After leaving a great race behind, we are getting close to another one day by day. The Turkish GP is one of the very special races. It was like the race would be removed from the calendar again. But after a postponement, we are going to be able to watch the race in two weeks. I remember the race last year. The track was really problematic as it was very slippery. But this time, I don't expect this. We will be able to watch a more decent race.

The Turkish GP practice session starts on 8 October and the race is on the 10th of October. Pretty excited for this one. Last time Hamilton won the race with a timing of 1:42:19.313 (source - Wikipedia) and even this year, Hamilton is looking in very good shape. He just bagged the 100th win of his career a few days back. This fine just ages like a fine wine - getting better every day. I have a strong feeling that Hamilton will win this one as well, maybe he will get a good competition from Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.

What a mistake from Lando Norris he threw away his first victory in formula one.

Fun race especially in the end with a deserved podium for Sainz.

Bottas is a ghost.

But is it totally just Norris’ fault or is his team is also part of the blame?  I think the guys on the radio should have been firm that he needs to pit right away.  From the limited info we have with what we heard with the team radio, it looked like the guys on the other end were not firm or maybe were not even sure heavy rain was coming.

I’m gonna do some reading and see what I find...

Norris is a very very young racer, he is only 21 years old. Dude never won a race before and he saw Hamilton not pitting when he was asked, which means he assumed Hamilton would not pit and he was basically asked "would you like to lose your first position now, come back as second with fresh ints and try to overtake Hamilton with that?" and obviously the answer to that would be no at that point. What happened aftewards is not really fully on him, he should have been insisted to come pit as soon as Hamilton did it as well.

In any case, obviously he was wrong, and obviously he should have pitted, but dude is 21 years old trying to keep Hamilton behind to his first victory, it is expected of him to make these mistakes early on. What I believe he got was growing pains, you learn like this, many racers made a lot of mistakes when they were young and they learn and they do not repeat it.

Think about it this way, if you had a sword and shield to fight, and the other guy brings out a brand new and very sharp sword and a very tough to break shield, while you are holding a run down and old sword and a very breakable shield, wouldn't you go and change yours to a new one as well? Hamilton and the Mercedes team knows that they can't win every single race left, and this was the chance they had to hold Verstappen away but the rain was unlucky for them, sure they won the race but they also couldn't keep verstappen away and dude came in second, this was a dream result for Max.

So, I would assume that they would give up on a race, maybe it will happen in the next few ones, or maybe it will not happen at all, maybe it will be just wait until there is a penalty so that they can combine them together like Max did? But it will have to be done eventually otherwise Hamilton is racing with old engine versus brand new of Max's engine.

I’m gonna do some reading and see what I find...

Such things can happen to young drivers, he will learn from it and will also take a few more victories, McLaren is becoming more competitive every year. Such a risk can also go well, if who can still remember the slick ride in Spielberg at the MotoGP? There Brad Binder has also risked everything and it is just gone on him, Norris had bad luck the rain are more and more.

As I understood...

Lando and his team were talking and they choose to stay on track when the rain started.
After few minutes the team asked Lando the situation and he said something like "the rain is not increasing in quantity"

A few moments later he spoke and said something like "rain is increasing".
Then the team said to Lando, "Lewis is changing his tyres".

And finally, Lando replied "we chose to stay out and now we are committed"

I think the team on the radio should have been more proactive in taking their decisions. Maybe they were not sure if Lando should pit or not but we all know that whatever decision the radio team took,  went kind of South for them, which is very unfortunate. But I feel like they should have been more cautious about the weather because it had already rained the previous days and as rain can change the track quite a bit, they should have been more careful about when it might come, even it were to come, what to do in that situation.

There was a part of the race when the pit was telling Norris to box but then he replied with a big ‘no’ in team radio.  The pit should have been more firm and decisive since they had all the data and the driver doesn’t have all the info the pit has.  And with so much going on with driving at 250 - 300 kph.  Lol.

I would totally understand in that specific situation. If it was like maybe one lap or two lap ago then Lando would definitely pitted, but we are talking about like lap 49 or something when Lewis pitted, at that point the earliest Lando could pit was lap 50, and there were only 3 laps left. I would definitely understand if the question was asked like at 48th, if he had the chance to pit at 48th and Lewis pitted at 47th then that would be easy choice to make.

However at such a late stage, if the rain didn't get worse, or more like if the track didn't get that slippery, dude would have definitely reached to the end with those tires, all he had to do was be slow but sure. At a certain point it was so slow that I am pretty sure he may have lost even without getting any slippery part, Lewis was THAT much faster when he slipped, so it was a possibility.

It is now official the GP of Australia will be raced in Qatar on the 21 November.

Also, they have signed a new deal for 10 more years of racing in Qatar.

Yes I just saw this in their Instagram official page,I think is better than Australia for us Europeans as we don't have to wake up in 6 AM in the morning to see the Australian GP,while we can easily see the Qatar GP which by the way will be a night race which is even better,so we will be closing our F1 Championship in the Gulf with the 2 last races being Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi in December, perfect temperatures for a race during that time in these places.

Does anyone ever wonder what would happen if teams didn't had any limitations at all? I mean it would definitely be very very dangerous but what happens if you just let teams build any car they want? Teams will not end up creating cars that would crash neither, it "may" crash but that happens in F1 currently as well, they would just make it a little bit more dangerous I assume but they wouldn't want to crash neither, after all who would want to crash out and not get any points.

You can't just have "one game with no rules on cars" (still rules while driving, you can't just crash into other cars knowingly) because that would mean teams would need to spend money on cars that would be limitless but also would cost money and wouldn't worth for one race. I really do wonder how much FIA is limiting cars and apparently start of next season they will limit it even more.

I don't know how about others, but I kinda miss times when I had to wake up at 6 AM on Sunday to watch first race of season. Difficult, but I'm ready to sacrifice my sleep for F1 Cheesy.
Another track in the middle of desert. It fits for Moto GP, but I'm not surehow about F1.
F1 promotes "We race as one", human rights and similar stuff and at the same time they race in countries like Saudi Arabia or Qatar. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

@LTU_btc I definitely do not miss getting up so early, but whenever I did and the race was interesting it was definitely worth it. Also it’s fair to assume it’s about money I’m not sure how or what’s the deal but F1 like any other sport needs money, and these countries as we know can provide it even in covid times.

There it is also mainly about the money, I find the course very boring how do you see it?

This week is finally MotoGP again at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas.

Except for one race Marc Marquez won all races there, last year there was no race. I think we will see a new winner this year, probably Bagnaia or Fabio?

Waking up early or sometimes not even going to bed in order to watch the match has another level of excitement to it. Yes, it's convenient to watch the race at times like the afternoon or evening, but nothing beats the adrenaline rush of waking up early in the morning just to binge F1. This is one of my favorite things to do. And same as you, not so sure about the track in the middle of a desert, will the sun and the temperature have an effect?

Bagnaia probably, Ducati is in a so good shape right now...

It will make interesting the end of the season, if I'm not mistaken there is 50 points in advantage for Quartararo and 4 races left...

Instagram page with the official announcement of Qatar extending 10 years was full of angry comments like human rights violation and stuff like this.Personally I saw the race track layout at Saudi Arabia and it was nearest to the Red Sea I believe which to me it looked fantastic. As for me I like very much races near the sea and this in Saudi Arabia was extremely near, making it even dangerous so can't wait for early December.Probably human rights are overlooked when we talk about money like in every other business not just in F1 and F1 is no distinction to that.

Yes, tracks alongside seas are magnificent to watch. It pleases the eyes so much and blows a refreshing wind in the environment. And I agree with you about the business stuff. Just look at the wages of top football players whereas there are still people not having food in Africa. So you just can't argue about that. This world is a place where business will win over hunger. So if that were to be kept aside, we should be having an interesting race in the Middle Eastern part.
