The last driver to become world champion using a Honda engine was Ayrton Senna in the 1991 F1 season... The success of leading Max Verstappen to become the 2021 F1 world champion is also a perfect cover for Honda...(After 30 years without a Champion)

Since some time ago Honda has stated that it will leave F1 racing after the 2021 season ends... Honda decided to leave F1 in 2020 ago.. In a statement, Honda said the decision to leave F1 was because the automotive industry underwent a period of enormous transformation in a hundred years ...

It has been known since the start of the season that Red Bull will not be using Honda engine perse, but their own engine. They purchased the factory the formula 1 engines were manufactured for Honda, which in return means Red Bull basically has their own engine factory nowadays, it is still Honda obviously and they hired their staff and all, it is just that the costs will be paid by Red Bull and not Honda, so Honda will not be paying for that factory anymore but will not be getting the profits from it neither, whereas Red Bull will have to pay for it but they will not be paying Honda anymore. It is still sort of the same thing, doesn't really change much if you ask me.

Maybe Honda are going to let Red Bull use their engine in the next season also but I wonder what will happen after the next season. Red Bull can keep being one of the strongest teams in the next season I guess. But after that, they will have to build and develop their own engine. And if they don't build an engine as good as Honda's in the worst case, then they might start having big problems. And we might even see Verstappen joining a bigger team of that time then.

If I remember correctly, Honda will lease the base engine to the red bull.
The basic engines will be the same until 2026 but can be developed, especially in the electrical part, every certain time period.
Honda will no longer do this development for Red Bull but Red Bull will have to do it on their own, like a real team.

^  RBR took over the works premises where they build and develop the engines, including all the engineers and other key staff who work in it afaik.  So it’s not like they’re going to be ‘lost’ in building and developing the engines.  It’s really a serious attempt from RBR to be an engineering and tech company.  It’s a total 180 from just being a team in F1 to advertise energy drinks.

It is no surprise that the champion didn't change. Maybe FIA would have decided that Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton would share the championship. But it would have been really awkward at the same time.    I heard some time ago that Hamilton didn't want Mercedes to object to the final decision once more. It looks like Mercedes cared about his personal opinion. They should already have known that the final decision wouldn't change from now on. If it did, it would have happened after the first objection.

F1 is also no longer what it used to be... Unfortunately!
The last few years my interest has somehow decreased.
The cars alone are no longer what they used to be.
I mean clearly technical progress is perfectly normal and important. But the old V8 or V10 engines are simply legendary.
For me the greatest F1 driver was Michael Schuhmacher, but since he retired from F1, I have never again found someone as great as him.

People are going to think that FIA did everything for Verstappen to win the title this season from now on. And some people are also going to say that FIA were doing much more than this to help Hamilton win some of his titles. And I can't blame any of this kind of people because FIA's calls were really unbelievable from time to time. They have been making big mistakes sometimes and it costs Hamilton the title now.

It would also make look Mercedes look really bad if they keep dragging it until next year and possbily until the start of the new season?  It’s totally not worth it imho.  Just pick themselves up, dust themselves and start preparing for another campaign for the next season.  And really...  I’m kinda liking Hamilton now with how he’s so gracious in defeat.  I hope it’s another close one next season.  Excited to see Russell in that Merc.

Hamilton is really a very gracious driver about this situation. If it happened to Verstappen, I guess that he would have been very angry at FIA and talked about this to people for a long time. I don't say that it is wrong. Of course, one should defend their right in such situations. But even though Hamilton was very disappointed after losing his deserved title by a simple mistake, he didn't continue to argue about it anymore. He even caused Mercedes to withdraw their last appeal.

Red bull has become so famous because they started to massively sponsor Athlete in almost every Sport there is a long time ago already. As far as i know they are the main sponsor of at least 3 football (soccer) clubs with salzburg, Leipzig and New York but i would guess that their own F1 team is by far the biggest Marketing expense of Red bull. F1 teams spend around 100 to 400 million € per year and i highly doubt that Red Bull is selling that much more energy drinks to make up for that.

I'm not sure how much of it was Hamilton pressure, and how much of it was the fact that the appeal would be judged by the FIA... and it would have been extremely unlikely that the FIA would rule against themselves. AFAIK they could only have gone higher (to CAS) if both parties (i.e. Mercedes and the FIA) agreed to it... which the FIA obviously would not do. Looks like Mercedes only hope was that the FIA would rule against themselves. It's not a great look for the sport when they can change championship results on a whim, in contravention of the rules and precedents, and then not be held accountable.

Wolff said Mercedes would "hold the FIA to account" but he had "confidence, trust and faith" that the teams and drivers could work with the governing body to create a "more robust decision-making process".
He said that Mercedes believed they would have won their case on pure legal grounds but they did not think the FIA court of appeal would reach the right judgement.
"The FIA can't really mark their own homework," Wolff said. "There is a difference between being right and obtaining justice."

The 2021 season finale will be judged by many as the FIA (Masi) thinking "oh, we're going to get the same champion again, we don't want that, let's make up new rules so this other guy will be champion instead". Which isn't really sport. And it's not really fair on Max either, he won't be "2021 champion", he'll be "2021 champion, but" or "2021 champion* (see footnote)".

Often, it wasn't even close between Red Bull and Mercedes. It's over-simplifying a bit, but for the first half of the season Red Bull were often much quicker than Mercedes. Then their flexing wing got banned. Then in the second half of the season, Mercedes were often much quicker than Red Bull.

I think this was masked a bit by Max and Lewis being much better drivers than their team-mates. If all 4 drivers across Red Bull and Mercedes were of a similar standard, then I think we'd have seen a lot of Red Bull 1-2s in the first half of the season, and then a lot of Merc 1-2s later on. The pattern is also hidden by differing qualifying set-up, variable weather conditions, and brute luck (and in the case of Abu Dhabi, Masi ripping up the rulebook).

Just something I’ve been thinking of asking everybody after the end of the season.  Have you guys made some money betting on F1?  I admit, I lost money betting on this market.    Nothing much as I just bet small.  But I’ve been wondering how you guys did. I think the F1 betting market is def hard to beat...  If not the hardest.  But maybe that’s just me amd you guys actually made money.  Lol.

Yes, I made a bit betting on Verstappen to be champion. I put a bet down very early on, when it became clear in pre-season testing that Mercedes had some serious problems with the new rules.
Other than that I've made a bit and lost a bit on various races through the season. One thing I do quite well on is whether or not there will be a safety car during the race... you can often get a decent feel for this during the practice sessions. And one thing I never ever bet on is who will get fastest lap... it's rarely the fastest driver, and is often some tactical thing based on how the race has played out and who sits where with what time gap to be able to afford another pit stop for fresh softs.

Not the same thing.

Rossi won with Honda the year before and the people of Max Biaggi were saying "he win only because Honda is better".
The following year Max Biaggi and Rossi swapped the moto and Rossi won again with Yamaha while Biaggi lost with the Honda.

I think this is the only time when Rossi cried in a track.


However, Quartararo won but the stronger opponent was missing.
