^  Did you really watch it?  The race was obv far from ‘amazing’.  Lol.  It was really boring except for the Leclerc vs Perez race battle.  But other than that, it was all so so..

Last year Turkey GP was much more exciting. It was raining heavily and we watched a lot of competition in the race. But this year was a bit more boring than last year, that's true.
However, it was much more enjoyable than most races this season. The race was slower than usual due to the slippery road. Tire choices played a big role in determining the ranking. Carlos Sainz performed very well but could not finish with a very good ranking due to mistakes in the team

One thing that did surprise me was the qualifying. I didn't expect both Mercs to be ahead of Verstappen. And even though he started from pole, I certainly didn't expect Bottas to be able to hold off Verstappen for the full race. I didn't manage to watch the race, I just followed bits of it on text, but it was surprising. Is this supposed to be a strong Merc track? If so, I wasn't aware. If not, then does it mean Mercedes are now looking stronger for the remaining races this season? Either way it seems fairly likely the championship won't be decided until the very last race.

I also didn't watch the race so much but Bottas winning the race a bit surprised me not gonna lie. He wasn't having that good of a year till now. He will be joining Alfa Romeo next year and before that he has won himself this race. If I'm not wrong, the Turkish track is slightly straightforward, so the Mercs will get some advantage not much, but these little things matter a lot in the longer run. But one thing I have to say is that Verstappen has been very consistent in the last couple of months. He has even now the ranked 1 racer overtaking Hamilton.

The race was quite boring, the most interesting part was the recovery from Sainz but when the track dried up a little he couldn't go outside the "perfect line" and it was impossible to overtake more.

Hamilton did a mistake not listening to his team, does it cost the Mondial to him? we will see.

Ferrari may decide the Mondial in one direction or the another one, with the upgrade of the engine it seems they can fight maybe for wins.

^ Yeah, Last year's Turkish GP has to be one of my favorite races. Rain makes the races so much more enjoyable. Also, I wouldn't say that this race was boring, it was kind of okayish type. I was disappointed about Hamilton's positioning. His team made some wrong pit calls and that made him finish only 5th. I think this race was competitive among the first 4 or 5 racers excluding Bottas as he was quite far ahead of the rest. The competition between Perez, Leclerc, Hamilton, and Gasly is what I enjoyed very much.

Yep, I watched it from the start to the end.    Maybe it was about the atmosphere but I still enjoyed it even if it was not maybe "amazing".    I must admit one thing of course that the Turkish GP in 2020 was much more exciting than this. Because the track condition was really bad and the rain made it even more problematic for the drivers. But it was a lot of fun for the spectators that's for sure.

Rather than Leclerc vs Perez battle, I think the one between Perez and Hamilton was more attracting. Because Perez got past Leclerc very easily as Leclerc was having a traction problem. He said on the radio also that he had very little grip. So, he couldn't resist Perez much.

I am upset that Lando finished so low in the race, wished he was doing better but it was obvious from the get go that he wouldn't be able to finish in podium this race. Aside from that it was "good" racing and I enjoyed it, even that Vettel decision that looked so lost was just something that brought a special thing to the race. I mean not like he is fighting for championship anyway so it was nice that he was the one that tried it and everyone else realized it wasn't happening at all.

Perez vs Hamilton fight there was something awesome to watch as well, Hamilton might have pushed a little too much when Perez almost went into pitlane because of it, but he got it back so it is all good. I believe it wasn't a horrible race, but it wasn't amazing neither, it was just a "decent" race that I enjoyed watching, we can't have amazing races every week.

In general the second drivers haven't been good enough this year. It's been all Hamilton vs Verstappen. If you have two teams fighting for the title, then the performance of the second driver is crucial. Bottas should be taking points off Verstappen every time it's a circuit where Mercedes dominate, and Perez should be doing the same to Hamilton every time it's a Red Bull circuit. Plus, at every track the second driver should be able to cover off any potential undercut by the #1 driver of the opposing team. But it was nice this time that both second drivers played a valuable role.

I don't think everyone is here just for the signature and the betting, I think it's interesting to share topics and discuss race outcomes. I myself bet rather less only on big events but I don't have much luck there, unfortunately I'm not Gladstone Gander

He is a good second drive for Redbull.

Personally, I don't bet much on F1. Sometimes I make H2H bets or bet on race winner. But it's not football or basketball, motorsport just isn't best sports.
I'm here more for discussions and it's great that we have people who are genuinely interested in F1 and we can have deeper discussion. Not like in most football threads :/.

One thing I never bet on is fastest lap, because it's rarely given to the driver who is actually the fastest. Often anyone who's in the top 10 and has a 20 second gap to the next driver will gamble with a late stop, and use the combination of fresh tyres and an empty fuel tank to go for the extra point. I suppose it does add a bit to the race, but they should really rename it, as 'fastest lap' suggests fastest driver, which is often not the case at all... because the fastest driver is at the front, not willing to gamble throwing 25 points away on a dodgy pit stop even if they have a decent gap to 2nd place.

Personally, I don't bet much on F1. Sometimes I make H2H bets or bet on race winner. But it's not football or basketball, motorsport just isn't best sports.
I'm here more for discussions and it's great that we have people who are genuinely interested in F1 and we can have deeper discussion. Not like in most football threads :/.

@tokeweed I haven’t seen people post here what they have wagered on the result etc especially for F1, and this particular thread gives me more detailed insights then the media outlets.

@LTU_btc I second that as discussions here are more realistic and on point rather than fabricating it to look like one has wagered on the outcome, also if someone wishes to share their bets feel free to do so.

I would say the same, except that Perez is still below his potential, Bottas has a benefit for Mercedes, he also continuously scores points for the Constructors' World Championship, Perez still has to improve. But I think he will, he gets along better and better with the car and will also score more and more continuously.

Bottas will fade into obscurity at Alfa, how long did Bottas get a contract, after that will be the end of career.

I think the best example is currently and the last year Kimi, with his car it is the last few years impossible to get under the points in a normal race and in the radio calls you can still hear that he is motivated to drive, but now he hangs the Formula 1 helmet on the nail, if he wanted he would have certainly still got a contract.

Alonso and Vettel have at least a car that can drive in the points, Aston Martin and Renault are strong enough on their own to get into the points, Alfa had certainly also by the weak engine the last 2 years big problems.

Since it was announced that he is going to be an Alfa Romeo driver as of the next season, he has collected more points than Hamilton and Verstappen.

Bottas : 51 pts
Verstappen : 36 pts
Hamilton : 35 pts

It looks like Bottas is driving much more freely now and showing his real performance. He has been supressed by Hamilton a lot so far. The team cared about Hamilton more as he is in the title race with Verstappen. Bottas nearly always needed to give up his place to Hamilton. Bottas must be feeling really comfortable now.
