I had over 1,400 HODL earlier today and now I have 200 and my last mined block is showing that it is over 2 days old...  The block height shown in the wallet looks correct though.  Where did those mined coins go!?

Same issue here, solo mined a few blocks last night and when i checked today they are gone.  pulled my wallet up on two different pcs and got two different balances, both showing last block mined two days ago.   Angry

The block explorer shows a different balance than the 2 PCs and shows I 'spent' 200, i'm hoping coins I've hodled show as spent because I sure didn't transfer any out.

Glad I checked here as well before I started getting upset!  I just started so my couple of blocks means a lot  Cheesy

I can put together a 32 bit windows binary .exe for testing if that would be helpful (I'm not set up for 64 bit builds), it would include the fixes for sorting, but would be unsuitable for mining.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-5Ax5kejTpMNDFUWGZNeGhnTVE

Here it is.

No good for mining, but you can use this to sort your HOdlings and run an empty wallet for your mining.

If you are having trouble with your wallet, I would suggest loading a copy of your wallet up on this version of the software.  It's missing the mining optimizations but between this and the regular 3.0 (which has always crashed and hung for me due to the number of hodlings I have in play) this unk version is stable and is showing all my transactions correctly.  The one machine I have that is using the regular 3.0 is missing all kinds of hodling and transfer transactions.

@wisebc I'm curious if you go to your transaction table and look at those failed transfers do you have an X in the far left column and when you mouse over it says "conflicted"

Well, i'm no help at this point.  my wallets are all reflecting normal activity and transactions now, though the 3.0 (as opposed to 3.0.0.99 unk) still hangs as 'normal'.  it's worth noting that I had no mining activity during the time with the issues.  and I am still waiting on my test depo to coinexchange to show up.

It appears we had a prolonged chain split yesterday caused by a transaction with unusual values. In that scenario, it is not unusual to lose mined blocks when the two chains converge. However, no other transactions or coins should be lost. You may need to re-index your wallet or replay transactions for things to go through, but there is no way for transactions to disappear.

I recommend checking we're all on the same chain now - use Fuzz's block explorer as a reference to see if you have the same latest block -

http://www.fuzzbawls.pw/explore/HOdlcoin/index.php

Any missing transactions - try searching for your transaction on the block explorer to see what its status is.

Use the latest source from  the master branch if you're compiling your own HOdlcoin software.

We'll need a new point wallet release as this bug is a serious DoS vulnerability.

Here's the latest -

What I think happened was that a user tried HOdling before his chain was up to date. This transaction had a maturation block that was already in the past and when miners tried to process that transaction, it caused them to crash rather than just add the transaction with 0 interest.

I've included an emergency fix in the master branch that should fix this issue, although it's a little bit difficult to fully test. I recommend immediately updating while we look at issuing a point release.

Thanks to everyone for reporting the problem and especially Optiminer for the specific bug report and fix.

think that was me then with my weird negative hodl...oopsy

Well thanks for that! Better to get this exposed and resolved earlier rather than later.

Are you saying that any mined coins during the split are lost? I saw them appear briefly in my wallet and then disappear again a few hours ago, been waiting to see if it happens again.

do you suggest a hodlcoin-qt zapwallettxes=1 to remove invalid transactions and rescan?

I see some weird messages from the daemon's VM - bad memory accesses, segfaults and the sandbox is closing the daemon for security reasons.

Either the daemon itself is malicious or there is someone trying to exploit it - I'll keep it shut for now.
any updates on this ?

Guys, I can confirm, that all issues with old unconfirmed transactions and any unsuccessful attempts of making new transaction were resolved by running "hodlcoin-qt -zapwallettxes=1".
Now everything seems to work just fine.

@ksmd thanks for the info and did you run that in the shortcut properties or .conf file or from a command line in the console?

I tried this but it didn't work for me. I am on a Mac. I still get "No block source available...".

i don't remember now, but if i hold again my balance that is now free to be used, do i get the same interest as the last year? or it is reduced?, how much is the reduction? i don't if it's worth to do it agian i see the price is increasing, or by waiting another year i would lose the possible pump, very tricky

@ayers the interest rate was highest at coin launch and has been steadily dropping although it is still an excellent rate today by any standard.

Use this handy online calculator to quickly take a look at what interest you will get if you choose to HOdl your coins... http://hodlcoin.com/interest-rates/

Ok so, I'm assuming that since no one answered my question that, yes, I have lost those coins I mined and were confirmed in my wallet.  Please explain to me how anyone was able to remove confirmed transactions from my wallet.  It doesn't matter to me whether it was 3 blocks or 300, I've completely lost faith in the integrity of this system.  If this can happen, what's to stop someone from reaching in and taking all of my mined coins?  I had high hopes for this coin but its obviously not for me if there's a chance I can lose an entire day's worth of mining, or more.

Good luck all!

I kind of agree here. One would think this would be fixed by now. Have the developers even commented on these issues? I have thousands of coins missing. Probably need to rip the bandaid off now. Frustrating and sad.

Many daemons were crashing due to the bug that existed in the code. This meant the number of nodes dropped suddenly probably leaving some nodes disconnected from the others leading to a network partitioning. If you then mine on such a partitioned network there will be a temporary fork that gets resolved once the nodes fully connect again. This is likely what has happened here. Your coins did not disappear. Just your mined blocks became orphans. No coins or transactions before the split were lost. This was just a temporary glitch.

Make sure you run a node with the bug fix and that it is synced to the same blocks as shown in pools and explorers before making transactions or solo mining.

"Make sure you run a node with the bug fix"

So how the fck do we do that?

Waste of my frikkin time and other resources mining this when there's buggy code that can magically make sht happen that is explained by someone waving their hands around vaguely and saying "oh yeah, well, that can happen, yeah from time to time".  Get off the ganja and do some serious testing, release a professional product and maybe it will get taken seriously.  Technical chops ain't enough to get a community backing a coin.  Good code and rapid and professional support are a good start.

Geez, does anyone not learn in this game???
