I've been playing with the API for a day, and I've already made a simple iPhone app to get the list of BTCT assets and its last trade price, in order to control them from my iPhone, instead of going to the web everytime. It's some kind of stock ticker.

Its very usefull for me, but I'm wondering if anybody would be interested on it, to publish the app into the AppStore, or remain it just for my own usage! 

Are people with iPhone/iPods interested on this? 

They already have an iphone app don't they? Or is it just a webapp...?

I think they have/had an Android App... And I'm not sure if there is a generic webapp, but At least at the App Store I couldn't find anything...  And for me its more comfortable and quicker to check BTCT from a simple App instead accessing safari! That's why I decided to code this app for my personal use...

I think they have/had an Android App... You should get some interest if you add it soon, as you currently can't look at the markets on btct [edit:via the web page] without logging in.

You can access the API without credentials, a login shouldn't be required.

That's it; using the BTCT's API you can look at the markets without doing login... So yes, in my app, you can check the market with no login credentials (But
You cant do much more lol)

hi burnside, I just want to say that I **HATE** having to login to view the virtual market, because with my settings I have to find my phone to view my 2 factor authentication codes, which is not always in reach when I am just lounging around

this is forcing me away from the site to coinflow.co , maybe less traffic is part of your master plan, but I don't know if that is the desired effect

To a certain extent, less traffic is the master plan, but it's less toxic traffic that was the goal.  I'm trying to figure something out with cookies, etc, that will let users that have logged in before on a particular device see the market without having to be logged in.  (I hope that makes sense...)

I was scratching an itch.  It's a new feature, shows your all-time trades split out by asset.  Also includes revenues from the assets, so you can get a feel for your overall trade prowess.  You can click the headers to hide individual assets and it will remember which ones you have hidden.

Because it is pretty heavy it has a one hour cache time on it.  IE, don't expect real-time updates.

Thanks for reaching out to me. I have recently moved to a different country and have the only copy of the code sitting on a busted HDD. I am looking into getting a new dev PC up and running in the very near future. As soon as I do, I'll get into that HDD and retrieve the code ( hopefully ).

I have a second account with no coins or assets that I've used for testing stuff that doesn't have 2FA on it that I can just use to check the market page, but it's not ideal.

Why don't you just have users that are not logged in solve a captcha before viewing the market and then leave a cookie to bypass the captcha for a few days on the same device?

I like it - can you do the same roll-up feature on the Value Analysis and Dividends tabs? There's stuff on mine that I'll never get back into that takes up a lot of real estate

You might also merge value anaylsis and trade analysis in such a way that the current holdings are included in the trade analysis. And add a "total" for all assets.

hey, I have a question about how IPOs are handled... does the issuer have access to funds as they come in, or is there some lockout period where they don't get any funds until they reach their contractual threshold for a "successful" IPO?

Specifically, I'm looking at the recent HOSTED-MINING security - it looks to me like they're not going to reach their "success" mark, and I'm wondering if there's any safeguard to ensure they don't just walk away with whatever they do raise instead of refunding like they proposed in their contract. (Because hell - if it's a risk-free proposition to me if they don't make their goal and I can be assured that it's not possible for them to run with it, it might just be worth throwing them a bone to see if they can get their hardware purchase done.)

I think I got the issue with having to log in before seeing the market page mitigated somewhat.

Killed two birds with one stone.    The disclosure must now be agreed to before seeing the market or the individual assets.  It's virtually the same disclosure as that in the registration agreement, but this way there's a periodic reminder that participants should only be using the site for education/entertainment/fun.

I know a lot of people out there are not going to like this much, but we have to make sure people are not being tricked or misled into believing anything on the site is a real security.
