Guys, is there someone who has successfully paid for Antminer S9's with USD? I see a lot of issues with statuses and some minor differences in the posts. I am planning to stockpile some cash in my USD account so I can quickly react if they open a new batch next week.

I'll keep you guys posted on what happens with my US wire. Timeline etc... I agree though that the best option would be to take the fiat and
buy BCH for a smoother transaction. Just have it ready. That was my path until I jumped the gun and actually captured one in my cart. Didn't have much of an option at that point. Felt I'd better buy it.

I paid for my L3+'s with a wire transfer.  After the transfer was complete you have to upload the confirmation from your bank to BitMain.  After I did that it changed to paid in about 3 days.

By confirmation i assume you mean what they call "transfer proof" - a pic of the actual wire page?
The only other thing I saw that was unique, (that I'm wondering about) was in the instructions from Bitmain it says, choose "pay all fees" when you wire payment?
I was warned by the Bofa bank person that Bitmain's bank may deduct a small fee from the total (after we sent the wire - mind you) and I do see complaining about the wires showing up short a couple of bucks. But BofA were adamant about not having an option for pay all fees. So I hope I don't get clipped that 2nd wire for 10$

That just happened to me, they recieved 5$ less i sent a second transfer had to waste 55$ thnk god i bought 6

i hope they dont cancel my order because the second transfer was a little late

Next time ill just send an extra 20$

Edit:  If you buy miners using your company, and you don't expense them right away, I would suggest the double declining method for amortizing your equipment costs if you're worried about difficulty increases and profits diminishing over time, which I also agree is pretty much a given at this point.

Hmmm, that's a hard one, you might be right
You certainly need an accelerated depreciation method simply because mining time lost today is worse than mining time lost tomorrow (because of the increasing total network hashrate & following difficulty).
Normally the double declining balance method assumes faster depreciation in the beginning of the asset's life and slower depreciation near the end to account for lower maintenance costs in the beginning of the asset's life vs. the end, but it could be seen to account for the above as well.

I think the only hope we have is that Moore's law continues to prove true for mining equipment.  If hashrates and difficulty is curvilinear, we know for sure that so is processing power according to Moore's law.  So, I will say this: it is no surprise that this far into the product life cycle of the S9 we are looking at these types of predictions.

Although the expectancy for sustainable levels of profitability is still debatable, what is not debatable is that we will sooner or later hit the point where the S9 generates less BTC (at that moment's BTC/USD rate) than it uses in electricity (at that moment's USD price per kWh).  I believe the point that is trying to made is that if difficulty rises and we hit a point where you spend $300 in electricity per month, but you only mine .025 BTC per month, you are paying the equivalent of $12,000 per BTC.  And if the USD/BTC exchange rate ends up being $11,000, then it doesn't make much sense to keep mining at that price because if you are counting on appreciating of value, you get more buying 1 BTC at the $11,000 rate than .025 at the $12,000 rate (your electricity costs vs the amount of BTC mined).

Hope that doesn't confuse anybody too much.  Let me put this in perspective: at the current difficulty I am currently scoring about .06 BTC per month with my S9 and paying $150 for the electricity to keep it running.  That means the S9 is allowing me to gain BTC at a $2,500 purchasing price.  This is a great deal if the USD/BTC rate stays at $11,000 (Profit ratios are at 440%).  If difficulty rises to where my S9 only generates .01 BTC per month for the same $150 in electricity costs, that same S9 is now allowing me to gain BTC at a $15,000 purchasing price.  This is a terrible deal if the USD/BTC rate stays at $11,000 but if the BTC/USD rate jumps to $25,000 its a great deal again (Profit rations are at 167%).

The only thing this doesn't take into consideration is the purchase price of the equipment and its salvage value at the end of its life, notwithstanding malfunctions or dead equipment.

Dont worry price will go up, lightning network is coming soon that will kill a bunch of altcoins and make bitcoin what it should be painless, fast way to transfer money not just a way to store wealth and speculate

In the case mining gets too hard before they release new miner a lot of hashing power is gonna turn off doubt somebody is gonna mine losing money

Just keep mining and storing that BTC until next december ull see...

Hi guys! I just got my first S9. Everything went just fine till morning when one of the 3 hashboards stopped hashing. I tried everything, unplugged, reset, psu cable variations, update the firmware, but nothing. In the status everything seems normal, only the GH/S(RT) shows 0, everything else is the same like at the other two. Any idea what should I do? I would not like sending it back to bitmain. Thanks!

Power off the unit, remove and reconnect the power, com cables, all of them, make sure they are well connected and why the heck would you connect your S9 to a pool that could potentially ruin it!

Did this work? Just found one of my new S9's only hashing on 1 board all of a sudden.

Which pool(s) do you know of that could potentially ruin a S9?  I don't see that topic discussed in the "which pool should I join" posts.

Extra $20 is not too much.

On the order Paying page stated that they received $50 short!
How am I suppose to pay now? Make another expansive bank wire
or they will send me BCH address???

It's getting worth and worth Angry

The only tip you need to remember is do not buy form an ebay seller you are about to be ripped off.

Yeah they are far too expensive on ebay, total rip off. Best bet is to try and get it directly from Bitmain if you're lucky enough!

We shouldn't demonize all private resellers of the miners (like for example on ebay). At the end, it is a matter of trust and integrity.

In my country however, it is almost impossible to buy from ebay.com as fees to Europe are a killer. Ebay.co.uk has no fees, but ridiculous prices, something like x4 or x5. Local reseller websites are full of scammers. So for me for example only the official vendor is the choice. Which reminds me that Bitmain hasn't released anything in more than a week (usually they drop something every week).

Don't worry. They ship every couple of weeks with new equipment. They always wait for the prices of bitcoin to drop before releasing.

Well I sent my US wire transfer last week, and yet today my order says "expired and unpaid" ...  Anyone else in the same boat?  I uploaded my proof of transfer last week as well.  I opened a ticket late last week and still no response from Bitmain. Sigh....

They are out of the office until the 26th....

On a side note, anyone getting their s9s in yet? If so from which batch are your purchases that are arriving now? I have 19 coming in in March and plan on renting a new space to accommodate growth. Don’t want to pay for February rent if I don’t have to worry about them coming early.

My last couple of wires went through and were confirmed within 1-2 days. However, they are on a company Holiday (per sales rep) until January 30th.

Last time I ordered I received my shipment a week early, but the power supplies came a few days late, rendering the miners useless for all of that extra time I had. That was disappointing, lol.

Darn... I wonder why mine are still unconfirmed then even with the proof uploaded.  I've never ordered through US wire before, only BCH which obviously gets confirmed almost instantly.  Of course they're on holidays too lol... They should not have released a batch right before and then just close shop for a week with many customers wondering what's going on.

They’re not on holiday, they’re offsite at some weeklong event. They are still working just thin staffed on premesis. From the sounds of it I may have to start my lease a couple weeks early just in case, since I sourced my power supplies, breakout boards, and cabling elsewhere.

we should indeed demonize all private resellers, they add nothing to the world, they are a damn plague that make something fair to something unfair

A private reseller is taking an unit from somebody that wants it.

Yup... says unpaid and expired.   Very angry at Bitmain for not responding or making my shipment as paid status.  We're not talking a few dollars here and to leave me hanging like this is frustrating!!!!!!!!
