Lakers is indeed a powerful team so its players should also represent the outstanding performances that the team needs. However, with Westbrook, even if he has not made outstanding performances in the previous games, but I don’t think Lakers will pursue trading Westbrook, instead the team will add more players that bring more asset to the team.

One more season with Russell Westbrook and let's see if his inconsistency last season will be changed. Actually, he won't have to put great numbers per game as long as he is consistent in providing good support for the team. In fairness to him, he can play the entire season without even experiencing a minor injury. Still athletic as always and not injury prone. He just needs to find a way to become his former self where he is draining shots consecutibely and has the ability to slash the paint to put up a score + foul.

With Lebron James and Anthony Davis returning also on the court next season, I hope their trio will now worked effectively alongside their role player teammates.
Westbrook must focus on the passing than scoring. We know how efficient Westbrook is if he is focusing more on passing.

The problem that I see with the roster of the Lakers last season is they are lacking of offensive power. They only rely on Lebron offensively and aside from that, nobody is stepping up. Davis coming back? I don't want to rely on him offensively because of how fragile he is. The Lakers must have another scoring first player that can step up if Lebron is injured or in the bench. They need this so that Westbrook can focus on what he does best and it is passing.

They are not pursuing it because no team is willing to make a trade. That's why they should just forget about it and move on, use Westbrook as one of their key players again and see if this time he would be productive. Maybe it just needs time to adjust and build some chemistry with Lebron and AD for us to see his worth.

Udonis Haslem signs a one-year contract with the Miami Heat and that will be his last season for the team. Despite low average playing time and only playing a few games within the last six seasons, the Miami Heat reportedly convinced him as they still need his locker room presence.

What's on my mind is that they want Haslem to be part of those players who stayed in the franchise for 20+ seasons. Dirk Nowitzki and Kobe Bryant are the only players in history to do that. This upcoming season, Haslem marked his 20th season on the Miami Heat.

It makes sense to believe for me that's the reason aside from appreciation by the Miami Heat.
Even after what happened with him and Butler. I am surprised. I guess he is really good at pursuing people and even the management agreed to another year. After this, where would Haslem be. I bet the Miami Heat will add him in their coaching staff.

They should give it a try if this trio could work. Last season, they only played together for 21 games. I think no one could build reliable chemistry if you only played too few games together. If AD and Lebron can stay healthy, maybe they could eventually have chemistry with Westbrook. And who knows, their coach wanted Westbrook to remain, maybe he has something in mind that could make Westbrook fit better with the Lakers.

I don't think he will last a full season with the Lakers if he plays the way he play last season. I know that the blame should not be put on Westbrook's shoulder, but there was a huge expectations from him specially wih how the play with the Wizards the previous season.

With Lebron James and Anthony Davis returning also on the court next season, I hope their trio will now worked effectively alongside their role player teammates.

If they remain healthy, they will be definitely in the top of the rankings, maybe top 3 or 4. Davis will be their first option. And we would like to see the Lakers with Lebron anchoring fastbreaks or Westbrook doing the assists.

The post above might be the reason why they will be a force in keeping Westbrook. No one is willing to take the guy

as how they've seen the performance of this man after leaving OKC, he's been traded multiple times and nothing happens. He is not
a valuable asset anymore and with his last performance with the Lakers, he's more on liability than being an asset of the team, maybe
yes, the new head coach will try blending him with both AD and LeBron in hope that he can work it out.

Okay, let's give them a chance, they now have at least one season to prove that they have the potential to improve their chemistry and possibly win a championship. No more excuses for sure, they have to had a good start which is the opposite of what happen last season.

Ham already says that he wanted Westbrook to stay with the Lakers as he might have something in mind for the 3 to work out and make a good chemistry. And I agree that 20 games is not enough for them to build a rapport and it should be consistent as well. But they have their issues like AD getting injured and then Lebron so it's really hard for the Lakers to win games if any of the 3 are injured or not playing.

Well, his morale support to the team and its players will still play by a big factor and that's what I can see on this signed contract for him.

Damn, time goes so fast and I've remembered him that I used to watched him with the old roster of Miami. We're that old right now as Haslem also became older.

Good luck to his stay for this probable last contract with Heat.

That's not a problem for the Heat because they are not paying him too much. if his presence is needed, then be it, because the team just don't need physical toughness but mental toughness as well, and for sure with his experience, he can help the team to improve on that part. Have you still remember when Haslem and Butler had some issue, I think Haslem thought Butler was too soft to be a leader that time.

If Westbrook is still with the Lakers at the start of the season, I would expect it to be from the Bench. I don't think they feel he is the same player as 5 years ago. It also kinda says something about what the rest of the league thinks about him since there has been basically no market for him. I know his contract is big to take on, but if a team felt that he would help them win a deal would have been done by now.

I can't remember if he also came from the bench when he was at the Wizards. But I would say that it will be a good experiment if Ham will come up with that strategy. Let Davis and Lebron start and if they dominate then good, if not Westbrook coming in late might gave them a good spark and could turn the tide. So a lot has been expected with the new Lakers coach and hopefully a new system will be better this year.

I believe the Lakers can do it as long as they keep being healthy all season long. Davis is so fragile and would cost them to lost momentum when they start winning.
Ham, also mentioned they could retain Westbrook and run their offense mainly with AD and Westbrook.
I don't really know how they'll run their offense, but I think they should improve more with their defense.

Since 2016, Udonis Haslem has appeared in only 9.7 games per season... with a 7.0 minute average. He has not played a single minute in any of the Miami Heat's playoff games during that span. Miami team loves him as a leader and he's helping younger centers develop for the team. I guess he could carry on like this as long as humanly possible.

Now that Brooklyn Nets is not interested in future draft picks for an Irving trade, it seems a bit clear that KD is staying? The Nets wanted a good roster indeed to keep KD who's not getting younger. I'm still interested in another shake-up though like what happened to Minnesota Timberwolves.

So Lebron's wish of wanting Irving to play with him in LA is out. With Westbrook's $47 million salary, it seems that the Lakers will be forced to consider more future draft picks if it wants to ship him to another team or they will be forced for him to stay. So, will Westbrook wear skirt again? Cheesy

He could serve the Heat better if he works as a coaching staff or trainer rather than taking a slot in the roster. They could have given it to a younger player that can contribute to the team in the regular season and the playoffs. I guess after the gets his 20th season with Miami, he can do that role. For now, he'll enjoy his spot on the roster and continue supporting and contributing thru this.

This would be the dream for Nets while it is a nightmare for Lakers.  Grin  Because Lakers and more importantly Lebron want to get rid of Westbrook before the season starts. Westbrook's performance was very inadequate and they can't go on with him clearly. This would be enough to make Lebron disappointed and he might not make the same effort he made last season. I hope Lakers find a solid guard if they can't trade Irving.

Westbrook was brought into the team because he was supposed to play alongside the most skilled players on the team. However, when any of the three key players are not playing or are injured it is really challenging for the team to perform well. I think using Westbrook as one of the key players again is not looking to be a very bad decision. Maybe they should just give him more time and trust him to deliver a competent performance.

If he is still going to play with this team, I don’t think he necessarily has to play from the bench. He can perform well in my opinion even though he has not done anything major to prove himself so far. But the more logical option seems at the moment to be for him to start from the bench. Because that will probably also reduce their expectations of him. And by doing so he will also be able to perform well. There is no team right now willing to trade, so I suggest they make the absolute most of him.

Yes.

It isn't much for them to have that veteran and it is also a big thing to Haslem to still have contract like that. He's got contribution ready to be made for the team.

He may be given a low playing time but that's it, it's better to have that than nothing. And the same goes to have a contract and be part of the team.

If you are trying to rebuild, it is the best way forward, I guess. Just look at the teams that rebuild from the scratch. Golden State was successful in building a dynasty team from draft picks and some notable trades. Celtics is also on the verge of doing it. They have built around Tatum and Brown, their own picks. They are successful enough to reach the Finals last season. And I do not think that that is their peak. We can still expect more from Tatum, Brown, and company to achieve more. Also, it would be cheaper to acquire rookies with great potential than a high-paid star when rebuilding.
Yes, sure!
I believe this can be something viable for a certain team, because each one of them has a different way of managing them.

Celtics is a good example, Tatum, Brown are evolving a lot lately and they are getting more competitive this season

A good example in trusting the system, these two stars are bringing the team up inter-changing for their offensive attacks and they are, really

sharing the court for each and everyone who is playing with them. Though they didn't complete the chase of winning a title but they fought

well, it's just experienced that made the Warriors take that extra edge, but we never know what future is waiting if Celtics will keep them

and surround them with more good role players, either from draft picks or from a good trade that will be fit from the system that they are

using just like the way Warriors did.

By now, Westbrook should already adapt to his new environment because he is not the alpha in the team anymore and he will be more helpful in supporting Lebron and AD. He can still produce good numbers though if he can but he should know his role and its boundaries. Darvin Ham wanted to keep him because he sees something with Westbrook that could be a big use for the team, I hope Westbrook wouldn't let Darvin down for that because if he is still not consistent then I guess it might be too late for his career then.
