I'm only here to start the conversation because I'm tired of seeing "Atheism is Poison" thread being bumped daily... can't you assholes give the anti-Atheist bigotry a break for a single fucking day?!?

If you really need someone to elaborate on all the ways that religion poisons people's mind, body, soul and the planet... I can do that...



Please, someone tell me how believing in a magic sky God is better than not believing in a magic sky God...  How does believing in fairy tales help a person in any way whatsoever?

have you ever experienced the hardest difficulty in this life? a difficulty that cant be solved if it only tells the other, no one understands the difficulties that you experience, if this happens to you, what will you do? to whom will you tell all these difficulties? so in this case, we are looking for a substance that we believe can help us solve all these problems. and from there came the belief in god. with our belief in God, then we will automatically trust everything he taught. because by following all his teachings we believe will get salvation. and the doctrine of god is not poison, the doctrine of God is the way of life and salvation.

The thing about Christianity is majority of them interprets the bible and follows what is written. But, they fail to see that perhaps what was written on the bible was not actually the meaning they keep on interpreting. No one can tell whether it is the right interpretation.

I am not sure whether the majority interprets the bible correctly. If that was the case, then why there are so many denominations among the Christians? And in most cases, these denominations are fighting against each other. For example, in the Northern Ireland we have the Catholics fighting against the Protestants. In the Balkans, the Catholics actually sided with the Muslims, in order to defeat the Orthodox Christians.

Dude, the truth is that Christianity is the most peaceful religion and it has allowed for the greatest advancements (not only in science, but in all other areas of human life) of history. People like to mention things like the Spanish Inquisition, but the truth is that it had a rather restricted and localized performance.

I believe that people created religions so that people can be united and avoid chaos. Religion for me is just a matter of shaping our distinc personalities to be a better person, people created different kinds of religions to resolve their unanswered questions on "Who Created Us". Have you tried reading bible? you don't need any of that, don't need any strong minds of people who has closed they eyes and heart to what has the Lord wants them to see. You have a lot of logic reasoning about God being dead, or God does not exist, try reaching Him, search for Him so you can see the truth, logically experience God, personally.

I would agree with you. Although the vast majority of the Christians are compassionate and moderate, there are a few sects and groups which spew venom at the non-Christians. Here in India, we have dozens of Christian militant organizations, especially in the north-east. And during the late 90s, there was an infamous incident in which an entire tribe of Hindus (Reang) were driven away from their homeland by these terrorists.

One thing to think about is, what is a state? It has to do with the fact that there are no nations in a natural way... in nature. After all, when you go to the border between two nations, like France and Germany for example, except for the man-made fence, the land looks the same on both sides of the border. No borders - no states - in nature.

So, what is a state? A state is really a state of mind. Then people write down their state of mind, and call it a nation state, because they wouldn't be able to remember it for long if they didn't write it down.

A state is simply a state of mind that is written down so that many people can adhere to it.

Most so called teachers and Pastors in the  Christian Religion interpret the bible based on their own understanding and not what they get from God himself. It was the interpretation of the Bible that lead to the formation of the Protestant in the first place.

In Hinduism they also have Sarahswati and Brahman, and the Christians have Sarah and Abraham.
Sarahswati and Brahman had a child named Krishna who did also messiah work like in the Christianity Crist also did.
And if that is not enough in the new testament the where talking about the 7 seals that where closed and needto be open.
While Hindus where talking about the 7 chakra's  that are sealed and need to be open.
The origins of Christianity springs back to around 6000 years ago while the Hindu's origins go's much further back to the time of 20 000 years ago and maybe even longer. The only thing that they did was camouflage Krishna and turn him into blue.

But the other religions also don't claim that they are perfect. On the other hand, the Christians are the ones who claim that everyone will go to hell unless they accept Jesus Christ as their savior. Also, we need to remember the fact that Christianity is now the largest religion in the planet (in terms of the number of followers), although Islam may overtake it in the near future.

At least the Christians are not blowing up people who are not of the same religion as they are like the Muslims are doing, and by proclaiming that no one can go to heaven without Jesus is the exact thing we Christians should be doing so if we tell you the message and you refuse to listen, that is your own loss.

That topic is somehow harsh though. Meanwhile i don't criticize peoples' religion. In any religion you believe in, make sure you find the truth. Dont only depend of what the religious leaders tell you. Use your mind power and discover the truth. If you are a christian read your bible well. Islamist read you Quran well. Etc Don't be deceived by any leader. Religion was made for men. Not men for religion.

Taking an absolute position on a 50/50 probability (God exists, or God doesn't), is pretty foolish.

So, calling myself an atheist or a Christian is just not possible. But that doesn't mean that I cannot understand the pros and cons of either or.

I think in general, taking an absolute statement about anything does more harm than good. It pays to be pragmatic, and you'll be a more open and understanding person if you are.

They may not be blowing up people in the open, but there are militant Christian groups out there (such as the NSCN and the NLFT), which would behead you if you refuse to convert to Christianity. Even then, I would say that these people represent a small fraction of the Christian population. But what irritates me is the belief of the vast majority that all the non-Christians would go to hell after their death.

religion will teach you how to be a better person, we can't compare all religion where are good it's back to your self. where you faith believe in Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Catholicism, atheists, Unreligious. so i never think Christianity is Poison or other religion is Poison, in my view all religion is same.

I agree to this, religion only tends to make us a better person, Believing that God do really exist is a good thing compared to not believing in any. When time comes and we see that God really exist then who will be the one that will regret his or her decision. You will lose nothing is you believe, so why not. I believe in the bible and the bible tells us that there will be what we call "anti christ", and as of now, I don't see someone bashing other religion, only christianity are always the one to be bashed. In that case, It strengthens by belief in the bible, saying the anti christ is coming, not anti budha, nor anti alah, but anti christ.
