It looks like the S9's currently for sale are from a previous batch, batch 12.  Does anyone have them?  How is the reliability?
What gives you the idea they are from batch-12? Their speed? I see nothing in the ad saying that they old/used miners. Speed all depends on how well the latest lots of chips from TSMC test.

Bitmain will not sell miners from over 6-8 months back in the production order without stating that they are from an older run (or used). Last one I got is a batch-25.

The B12 header has been on almost every S9 sale page since B11 (and at least 3 different total hashrates), that doesn't make them B12.

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

Does anyone have the numbers on how much heat in BTU's an S9 puts out, and at what CFM? I want to calculate how much CFM my exhaust fans need to have so it exceeds the amount CFM that the miners (and swamp cooler) put out, and how much cooling I will need based upon how much heat the S9 (and dehumidifier) generates. Thanks!

1st thought should be to Google 'convert watts to BTU'. Why does no one seem to know how to use search engines....
FWIW, BTU/hr=Watts x 3.4129

The CFM, fair question. Don't think there is any data on that. I believe the fans move 250CFM free-air but under load, pure guesswork. I'd ballpark it as around 150CFM

I didn't know figuring out BTU was as simple as plugging in the number of watts, I thought it was different for every machine. Some machines are less efficient so they put out more heat per watt, some are designed better than others so they put out less heat per watt, etc. was my line of logic.

The miner efficiency is irrelevant and only compares hash rate to power used, has nothing to do with heat load.

For any electric power heat source they are all 100% efficient. Power in = power out as heat.
Cooling is of course another matter as it involves work moving heat from one location to another, not creating heat. In that case efficiency does matter but only in the sense that it takes x amount of power turned into y amount of mechanical energy (with losses turned into heat) to move z amount of heat energy.

I looked up the specs of the Antminer fans, they output 220 CFM at 6000 rpm with no diff pressure. In practice there will be diff pressure across the miner so it should be somewhat less.

What would my daily BTC be from an S9 @13.5 TH/s?

I have a chance to buy one for $1800 Canadian funds that includes power supply.

Trying to determine ROI

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

BTC/day  0.006504 before power cost

so remember to include power cost  which  is about 30 k-watts a day

Thanks. With power costs and exchange rate to CDN factored in it works out to $9.14 per day profit. So 197 days to ROI.

If you did your maths correctly, I'm guessing that most people wish they had your cheap electric rates.  Shocked

and do not forget  the diff could go up and coin price could go down or stay steady but higher diff will slow the profit.

So  maybe 250 days not 200

Hello,
I couldn't find my answer on Bitmain's website.

Is it possible to change the frequency, to underclock or overclock, the S9-13.5TH/s and S9-11.5TH/s, that are sold at the moment on Bitmain's webshop ?

Thanks

No, they auto-tune during each startup/reboot.  Been that way for many batches now.

Thanks for the heads up.

To bad Sad
The 0.1 W/Gh/s is really nice but I wanted to use less power/watts, then the stock ~1300watts.

Did you also put a governor on your car that only lets it top out at 12 MPH? Roll Eyes

I think he mentioned in the other thread that he only had access to 400-watt ish power

Customizable full-featured crypto trading platform in development. Asking for demo if interested.

400 watts of free electricity is not the same as only 400 watts of power.  Undecided

No, they auto-tune during each startup/reboot.  Been that way for many batches now.

This is simply not true! They run the autotune routine ONLY on first start or after a hard reset (possibly on other rare occasions), but definitely not after every restart be it clean or unclean.  There is a flag set in the filesystem that triggers the autotune routine. Maybe somebody could point out where it is exactly - cannot remember off the top of my head. Source: Operating S9-13.5TH/s miner.
