Also, I always read that Golem is doing everything so well.
So here is the deal:

When Golem launches and I fail to identify a simple way to exploit their system (submitted to their own bug report system of course), I will donate everything what is right now in my private bank account to the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation.

OK, i will be the witness and bring all those dogs and cats their beloved Chappie and Whiskas. Gonna be a hell of a feast.  Wink

You really demand too much from a person who's doing everything all alone.

You guys just don't know how to wait. Have you heard anything about eMunie project (now called Radix)? That's where investors have really steel nerves... Grin
There is only 1 developer as well and it was going to launch back in... 2014... in 2014!!! But the work is still in progress and day after day it becomes better and better!
eMunie had milestones long ago, but later the developer and founders decided to use "it's ready when it's ready"  formula and now after such a long time investors agree with them.
Because they believe everything must be perfect before it goes live.

Same thing should happen to Elastic. It will be better for all of us.

EK said we'd have documentation for PR, website, marketing, etc. on the 26th of last month.  There's been no mention of it since.

Once I am finished with everything and have brought everything to a point that it all works, I am outta here.

I am dedicating a large portion of my life for this, many hours per day where others go swimming or watch some movies, and I really try to get everything right. And if something comes up that was not planned, I hit the reset button and do it over - just because I want to make it perfect for you guys.

But the more I do, the more people demand from me without even honoring what I have done so far. And if I need a few days longer I naturally become the asshole.

What once began like a fun and thrilling project becomes a true burden. I don't even like to come here anymore, because all I read is "mainnet?" "why is no documentation there?" "why is not this and that there?" "where are you? You have not reported to me for 2 days".

Regarding the status: almost done! The thing is ... do we want it "working somehow" or "working well". The working "somehow" is ready right now, the "well" needs some more testing over the weekend. We have supernodes for a day ... I don't feel comfortable to NOT test it well.

Thanks for the update. If you have something new we could test over the weekend please drop a note. I could start testing it Friday/Saturday/Sunday night.

Cheers

@EK you're godlike for this project (not only but for all crypto world). Don't get me wrong. I want as much success for Elastic as you. Thing is you want to polish Elastic as much as you can and I think that when this polishing happening would be very, I mean very good for Elastic that lot of people could exchange Elastic. Mainly dump of course (I'm pessimistic, I assume lot of people will dump at start) and this would be very good for Elastic to get rid of early dumpers (and gain new believers/developers) when project is in development. Coin is quite ready for months from now and we should consider (if you planning more delays) launching mainnet (soon this word will be banned in this thread Smiley ). I mentioned Golem not because it's somehow better than Elastic (it's not from my point of view), I mentioned Golem because guys behind Golem think in business, awareness and economic way. There are many examples in the world when better idea lost with good advertised ideas.

Would be nice to get liquid though. Many of us are interested in buying, and that interest will go down if waited too long.

I got some Golem while waiting. Just cause.

EK, I understand how frustrating it might be for you to feel that some people here do not really appreciate all you have done for this project and the sacrifice you made. You are a person who strives for perfection and that is something to admire in my view. I think that this project could have never had a better dev than you for many reasons.
Please remember that even though there might be some people who voice their desire to see a launched system now, most of us here completely support your view to get it right, and are happy to wait as long as it takes without any complaints.
Your are very very much appreciated here and I really hope that you can still find a nice place in the project to be willing to stay and give it from your light.
I know my words might not mean much, but know they are true and come from an honest place.
Please stay, even if on a more limited capacity. Your integrity and talent are of the fundemental reasons xel is such a great project.

Hah, I guess you can relate to Marcus Aurelius, who had to often remind himself of the nature of people.

“Begin each day by telling yourself: Today I shall be meeting with interference, ingratitude, insolence, disloyalty, ill-will, and selfishness – all of them due to the offenders’ ignorance of what is good or evil. But for my part I have long perceived the nature of good and its nobility, the nature of evil and its meanness, and also the nature of the culprit himself, who is my brother (not in the physical sense, but as a fellow creature similarly endowed with reason and a share of the divine); therefore none of those things can injure me, for nobody can implicate me in what is degrading. Neither can I be angry with my brother or fall foul of him; for he and I were born to work together, like a man’s two hands, feet or eyelids, or the upper and lower rows of his teeth. To obstruct each other is against Nature’s law – and what is irritation or aversion but a form of obstruction.”

Leeches out in full force trying to make money off someone else's hard work.. Standard crypto. Give the guy a fucking break, he's clearly working hard.

Let him release the mainnet when he is ready? If you have questions, go to Slack or search the thread instead of asking and demanding the same shit over and over.

hi EK, we have all praised you for your hard work. There would be almost impossible to go through the 220 pages of this thread and not see your name and your work being mentioned with honor and appreciation. I think community getting a bit impatient seeing incomplete projects like Golem getting so much attention and our awesome Elastic most people never heard of.
Another reason is most of us bystanders just feel helpless . We have no tasks ( although we want to get involved with translation, advertising, testing,....) and we look up to you for guidance. Almost all of us here see you as a leader rather than an employee.

People whining about delays is nothing new and really everyone here should know and expect it. Telling people to STFU and appreciate might feel good (if you are the obnoxious type) but is ultimately pointless and can even discourage legitimate discussion about... the net that is not testnet  Tongue

Would it not help progress if it launched though? Suddenly you have tons of people "testing" and bugs come out faster. Of course you'd have to have a disclaimer about the software not being final and subject to many future hard forks.

It might also attract new developers and that can be crucial. EK is feeling the burnout right now. The whining may be the cause but I really doubt it is the reason. And we all know right now, no matter how good the stuff he delivers is, if he wants out the project is doomed unless he is replaced be one or more developers of equal skill and dedication

You'd get rid of all the launching questions. Instead the thread would be dominated by complains about low price and dumping. There will always be whining so long as the project is alive and has people interested in it. No way around it.

But price and dumping would not matter in the long run as things will reach equilibrium

EK, no one doubts the dedication, resolve and determination you've shown towards completing this project.  As you say, a large portion of your life has gone into this when you could have been spending your time doing other things and I and the community at large really do appreciate all the hard work you've put in.  Many of us wish that the burden had not been so squarely placed on your shoulders and that more developers could have helped you with your tasks.

While there may not have been many developers around to help you, there are still many of us that wish to help to make this project a success.

The answer to a single question would mean that many of us could take part in the process of letting with world know about the amazing work you, coralreefer and others have achieved.

That question is:

When you are finished with everything and have brought everything to a point that it all works, what actions will Elastic be able to perform?

EK and rest of the devs , you are the ones that delivering XEL to life . Take your time , we surely can't push you . I think that the whole community understand that you are doing your best ( even if some people are unpatient ) .
