Also asked questions about my partially paid order, which were never answered. So I decided not to buy.

Any reviews from btcfoundation ?? About there unit???
why do they not post any experiences?

Maybe They donn't own THE 2nd unit but was it only à demo and made THE worst poor crapy vid of 2013

Conspiracy theory:
Really why is there no revieuw or something ....or is there just 1 device Yifu build in the upgrade unit and an new psu downgraded it to 3x22gh and expresse post it to Jeff from NY after smoggle it in to the country on à flight from China asking Jeff to say "my wife told me an package arrivés from CHINA" put an fake psucable with it from China so it appears to come from China, also not one stamp or seal visible from China customs on the box taped with USA DHL tape, anyone who received post from China knows what i mean, Jeff didn't provide Any tracking info proving this theory wrong....GL

Avalon ASIC where can I buy one? Be it batch 2 or 3?
Their store at http://store.avalon-asics.com/ is in a terrible state for a company selling goods over $1000 in price.
Do there exist delivered ASICs from the first batch since 19th Jan. 2013 or is jgarzik's the only one?

Two units definitely known, mine and Bitcoin Foundation's, plus possibly a third in China based on vague forum posts.

Not to troll but there is a possibility that you only recieved your ASIC to make Avalon look legit.

It is like a free commercial, just send to a reputable member and THE foundation, and people buy it.

Still if they can build one it seems to be they should be able to make as many as they want as the real costs for ASIC are development, not manufacturing. Manufacturing is just logistics and china has that crap down, there's hundreds of companies there they could farm it out to if they wanted.

The only other option is they faked the ASIC and its a bulky front end to a Fpga farm somewhere on the net.

[Tinfoil head]
Or the "ASICs" mining devices contain a bunch of expensive-as-fuck highend FPGAs to make it look like they had ASICs.

still makes jeff a happy customer :p

however, it is a little worrisome we havent seen any further news or deliveries in the past.... 2 weeks? Didnt they mention something about shipping 12 a day?

................ and everything will be clear then.
This includes also, that the other customers will know when they get their units?
Currently you would have sent about 108 units!

Ah actually, this is probably something I should update, the original plan is to assemble one and send one, of course this isn't working out, we currently have sent a batch of 53 to a different route, as it currently stands, this 53 has the biggest chance to make it out of the country, then we can attempt again if the news make it back to us before Feb 2. which is the deadline for getting things out of the country before CNY.

Honestly, this is probably something we underestimated and I'd like to personally apologize for having similarity with BFL, it is so pathetic. Then again though, since we did originally promise to ship everything out before Feb ends I don't really see a problem with this.

Couldn't have said it better myself, I'm writing up the batch #2 pre-sale thread right now.

They sent out 53 units prior to the 28th of January, they knew by Feb 2nd if they made it out of the country or not.

Many things can go wrong in a way that yes it is possible to produce a few ASICs that work, but due to glitches, localized power issues, localized heat issues, etc, the vast majority of chips fail and yields are so poor you have to just start over.

Hardware design debugging is infinitely more complex / frustrating than software debugging. With software you have a debugger and can step through the state, with hardware you have timing analysis tools, power tools, etc, etc, which all say the chip should work, but for some reason only 1% seem to function and the rest perform abnormally.

If Avalon's shipments are slow, then they have a yield problem probably related to the design, and that is an issue. If the yield is bad enough then even $2,000 for a unit may not be profitable.

Having done lots of sub-nm ASIC designs, I can say a bitcoin ASIC is tricky because it is a highly compute dense design which stresses the on-chip power rails, causing propagation issues on the clock network and all sorts of other issues if you are not very careful and conservative in the design's timings...

Having done lots of sub-nm ASIC designs,
You should just license your Zeta-Reticulian technology to us Earthlings. We would be really grateful and give you in exchange almost anything you'll ask and build temples to commemorate your revelation.
