You should be lucky guys to get your mid Jan miners now, I assume you are in the US?
Mine we from december 20 onwards batch and I just got the notice that they are released from Customs and ready to be taken home (location = Europe)

was taxed  about 39 usd on 1 unit

Wow, really? I got 20% customs duties, so this means 300 USD for each Antminer S9 and 30 USD for each PSU.
Plus around 50 USD taxes from DHL to deliver them

Thats why sadly, brown is the best option at this time. It cost more in initial shipping, but import taxes are WAY lower.

I so miss the days of fedex dropping the package for $40 shipping and no customs fees or bullshit. Big brother on em guys. They watching this shit like a hawk!

If you didn't notice, to even receive a $1500 or higher customs package through UPS, you will/may be asked to give personal data to the customs official before they release the package. Also, once you do, they won't stop future packages again, but this means they now can track every one from that point on. Totally sucks. They know whos buying and keeping list, trust me.

Hey, do you mean that by choosing the more expensive option with UPS - you got lower fees and better service? It was actually a small hell on Earth dealing with DHL guys here. Also, don't you guys have 20% customs duties for everything shipped from outside the US?

No, that is not accurate. UPS/FedEx/DHL do not set the customs rate. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is responsible for the rates and the carrier simply forwards the bill to you. For years, Bitmain was able to successfully ship to the US with tariff (HS) code 8471.41.0150 (automatic data processing machines). Unfortunately, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection department has decided that cryptocurrency mining hardware does not meet the description and should actually be classified as tariff (HS) code 8543.70.9960 with a 2.6% tariff rate. We spent a lot of effort attempting to convince them that these were automatic data processing machines and therefor should be subject to a 0% tariff, but we were unsuccessful. The determining factor is that these devices cannot be used for general processing and any device that is designed to "only do 1 thing" does not meet the definition of automatic data processing machine. This was very frustrating for us and cost us $40k in retroactive fees for 2017.

tl;dr - going forward, you should expect a 2.6% tariff on any incoming AntMiner. You may get lucky if Customs doesn't correct what Bitmain puts on the form, but I wouldn't count on it. Also, this does not include the carrier charge for dealing with customs. This fee is normally less than $50 and is per order, not per package.

I used UPS last time, paid online around $49. This time I decided to chose DHL, looks like I'm in for an unpleasant surprise on March Sad

Both will not power on, I am using Bitmains AP3++ PSU'S, The PSU'S power on fans spinning etc but the S9 does nothing.

If I just connect to control board and not hash boards it still doesnt come on and same just connecting to hash boards and not control board.

I am in the UK using 220-240v so 1 PSU is fine..

For all you guys with doa hash boards there is a fix. It is the bitmain PSU's that are the problem. Swap out the bitmain PSU with another PSU that is not a bitmain one and your miner should fire up and run like it should.

Hold your horses cowboy, or sell them to me.. LOL The Cap in a apw3 is VERY large. Before you plug it in wait 10 seconds of dead time.. Then, New machines take around 20 to 30 mins to finally figure it out and get cranking. It didn't used to be this way, but I am seeing it more and more in the new units... Once you change network settings, and change pools, power that bitch off for at least 10 secs past the PSU fan running. Refire, and gold.

It actually was... the percentage of charge was dead on. Quote all the fluff ya want, I see it, and pay it. Please don't argue real time. Others are saying the same exact thing. Just because some shipping companys have not figured it out does not mean I am wrong.

Anyone else in US seen 47.91 from UPS since late last year? Smiley

One more thing, 1 APW3 PSU cannot power more than 1 S9. Im in US and run pure 240 as well, but you would still need 2 PSUs to fire 2 S9's.

I strongly disagree with this statement as I own over 25 Bitmain PSU's and they are spot on. Whether 240v or 120v, they simply work. Granted I love the Parallel Mining Delta for dual D3's and triple L3's. The APW is still one of the best, easiest, and most affordable for the T9/S9 series.

I'm not saying they don't work. I'm saying some s9's don't work with them and if anyone has any that have doa hashboards when you get them try using a non bitmain PSU. I have fixed 2 s9's this way and have read of others fixing them this way also. I have quite a few machines running the bitmain PSU's with no problem also.

This happened with me few times. turn off the PSU wait for few minutes and cycle back the power. it should work. connect all cables.

Never had a problem with a bitmain PSU

Hi Guys

Very new to mining and the other day I disconnected the power supply from one of my S9's and I noticed that one of the power pins on the hash board side is slightly singed and a brown color.
I blew it out with air and reconnected it and the machine appears to be hashing normally, only thing unusual about this particular machine is that both fans are always the same rpm.

Can you advise if this is a problem or dangerous or if it requires repair, I have attached a picture.

https://www.catship.co.za/img/Burnt%20Pin.JPG

TIA

It probably wasn't making a good connection.  Clean it real good and keep an eye on it.  If you smell burning or the plastic gets hot you may need to get a different PSU if the connector is bad.  As far as the Antminer goes you don't need all 6 pins connected for it to work.  I only run 4 (2 positive and 2 negative).

What's the temperature tolerance of the s9. Mine goes around 95-103 C, is it normal?

You are on the danger side. Below 80C is OK, around 100 and above is overheating.
How do you keep them? Do you have any exhaust system? Do you cool them? Also what is the hash rate with this temp?

yeah above 80 is not recommended (have few few running at 82 but had no problems at all. in case the fans are at full speed and it is above 80ish than this is very serious.
