Perspective -- this is an image from Las's server. I assume it was his balance ~June 2010 by the modified date.

... So don't make fun of him too much -- it's quite possible he's a very, very wealthy fellow right now. Wink

WRITE A STORY ABOUT HOW HE PAYED $18,000 FOR SOME PIZZA
Dude! what the hell was the value of coins when you traded Ten Thousand Coins, for some pizza!!!!!
Thats $18,000Usd in todays market!!!!

April 24th 2011

This story will have to have built-in inflation for the numbers because now that pizza is worth about $50,000 down from $300,000 at BTC High of $30

The balance of 34k bitcoins appears to be from June 12 or thereabouts. On that same day, laszlo wrote this:

Quote
This is an open offer by the way.. I will trade 10,000 BTC for 2 of these pizzas any time as long as I have the funds
So perhaps he blew it on three more orders of pizza. When laszlo closed the offer on 4 August, he wrote this:

Quote
Well I didn't expect this to be so popular but I can't really afford to keep doing it  ... Thanks to everyone who bought me pizza already but I'm kind of holding off on doing any more of these for now
That strongly implies that there was more than one 10,000 BTC pizza purchase, so maybe he blew the 34k BTC on three more pizza purchases. Either way, it was incredibly cool at the time for laszlo to demonstrate that one could buy physical goods with numbers calculated on one's computer.

Ya know, I've thought about all sides of this thread, but you gotta realize that no one had any idea that bitcoins would become worth more than perhaps pennies each.

I "should" save my bitcoins, and if they ever take off, I'll grumble to myself about not saving.  Honestly, however, I don't feel bad about spending them as I get them now (I'll save a couple at least) since I then have something tangible to show for it, not knowing if they'll explode in value, or crash.  So I do the happy medium and spend like "free" cash (like when you find a $20 in your pocket when you get out your heavy coat for the winter.). I'll pay 10,000 bitcoins for a couple of pizzas.. like maybe 2 large ones so I have some left over for the next day.  I like having left over pizza to nibble on later.  You can make the pizza yourself and bring it to my house or order it for me from a delivery place, but what I'm aiming for is getting food delivered in exchange for bitcoins where I don't have to order or prepare it myself, kind of like ordering a 'breakfast platter' at a hotel or something, they just bring you something to eat and you're happy!

I like things like onions, peppers, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, pepperoni, etc.. just standard stuff no weird fish topping or anything like that.  I also like regular cheese pizzas which may be cheaper to prepare or otherwise acquire.

If you're interested please let me know and we can work out a deal.

Thanks,
Laszlo

I'll see your 10,000 and lower you about 9997. Smiley

then please compose two huge culinary delights for me:

Matsutake Mushrooms
Golden Leaves
Wagyu Steak Stripes
Samundari Khazana
Yubari Melon
Almas Caviar
White Truffle

and don't be stingy! I assume a wine is included? Mouton Rothschild 1945 would be sufficient.

Uh can't find a pizza place that sells pizza with those things sorry. Would you settle for Cheese? And I made no mention of wine being included, especially since I can't verify that you are over 21.

$70,000 pizzas and counting.  Would be cool if the guy he bought the pizzas from still had the BTC and posted a picture of the house he bought with them.
