I guess saw this on my twitter feed,

https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/1671737877837824001

So perhaps Celtics will have to find another defensive player, or at least 2 way player for that matter. And Smart could be the replacement for Dillon Brooks. Hopefully he can be a good mentor to Ja Morant  Grin.

Edit:
Celtics receive: Kristaps Porziņģis, 2023 & 2024 first-round pick

Grizzlies receive: Marcus Smart

Wizards receive: Tyus Jones, 2023 second-round pick

Wemby is happy to be going to SA. He's the perfect fit for that organization.

Can't say that until he's done at least 1 season with San Antonio, I hope he'll live up to the hype, I have nothing against him. I also hope the Spurs would build a team around him for them to become relevant again in the playoffs.

On the other hand, the Boston Celtics are finalizing the deal to get Kristaps Porzingis for Marcus Smart. I don't know but I think Porzingis will be a great piece for the Boston Celtics success. The guy averaged 20+ ppg and 8+ rebounds per game, and he can also shoot from deep. Well, I hope they'll make it to the finals next year.

Wemby has Durant body, and I know he is a bit taller but that's who he is going to be like. Dude is 7+ feet tall, and he can dribble the ball and shoot very well, that's a big skill to have. When you are that tall and can shoot whenever you want from wherever you want, not that many defenders can stop you. Hence, the best thing to do would be focusing on other skills at that point. He is not that great defensively, he certainly can't body anyone up, he is too skinny to be an inside defender, he can chase blocks if he wants to, but if anyone posts him up, he is not going to be able to stop them. This doesn't have to include gaining weight, Durant is still skinny, but he learned how to guard the post perfectly, he can do the same, whatever he does.

It's too soon to judge and say that Wemby is going to have Durant's body because remember Giannis when he got drafted? Yes, that kid is so thin as well and almost looks like a walking stick but look at him now, he's so buffed that he can really dominate inside the paint and protect the rim as well. I'm just saying that there is also a chance that Wemby will be like Giannis instead of Durant, too soon mate.

Well, what can I say, I'm just glad that this kid, Victor Wembanyama, has fallen into coach Pop's hands and not the other teams. Don't take it wrong, it's not meant to underestimate them but knowing how experienced coach Pop is, this kid will surely learn a lot from him especially now that he will start his rookie season when the next season will commence and we know how important this season is to the newly drafted players.

There are rumors that the Spurs want to offer Coach Pop a contract for three more seasons. Honestly, I was surprised to hear that since Pop is 74 years old. As for Victor Wembanyama, I agree that he's definitely lucky to have Pop as his first NBA coach. However, I have some doubts about Victor. He's certainly a talented kid and has a lot of potential, but he only weighs 230 pounds and looks too skinny for his height. I mean, Victor's low weight and intense schedule in the NBA might be the reason why his body could become injury prone.

Indeed! The San Antonio Spurs are really inclined to extend coach Pop's contract mainly because they don't see any veteran coach, other than coach Pop, that can handle players well and nurture them to be the best of themselves and will be the image of the franchise.

Quote
Gregg Popovich expected to ink new deal with Spurs, to become highest paid coach

Gregg Popovich’s contract has expired following the 2022-23 season.

A source told Ellis that there is an expectation that Popovich will ink a three-year deal that will pay him $14 million annually.

In hindsight, Popovich extending his run on San Antonio with Wembanyama at the front of the franchise’s new era can only mean something special in all of the sides involved. The generational prospect will savor the Spurs’ development program that is being touted as one of the best, while the hall of fame coach will have that golden opportunity to handle a once in a lifetime player before ultimately hitting retirement.

His health is my main concern. How can he defend the paint if he's that skinny, and if they don't want him to be in the Center position then where? Point guard? Shooting Guard? Most probably he will be in the Center position, and with that body frame, I don't think that he can put a body on players like Embiid, or Giannis etc.
It's not much of a problem, Gobert did it. DPOY. KD looks thin but he is strong too. The skinny shooter type is the new NBA.  Grin

Holy crap it's real.
https://sports.yahoo.com/report-celtics-acquire-kristaps-porzingis-from-wizards-in-3-way-trade-that-sends-marcus-smart-to-grizzlies-040200833.html

Hmmm. So the Boston Celtics gained height but they took out the defensive player of the year. I guess they are also switching to offense.
Memphis Grizzlies on the other hand is adding more defensive power. I kind of like it.
Now, the Washington Wizards have 2 guards but have gone smaller. I think they will trade CP3 too, but keeping that card for a good offer. CP3, who is blaming Isiah Thomas for why he was kicked out of the Phoenix Suns.
It's hard to keep up again. From drafts to trades. I won't be surprised if most of us will be shocked when the season starts as we check the roster of our favorite teams. It's good to be always updated here. Thank you.

Khris Middleton also declined his $40m player option. Hmmm. Scary. He didn't perform great this year. He shouldn't have done that. Or his agent.

Probably who will be the first pick in this years draft? (although the odds favor Victor Wembanyama).

Yeah, very interesting that Marcus Smart, who I think is the face of the Celtics as he has been with the team for 9 years and has played along some notable Celtics during that time, is moving to Grizzlies.

So now Memphis will have 2 DPOY on their side. But still the problem though, Ja Morant is going to missed 25 games and not sure if Smart is going to cover for him this season as he is not a offensive player.

The Celtics know what they are lacking, and I believe that adding Porzingis will help them spread the offense. Being a big man who can shoot from the 3-point line, he brings versatility to their game. However, the concern is whether he will stay injury-free. In my opinion, giving up Marcus Smart is not a significant problem as they have younger guys who can step up and fill his role. Hopefully, this trade will work out for all the teams involved.

We don't wish for something bad to happen to a player, but considering what we have witnessed in the past, we cannot erase the worries that the same thing could happen again. So, it's best to prepare ourselves for the possibilities and not set high expectations. Sometimes, a player may even exceed our expectations. Personally, I hope Victor Wembanyama will dominate the ROY ranking once the season starts.

Yup! We really don't wish that to happen and but we can not conclude that could happen either, Victor Wenbanyama needs to gain weight or muscle in no time clearly even with that kind of skill and that height he is often pushed around by the heavy players if he can not use his height inside then the team that likely drafted him can not use him 100% in their game, for me he needs to gain mass,

We'll see that but I guess the Spurs have already got plans for that so that he'll get some muscles and buff for his body. It can still be a working in progress but it seems that everyone is hyped on him. We know that everything's gonna be changed when he's already stepped into the league.
It won't be the same as the leagues that he's played before. He's still young and I am sure that some veterans would likely challenge him inside the court and hoping he won't be injured and won't be ending up like Greg Oden.

I surely hope aswell that he would get muscle mass, but eventually, he will develop them for sure as the NBA progress Webanyama is still young he will likely get the position he wants, and likely muscle mass is his solution for the inside problem, and on the game of France VS USA team France the team of Victor Wenbanyama lost to the USA and it is because of Kenneth Lofton, Jr. the 300 pounds that bullied Wembanyama inside the paint, so for sure he badly needed that additional mass,

Upcoming new and New Rules for the upcoming NBA 2024 season,

1] New Anti-Flopping Rules - this rule was on the books of Fiba and many are just tired of so many flopping and tired of all those flop masters, and the rule goes like this If a referee deems a player has flopped, they just call it a technical foul,

2] Expansion - CEO Adam Silver just said that if the upcoming talks would push there would likely be new additional teams that could enter the NBA and for me I think the recent City Seattle, and their recent team the Seattle Sonic back then could comeback and another team would be the Las Vegas, as we could see that the WNBA have their Las Vegas Aces, that is the current defending champion and the dominant team in the WNBA right now, and Las Vegas has proven that they can host a game for the NBA maybe in Mandalay Bay Events Center, well we will likely know in the upcoming season,

3] The New NBA official Ball - Wilson the ball sponsor for the NBA has announce a new 3D printed balls that will be used in the NBA but it is not yet official and in the testing pace but can eventually go inside the NBA as the new official ball for them,

Porzingis is a good pick in terms of talents but just like what you mentioned, he's an injury prone star that may
cause him a liability, though Boston has a lot of talents who can cover that.

I 'm not expecting that trade as I expect him to be like Draymond for the splash bro, a good 3rd option in moving the ball,
who also bring boost to the players. But that's how the league was. We never know what will happen more on business
and the money side.

He's good in shooting but don't know if he can contribute well in defense. But since they already made the trade done I guess they are testing a new line up next season. Its just they waste smart since he's good defending on perimeter and they can also rely on offense. So hopefully celtics didn't make a huge mistake on this trade.

Let's still see if they still became a title contender this season on the presence of the Unicorn around and he should remain healthy because if not Celtics campaign next season might be in trouble.

I believe he can contribute to the defense with his height and agility. The Celtics made the decision to acquire KP by giving up Marcus Smart, indicating that they see his potential. He has faced setbacks in the past due to injuries, but I think he is gradually becoming more consistent. Hopefully, he will help the Celtics reach the NBA finals next season.

Based on his last season's record, he averaged 23.2 PPG and played 65 games. I believe that's already a significant contribution for the Celtics to consider acquiring him, as their bigs haven't been able to score that many points. Well, actually, he has already been acquired, so that's good news.

I also heard that words when people are hyped about Chet Holmgren last year. What happened to him? Summer league he got injured, and didn't play the whole season.
I'm not saying that Wembanyama will be the same as Holmgren because obviously they are different, but their body frames are almost the same.

He can dribble? Yes. He can shoot? Yes. The question is his health all throughout the whole season. Like you said, he is skinny to be a center, so if you're Coach Pop, where will you put him then? His trainer don't want to add weight on him as well because it might affect his playstyle like he said in one interview. I like the hype because it's what always the NBA is doing days or months before the draft night, but I don't expect too much about Wembanyama TBH.

As of now, he'll be much useful as a forward rather than as a center because his body cannot handle the pressure and intensity inside the paint as we all know that there are others in the league right now that are so dominant in attacking and protecting their rims. Also, he will be under observation first to know if his body right now will be much the same in the few years to come because he's still quite young to know more about his build.

He already has the skills and talent that most big men don't have. I'm sure the team is already working on improving his physical strength so he can go head-to-head with the big men. Do you remember when Giannis came into the league? He wasn't as popular as the young big men now, but he was able to work his way up, improve his body, and has now become very unstoppable.

Actually, they made good moves because they can't make the same mistakes again by missing the NBA finals again by losing in game 7 to the Heat or any other Eastern Conference team next season because of their lack of big men that can take the roles whenever they are facing an opponent like Denver or Spurs in the future. Because if they don't fix their team right now, they might not get any good offer next time because the other teams are carefully fixing their rosters too which they will gonna use effectively to counter the defending champion.

They were fortunate to reach Game 7, as the series could have ended earlier if the Miami Heat had made the necessary adjustments. However, that is now in the past, and it's only fitting for the Celtics to focus on improving their lineup. I'm sure Porzingis would be delighted to play for the Celtics, as it would provide him with an opportunity to compete for his first NBA championship.

I think to dominate on the court doesn't have to be on the skills alone, you need strength in there and with that Wemby physique I think that needs more muscle and I think whatever team he may landed they'll work on it. He doesn't have to fill those expectations out of him, it can be worked step by step, he doesn't need to win the Finals in his rookie season or lift a team. It's a team and organization's effort after all.

After Finals end I was at the vacation as well and didn't check NBA news. Any suggestions for new poll? What's the hottest discussion right now?

Celtics is already good in spreading their offense, they have Tatum and Jaylen Brown. But yeah, they could be going full offense next year as they will have KP to shoot from the outside. Smart though is one of their leader so it could affect them mentally in the beginning. And now Jayson Tatum is the leader and the franchise player of the team. He should better step up now.

I'm just imagining what will be the atmosphere at Boston Garden when Marcus Smart comes back in his first game there as a Grizzlies.

For sure there will be a lot of respect from the Boston fans.

Not really surprised that Smart was the first one to be traded since he's the most expendable of the trio but never imagined KP to be there. He'll have less playing time for sure unless he'll be their main center which I doubt. I think Celtics is taking too much risk by changing a lot of the team dynamics.
