Right now yea definitely. Bitcoin is the dream medium for illegal transactions, it's unregulated and anonymous plus you can send any amount of money to anyone anywhere in the world at no cost. I believe criminal activities account for a nice portion of daily Bitcoin movement.

I do not understand why those guys do not use the Monero. That is a true anonymous coin. Bitcoin is just pseudo anonymous.

With Monero they might not be able to move as much money without destabilizing the market. Monero daily volume has ranged between $30,000 to $500,000 so far in 2016. And it has never reached above $1,000,000. Plus Bitcoin is anonymous enough right now since ID verification is not required. You can track the movement of coins but you can't really tie them to an individual or group.

The Monero movement cannot be tracked, where the bitcoin can be. So for the privacy concerned people, they should use Monero.

Lol altcoin probably not very well known. maybe they will not know about altcoin etherum or another? for bitcoin is still decentralized and anonymous. then bitcoin is very safe to use as currency in illegal activity. so do not need another altcoin for bitcoin still have that function

Yes, aside from being used in the legal way it can be used in illegal transactions. There is a movie based on a true story pertaining a person who sell drugs in exchange for bitcoins. The same way it happens everyday girls would show their naked bodies for a price of btc. Public officials paying internet individuals to destroy other politicians on social media through bitcoins.

Yes Bitcoin is beiing used for illegal activities.  Even in the early stage of Bitcoin it is being used for illegal activities like buying drugs, underground trades of firearms and prostitution. It was used coz of the anonymity feature of BTC. And according to the history, it was firstly used in this area before the wide range adoption of legal merchants.

Bitcoin can be used for illegal activities like gambling, scam, and the others. But do you think only bitcoin? Fiat and other online currencies also can be used for illegal activites. Basically bitcoin is same as fiat, it can be used for a good thing or a bad thing depend on the users. Right now many criminals are using bitcoin because bitcoin is half-anonymous, same as deep web and other stuffs to protect your privacy but were abused by criminals. Also remember, governments maybe hate bitcoin but they will not be able to ban bitcoin because it's only online currency, not a paper currency.

Yeah, it's can make a bad name for bitcoin or fall the bitcoin reputation, maybe is better to bitcoin to make an improvisation with their security and it's difficult to make an illegal activity.

Yes there are. Anyone, regardless of the purpose, can use Bitcoin unless if the government intervenes. Even though there are illegal activities involving bitcoin, it can still be regulated by the government. So we do not really worry much about that.

We are here to give you all the latest from the Cryptocurrency space!

I see more and more acrticles of bitcoin being used for illegal activities
will this hurt bitcoin in the long run , will governments ban this just like they started to do wih paying in cash for some services
to harden the use of illegal , and money laundering
You can't blame bitcoin for this only the people who use it for buying/selling illegal stuff.
Goverments can't just ban it only make it illegal, but this is not enough to make someone stop using bitcoin if he doesn't want to.

Still secret services of different countries to cope with illegal business on the Internet, due to the fact that they can keep track of customer payments to dealers. Since before 2009 did not exist Bitcoin technology that allows you to remain anonymous for security services and keep their money at home on the computer. Because until now the three benefits of digital currency Bitcoin, which took them into service, it is anonymous (pseudo), decentralized, the ability to keep their money in their own computer. That's just why Bitcoin technology is widely used by the underworld and not only.

well, it depends on the person who holding bitcoin if he wants to use it for illegal activities. i think the kind of ponzi schemes is already illegal.

Definitely. Bitcoin is there available for all to access for free, as it is an open P2P technology. What people choose to do with their bitcoins however, is entirely up to them.

However, bitcoin is certainly being used for illegal activities, mostly via the deep web.

Well, yeah. Bitcoin is a legal currency in most countries except a few. However, because it is mostly anonymous and decentralized, it also means that people use it for illegal stuff like drugs.

But you can buy drugs with any currency, cash, bank transfer, anything. Not just BTC.

Bitcoin is used for illegal activities just like real world currencies like USD, EUR are being used for massive drug transfer deals with the Colombians and anyone doing this risky business. They cannot do it via Bitcoin because sooner or later they need to exchange it to cash so the most perfect payment for them is cash by hand. By saying this, bitcoin is used for illegal activity but never in the same level as the USD or the EUR, you can rest assured for this. So by this comparison, bitcoin is more of a legal usage currency rather than illegal one when we compare volumes in illegal activities in bitcoin and FIAT currencies.

Bitcoin is used for illegal activities, at the same the illegal usage is gradually decreasing because most newbies and new adopters are using it as a investment and earning.

it will be but i think the other local currency is also use for such activities. so i think it is not such a big issue. because if people are using it for illegal activites similarly other people are using it for good activites.

Sort of a ridiculous question.. Of course it's being used in illegal activities, on a much larger percentage then cash. Everyday that goes by tho, cryptocurrency is being increasingly widely used for legal transactions.
