangle. Eventually every device will get it.

Yeap. I always think that it doesn't make sense to be angry, you just need to fire bad employee as soon possible.
If he will not deliver GUI today, its intelligent to fire him, not giving endless additional days, be angry, etc.

Oh, thanks a lot, that explains it. I was confused by the "not connected to Internet" part, now I see what you mean. Sure Internet is not the only way to transfer information to/from device, especially for a solid players in such field as IoT.

I really like the wave of revolution in altcoins that's coming, Bitcoin did its job introducing the world to the wild idea of cryptocurrencies, and now these game-changing altcoins are improving upon this. The world of cryptocurrencies is advancing, and I can't wait to see where it goes.
