Take note, an EGC BCT signature campaign is in the making and will be launching in the very near future!
You will notice mine and other community member's signature changing as we work on these signatures for various levels. We are still trying to nail down the "rules" also but we should have everything organised well enough to start soon.
Of course, because we have never had an EverGreenCoin Bitcointalk signature campaign, we may need to adjust the rules as we go.

I am pleased to announce, Cryptopia has upgraded EverGreenCoin EGC to a 4 out of 5 rating! Because of the 2% foundation fund being considered a "premine" (even though it is not), 4 out of 5 is the highest score possible. Understandably, Cryptopia wants investors to know "... that 2% of the coins are designated." I do personally, and will in writing, object to them preventing us the 5th star because of it. Preventing a project of the 5th star because it plans for the future and knows funding will be needed is not fair. The 2% is properly disclosed elsewhere for investors to find. Really, its a 4 out of 4.  ...but I will fight for the 5th anyway. |

This is amazing news honestly. I wonder if any other crypto has developed a non-profit around their coin before. I see a whole new avenue of adoption and potential with this direction. EGC could be on the bleeding edge of a new non-profit revolution.
Non-profits that take in A LOT of charitable donations annually could have a new system of governance with DAOs and allow their donors to have a visible stake in the direction of their contributions.
I feel like I just had a well-duh lightbulb moment.

Thanks for sharing your excitement, dbc23! To be honest, I am very excited about it too, but there is much work to be done. I do know other 'crypto-projects' have obtained LLC's and different 'nonprofit' classifications before, yes. I work with and do personally know some of them. They are not all structured the same. There are 29 different 'nonprofit' classifications in 501(c) alone. 501(c)(3) is one of the few that donations to the organization are tax-deductible. Any of these 29 classifications can be ordered in different ways also and the criteria for that order varies in different states. Some states have 'lower' criteria. Ohio does not. Any of those 29 can be filed in different additional ways also. Things like the possibility of political endorsements as well as projected donation amounts all need to be indicated in this filing process. Obtaining a federal EIN number needs to be done in this process also if the orginaztion is going to aquire one. My point is, there are many different organizations that can claim, 'nonprofit', 'entity', and/or 'organization' even. Not all of these mean the same thing and I do believe the intent can be derived from the structure to some degree. The EverGreenCoin Foundation is being organized in the most 'formal' structure possible. The EverGreenCoin Foundation will have directors, officers, and members who will vote as needed. Those names are yet to be made public because the legalities of these positions are still being explored, but rest assured, the bitcointalk community will be very well represented when and if any matters ever need to be voted on. It is a time-consuming process with several steps. Of course, I will keep the community informed along the way. Thanks for the interest! |
