That's right. Especially LA Lakers whose line-up is focused on inside games with LeBron dictating their tempo. Based on their game on pre-season against GSW, the Lakers seems to be unstoppable inside the paint and that's a big problem for most of their opponents.
I have watched the highlights of the Lakers vs GSW game and the Lakers simply dominated the shaded area with Lebron, Davis and McGee. To be honest they have good inside players and a good backcourts too. If there will be no injuries for them throughout the whole season, there is a big chance that they will reach the playoffs this season but still don't expect too much for them even their roster is better now compare to the their roster last season.

Im confident that the Lakers will secure a top seed to enter the playoffs. With AD in addition to the roster alone is already a huge move for the Lakers management. When they signed AD thats an automatic playoff-bound for the Lakers.

I have watched the game too, and offensively I can say the Lakers easily dominated the game from every area in the field, and youre right, most of these areas are were AD, Lebron, and McGee positioned themselves.
Im afraid the GSW will miss the playoffs this year if Thompson remains unhealthy for the rest of the season.

Here some playoff prediction from Chris Webber :

Chris knew the GSW lost too much intensity without KD and Klay.
Now, the NBA fans have just realized how underrated Klay was. Steph and Green wont make it alone. I know DLo is in their current roster, but I doubt he wont make enough impact this year with GSW this year.

I don't agree with the prediction, I believe GSW will be included in the top 8.
Yes, Thompson was injured but its expected that he will return next season, although it will be late in the season, so this means that they have a chance to be at least qualified in the playoffs.

It looks like we are going to see Lebron as the point guard for the Lakers again. With tall guys around him like AD and McGee, the job is much easier now. Their outside shooters looks good too. I want to see them play against Denver next!

It's nice to see Dallas makes it to top 8 in C Web's list. Looking at the Warriors recent performance, they could be battling for the fifth to eight spot.

They are once a champion team, at least give them a chance to be included in top 8.
Yeah, they got dominated but Klay wasn't playing and Curry only played low minutes and that's just a preseason, things will be different in the regular season. That's his prediction but I will oppose on that as I have warriors to be at least in top 8, and I don't want to underestimate them.

Even if Thompson returns, he will not have his minutes back right away. So it will only be just a little help coming from him. If the warriors really want to get to the playoffs, Curry, Russel, and Green should be working hard, double-time. And hope that on the playoffs, Thompson will be 100% healthy and ready to help them to at least get back to the finals.

Which team? Dallas or Warriors?
It's an opinionated list and the criteria of being a past champion probably has the least weight here. It's based mainly on the current roster. And if you are talking about Dallas, that team is long gone.

The same could be said with the Lakers team or any other team.

I doubt they will make it without Thompson..
Klay has been an underrated player and we will see his importance now that he will not be able to play for maybe a lot of games in this season to come.
With curry's weak defense, I think they will not be the same GSW who are really good as they have good shooters.

It's Russel's show now, hopefully he can give what is expected from him, and he will be able to improve his stats now that Thompson is out.
They also need a good 3 point shooter as curry alone cannot do it all night, he can easily get defended and will have some off nights where we can barely witness on Thompson.

Whatever reason GSW had, a loss is always a loss. There should be no excuses. Lakers killed them, no doubt about it plus the fact that Davis and James didn't go on full time makes their win more convincing. Props to them, they did a great job. There's a new terror in town, watch out Grin.

Going back on the issue of standings, I still believe that Curry can pull this off. The only question is that will they be the last team standing until the end? For me they can make it into the quarter finals but I have a strong feeling that they are not going to championship this year.

Thats just a prediction anyway, that doesnt mean its guaranteed. But of course this is based on sports analysis. Chris Webber is a vet in the NBA too. So, he probably knows how to evaluate every team and individual players.

You mean "This" season, rather than "Next" season isnt?
Because we're talking about this year's NBA season.

Thats why I said :

Im afraid the GSW will miss the playoffs this year if Thompson remains unhealthy for the rest of the season.

That means, If Klay comes back late in the season, that doesnt mean he's fully recovered. Of course they'll have to limit his minutes to avoid further injuries while on the process of total recovery.

It looks like we are going to see Lebron as the point guard for the Lakers again. With tall guys around him like AD and McGee, the job is much easier now.
I remember the time when Lebron is still on the Cavaliers and single handedly (not single but he did the most part) put his team on the Finals but unfortunately lost to the Warriors 4-0

Now he can again do what he want again in Lakers and now with the more stronger roster with AD and McGee and also Howard in the paint, he can go into any position he wants too but most of the time he will be a point guard. So yes we will see a Point Guard Lebron this season.

I'm a Warriors fan for a long time already but to be honest, I don't see them to reach the NBA Finals anymore with their current roster. They're more focused on the offensive rather than the defensive. Just my opinion.

Warriors seems confident that they were able to replace Iguodala and even Livingston's defensive capabilities.

I know that they are no longer the favorite and I also doubt that they can reach Western conf. finals even if they have Klay but I still want to see what their young squad can do. It was only a few years ago when Steph was dubbed as the baby face assasin there. Now, he is the oldest in their roster.

What a game for LA lakers dominating the game. I can't believe the intensity this Lakers showed that game. I don't know what they will do now, when the NBA season is finally going to come. This season is bright for Lakers.

They dominated the Warriors but this is just a pre season, however, the way they played, they are so scary especially when Davis are getting that offensive rebound and will do a put back dump. I think I'm gonna put a little for them winning the NBA championship this season, they have a very tall line up and they are fast as well.
I agree man. I'll be putting amount for them to get the title. Their height advantage take the first preseason game. We all know that Steve Kerr will put Draymond Green at the center position that could be taken advantage by McGee and AD. Lacking of Klay makes the game even harder for the warriors.

They are still the same team as the system that's running around is still available the same one like before, the only catch now is familiarities between new players and how the splash bro will manage to compete with those upgraded teams. Though the best thing is the main core of the team still there, they just need boost and help everyone to be more familiar with the system.

They are no longer scary because they no longer possess that same offensive firepower. Opposing teams are also familiar with their style of play.

With Durant and other key players out, we'll see if the new replacements can fill in those big shoes.

Not the same team. The same system doesn't mean the new guys have the same capabilities as the one they replaced.

That is if there will be a healthy season for the NBA players.
The West is stacked with a lot of power teams and it will really be difficult for Green and Curry to make their plays. They do pick and rolls most of the time when KD is not yet on their team.
With strong defensive teams like Clippers, it will be Green which will have a difficult time.
But let us not go to conclusion. They are still one of the young teams out there which could make plays with speed. If they could somehow make that happen most of the games then, they still have a chance for a championship.
Plus, they have the better fans.

GSW might make it to the playoffs but I doubt if they can make it all the way to the finals. I mean, look at how the teams stacked up in the west. Most of the stronger teams are in that conference so for GSW to make it back to the finals, they need to be more aggressive to the basket and to their defense.

They are still the same team as the system that's running around is still available the same one like before, the only catch now is familiarities between new players and how the splash bro will manage to compete with those upgraded teams. Though the best thing is the main core of the team still there, they just need boost and help everyone to be more familiar with the system.
There is no splash brothers this season, at least the early to mid part of the season. There will be new dynamics for the team and we will see when the season starts how Kerr will address their flaws and adjust to the gameplay of their opponents.

Plus, they have the better fans.

I am confused. How does having a better fan contribute to winning and making it to the playoffs?

Wrong. Klay Thompson was advised by a doctor to not play for the rest of the season.

Support by fans could make the team morale go up and could make the team go work harder. I think this is a reason for teams that are on the streak. Lack of support from the local fans. This is actually sad for players.

Great, you nailed it.
Look at Charlotte. Even if they already have one of the best players in the league, it is like.. there is still no joy out there.
So for me, it wil;l not just always be players. It is how great the fans will cheer for them for their good plays and moves. Without the fans it will just like be a practice game.

GSW still have a chance to give other teams a good competition. Let us not forget the 2 time MVP is there and is still kicking good with a healthy body.

They dominated the Warriors but this is just a pre season, however, the way they played, they are so scary especially when Davis are getting that offensive rebound and will do a put back dump. I think I'm gonna put a little for them winning the NBA championship this season, they have a very tall line up and they are fast as well.

Put that bet early. Once Lakers established a good standing record during the first few weeks on the season you will never see an odds of 3 above again.

They are no longer scary because they no longer possess that same offensive firepower. Opposing teams are also familiar with their style of play.

With Durant and other key players out, we'll see if the new replacements can fill in those big shoes.

They are not as scary as before NOT because they lack now of offensive power. They are already a powerhouse team with a powerhouse talent even before Kevin Durant arrived and still have that offensive power.

What's make them look not scary to others anymore is because other West teams now improved their lineup unlike in previous seasons where Warriors is almost a favorites since we can't see any teams that can be matched them on those seasons.
