Like with every other good on the world, price will change with demand. High demand -> high price. Low demand -> low price.

Due to the fact, that the S9 is the only efficient miner available to the public, Bitmain can set whatever price they want. No reason to blame them for that.

Due to the fact, that the S9 is the only efficient miner available to the public, Bitmain can set whatever price they want. No reason to blame them for that.

You could always GPU mine which has a (currently) much better ROI than a S9. How people don't see this baffles me.

Because they're retarded???

According to some members on the forum, don't blame the greedy manufacturer, just blame the noobs and ignorants.

There are also philosophical reasons to not GPU mine despite the potential for profits.

Hello all,

We are releasing two new limited-edition batches of the Antminer S9 today (13 July 2016) at 16:00 (Beijing time, GMT+8).

Batch 8 and batch 9 can deliver a hashrate of 11.85TH/s and 12.93TH/s, respectively. They are ready to ship upon order confirmation.

We advise those who missed the previous batches to confirm their orders here (https://goo.gl/SNkLVb) for batch 8 or here (https://goo.gl/clxHhx) for batch 9 while stock lasts.

We wish you all a happy mining experience,

the Bitmain team

I am sorry but I won't be buying at those prices,

You also have to ascribe an accurate decisional weight to the warranty from Bitmain. It's pretty much understood that they'll do as much as they can to deny all warranty claims, and if you read the not-so-fine print basically any feasible issue is not covered under the warranty. I would not consider a Bitmain warranty as a factor in any risk assessment. The few problems they will actually work with you on, once you factor in hassle, arguments, shipping to China and the associated revenue loss of extended downtime, it'd be cheaper to solve the problem with parts off eBay or something. If you happen to have a hashboard that fails without burning something (and therefore voiding warranty) might be a bit tricky, but what are the odds of that?

exactly what i had last week.

Left for work all 3 boards of batch 1 working fine. come home 1 board dead. tried everything to bring it back to life. nothing worked. no visible burn marks or hot spots. board was just dead. 180 in shipping later, off to warranty it goes.

What a disappointment. I'm not even tempted to buy at these prices.

Bitmain, there's lots of us waiting for your prices to make sense. Hurry up and find a reasonable price point.

To everyone else, stop paying these outrageous prices. Seriously. You're only enabling Bitmain to keep gouging.

But but but... it's LIMITED EDISHIN, collectible almost, you'll have the honor of being among the million of other suckers who fell for that.

The good news is that whoever bought Batch 2 (or was it 3?) for under 3 BTC can now sell it for a nice ROI, considering that they mined perhaps half a coin by now.

Batch2 and Batch3 was the same, only difference in price . B3 was 100 USD more as B2

The same miner 12.93 TH/s is also B7 (3,20 BTC) and B9 with price 3.05 BTC

They are not selling a ton of them.  I actually like this pricing and hope they do not budge much at all.

I think this is their best move keep the prices sky fucking high and slowly fill their hash nest with s-9's.

I would love to see batch 12 in august still be over 1700 usd.

Only idiots are buying, so it's a good way to designate idiots from the rest. At those prices they aren't selling much, so it won't murder the diff. Except if it does murder the diff it's because they're self-mining on the most profitable farm on the planet.

I've been waiting to buy a handful of these but the price is insane, batch after batch bitmain keeps the price high and ROI is impossible.  IMO buying sometime in october these s9's will be barely cheap enough to get an tiny ROI.

has anyone else noticed the big farms in china are still on S7's ...they arent even going to S9 at these prices.. and id assume they would get an even cheaper price buying in the hundreds to thousands in quantity

Because high prices like these make my batch 1 value stable.  I can list and sell them for 1900 right now as I type.

My hope is since bitmaintech is  monopoly wise  king that they stall sales via high price.  They have zero need to rush as of today.   Soooo  the wise guys that purchased batches 1 and 2  will be the winners.

Bitmaintech can make growth in difficulty fully stall..  They did it before:

Start at sept 25 2014 to Sep 16th 2015

about 360 days

we went from 34,661,425,924 to 56,957,648,455

if we do this growth from now until July 8 2017  I will do very well.

Since they are in control  it suits them to play this game exactly like that  as it will max their profit.

And it also maxes my profit since I purchased batch 1 and 2 before the ½ ing.

B9 12.93 TH/s, 3.05 BTC or $2,012 USD

They look to be on pace with the Batch 1 release if you price in BTC.  B1 was ~4 BTC and should have produced ~1 BTC by the time these are in hand.

I guess a few of the earlier adopters would have a bit more hash depending on how close they can get to the advertised 14 TH/s.

They don't give a hoot about your personal profit. In fact they f-ed all B1 buyers of S7 by constantly reducing the price.
I don't profess to know their motives. All i know is buying 2150/450 4.77 BTC at the time of purchase beats your "investment" so far with NO electricity used.
13/4.73 x440=$1200, pretty much fair price for S9 since S7 is actually worth no more than $350. 13/4.73X350=961, so i am actually adding about $250 for efficiency and S9 being "new". Unless they price the miner at $1000-1200, i am not buying for now.

So, I take it the price of S9 hasnt been corrected for halving yet? ... looks outrageously overpriced...

these new batches released after halving are still insanely priced way too high
