Lakers still not out of the clutches of Grizzlies, 106-102.

James and Monk hit back to back 3's. But the Grizzlies responded back with a 5-0 run in the last minute or two. So it's going to be another close game and Lakers although has the lead is not sure of taking their first win tonight. Last 5 minutes, anything can happen so let's see how it goes.

An intense close game in dying minutes and the Lakers got the win in the end. Still, a big effort for Memphis Grizzlies Ja Morant producing 40 big points, and his support manage to get a double-digit scoring. On the Los Angeles Lakers side, Westbrook still having difficulty finding his rhythm but is still able to make a double-double notably with his 13 assists. Carmelo Anthony also has a good percentage tonight.

The Lakers now get their 1st win since pre-season. The question now is consistency on which I know they will work on it while on progress.

The Lakers really needed that win.  They barely snuck it out on the back of Carmelo Anthony's team leading 28 points on 10-15 shooting.  I'm glad he's already off to such a great start in his new role.  Westbrook's 9 turnovers and 33% fg shooting isn't getting it done.  He needs to figure out what's going on.

Ja was the star of the game though.  Making those old guys look like it's time to retire out there. 

Indeed a much needed win. That was a close one for the Lakers if they've gone overtime.
Melo surpassed another milestone of his career and he seems like he's gonna have to make a lot of shot with this Laker roster as the opponent's defense will always be diverted leaving him for a wide open shot.
While Westbrook should limit his turnovers, he somehow manage to make a double digure assist.

Ja on the other hand is in a completely different level, he's unstoppable. He seems like an upgraded young D.Rose.
I can tell by this early, he's going to be an MVP candidate this season.

I think if I have to choose between Westbrook and CP3, I believe CP3 would fit to the Lakers roster as long as he brings the ball, he has a high IQ and he can certainly make plays to make everyone better.

Imagine, CP3 being the main PG and Rondo as a backup PG, how do you think would it go? lol

Yes, but that 13 assists though really help the Lakers secure their first win. But his shooting, still questionable, he was even given enough room to make a 13-15 foot jumpshot, and guess what it was an airball. He made a crucial rebound when Melo missed the jump shot in the corner, but he wasn't able to control it so another TO.

But the good news is that they've won the game, not as convincing because Ja has another monster game, but barely enough to get a win against a tough team.

Russ needs to adjust more, still not working the way it should be. Lakers take their first win a very close game. Not good because all their 3 superstars need to play long minutes.

I was thinking that after acquiring Russ we will not see LeBron playing longer than 30 mins. But he still playing almost the whole game.
He is not young. If Lakers continue to use him like this, he might endanger his health. The season still far and has a long way before it ends up.

Yes, that's the right word. "Finally". I think this will change something on how the Lakers team will play their game.
A weight on their shoulder has been lifted and now they can enjoy it. The first 2 games doesn't seem like they are having fun but now I could see some smiles in their faces especially AD being a sportsman again even with a close game against the Grizzlies.
That's how basketball should be, a sports to enjoy and not be a burden just because there's so much expectation that was thrown to them.

So the Lakers could suffer a third defeat in a row if they don't find a way to improve mutual understanding on the court as soon as possible. It seems that this season will be hard for coach Vogel.

Fortunately, for the Laker Nation, it was good to see them winning their first game of the season. Yes, they are not an easy opponent, but when teams like Lakers are back are against the wall, they will really have to performed better and that's what they need. Although I'm expecting Westbrook to really play good, it was still below expectations, but 13-13 is not that bad for his first win as a Laker.

^ Congrats to Lakers for securing their first win, even though it was a close one. I wouldn't say that Morant is the best of FT shooters in the league but he did okay Id say. The thing is that Lakers are finding the chemistry slowly. In the first couple of games, they lost badly. But against Grizzlies, they have shown some chemistry. I wouldn't say that this was the best version of Lakers but they are getting there. Once they get the rhythm, I don't think anyone will be able to stop them.

They still have a long way to go in order fully maximize their individual strengths as a player. Though the game demonstrated exceptional skill, what glues them together is the leadership they gain from Lebron James. The game earlier also was a privilege for everyone since we got to see a vintage Melo performance with his 6/8 threes and dominant perimeter shooting.

The game between the Kings and the Warriors showed on why Curry will always be dominant on the three. Not to mention, the unsung heroes of Warrior's bench carried the whole game as they definitely have a very deep roster. Jordan Poole has shown significant improvement and his confidence with his shot making abilities makes him a constant threat now.

I guess Lakers finally getting one win is a good news for them, everyone loves a good win. However let's be honest with each other, there is no situation where Lakers could be happy about beating Grizzlies and taking that as a future sign. Hell westbrook alone nearly had triple double with turnovers, that number needs to go down a lot more if Lakers wants to keep going. Their streak of non-existent chemistry issues is a bad thing, it is really not something that we could be looking out to.

I personally believe that there is going to be some sort of team bounding situation going around in order to make that team better. Sit them down, or make them go bowling, or let them help the community together, do whatever you must when they are off the court but still talking, hell a bbq party would be more than enough, do that and they will be doing better.

I believe that soon Westbrook will return to his "normal level", begin of the season, he's on a new team and others stuff like that.

He will continue to contribute to the team but he will not make an average of 20 points and he is not a starter for the LA Lakers. He could step up when needed, that's the most important for now and that's why the Lakers signed him is because they trusted him to help the Lakers bring to the Finals again.

Don't forget that Melo was once a superstar who leads the Nuggets and the NYK during his prime, so scoring 28 points is not to be surprised.

Young Ja is still in the process, he improved his 3pt shooting though, actually surprised on the performance he showed but never surprised that he'll be the best man in the court, he's just built different, you can see how they almost got LA, if he didn't miss that and forced overtime, I'm pretty sure that LeBron will step up but against a young Ja Morant? now that's gonna be a good battle, I'm pretty sure Ja won't choke next time he gets the opportunity.
