Is Gulden a good investment?

I consider Gulden to be an excellent long term investment because their focus is on real user growth like ours (I am the founder of ArtByte).

Bitcoin grew slowly but steadily as the community of real users grew. Now days, speculators jump to the newest, promised technology, hoping to catch the next Bitcoin. But Bitcoin was not pumped thousands of percent in the first year, like today's speculative coins.

Gulden is one of the few legitimate coins building a real community and I congratulate them.

I didn't want to post this in the Gulden Announcement page to avoid bias opinions but wanted to know if Gulden is a safe bet compared to other alt coins. The reason I am asking is I noticed there ranking on coinmarketcap is way below other coins that have nothing going for them or is it that the other alt coins are way over priced?

I haven't got any Gulden - but I do have some views on it.

I would say that it is a long term investment contender.
It's not a run of the mill scrypt/sha256 bitcoin clone - uses DELTA POW.
The devs tool a 10% PREMINE. This would be enough for many on BTC to start writhing and cursing like the little girl on the Excorist - however they appear to be spending this premine wisely and diligently.

Bottom line is that they seem to have quite big traction in the NL - if anything will break mainstream it could be somewhere like the NL where it happens and this coin would be an obvious choice.

My advice would be if you like a gamble, buy on the troughs and hold long term - it's pretty stable price wise anyway.

then i'm out... if a want to gamble i'll do some dice so i can take my profit quickly.
and as an investment... 10% premine doesnt sound good.

While I'm not invested in this asset and have no intention to, I must say that a premine, ESP one as small as this, is much more preferable than all the ICO style cash grabbery that usually goes down here.

vlom is right, the Gulden team has their heads buried in the sand when it comes to approaching other services and marketing. When it grows they might get someone like Jared from digibyte to market the coin more.

Investment is subjective, Do you invest in a top 20 coin and still expect a 1000% increase or invest in a coin like Gulden that is very undervalued for what it offers? We are talking about a coin that is not even a $million in marketcap. There is more chance of of Gulden going to 10 million then ETH going to 10 billion.

Yes, top 20 alts are proven legit coins. Gulden is not so i don't think it is proven legit. I like high market cap coin.

I have compared Gulden to a lot of coins at the same marketcap. At the time I am writing this up both Gulden and Worldcoin are $864k.

Lets compare the 2.

Gulden far ahead with keeping updated.

Gulden wins in catering for both and the quality of the Android wallet is far superior. Usability for the Gulden wallets is increased due to bitcoin payments.

Worldcoin: BTC38, Poloniex, Jubi, BTER, Cryptopia, Bleutrade, Cryptomic, Bittylicious

Worldcoins wins here with the amount of available exchanges to purchase from.

I could not get the worldcoin roadmap to load, will reserve judgement.

QT wallets:

Gulden: Install was quick and the sync much faster then most alternatives I have tried. The wallet itself is unique looking and very basic, not as good as the mobile wallets.
Worldcoin: Frustratingly slow to complete the install process after the initial 16mb download, initial sync was really slow but nothing worse then other coins.
                 The wallet itself has a lot more effort put into it and a lot more options on screen compared to the Gulden wallet.

Worldcoin wins here because of the effort they put into the QT wallet, it's a complete revamp of the general bitcoin QT.
The Gulden wallet is simple and performs exceptionally well but lacking in features.

Rewards:

Gulden  100 reward until 1.68 billion total coins, 10% premine.
Worldcoin rewards reduce every month by 1% and will have a total of 265,420,800, the current supply is 106,871,346 and no premine.


Worldcoins wins for early adopters where Gulden will be able to attract new users with a fairer reward cycle. No premine for worldcoin makes it the overall winner.

Summary:

Should Gulden deliver on it's roadmap I can't see why this is not a good investment, I noticed this coin about 6 months ago and it's my favourite alternative to bitcoin. They still have work to do to become a legitimate contender for the top 20 spot and this can only occur with blockchain innovation.Their Prime project will be the key to unlock this?

Gulden won't be listed on Poloniex for political reasons from Poloniex side, lets say Gulden is run by a fresh team without connections in the crypto world.

This is a good thing for bittrex who deserve a potential flagship coin for their exchange, with the development coming out for Gulden this year Bittrex is bound to get a lot more volume for Gulden in the future.

Is Gulden available for trading in Poloniex? If you always scan the coin listed there you will notice that the low volume coins rise a lot with volume. NLG might get luck and become the "flavor of the day".

But as a long term investment, this is not a good coin for that. If you want long term you should stick to bitcoins.

Anyone who invested at the start is up over 7.5 times their initial purchase. Sure it's not going to get pumped like the coins on poloniex(short term fake value created mainly by bot programs) but it has real sustainable growth imo.

Gulden was 387sat when you posted this, it is stable at 1000sat today and holding strong. More people are coming around and putting money into a REAL project! The days of scam coins getting the limelight are soon over with the 1.6.0 release.

I am regretting selling 52k at 850 sats, thought that would be the top but more money keeps piling into Gulden and I think I will only get another 52k at a loss. I believe 1300 might be a good place to sell and it looks like it is headed there by tomorrow.

They are being secretive about the 10 features of this next update, they have only mentioned btc payments will be possible in the desktop wallets like they already have with both iOS and Android.
