The group buy is open until Inno says they are sold out of the Batch units.  As of right now it is still open.

If you order 3 or more miners you can have them shipped to a location of your choice.  For smaller orders we have an existing group buy order in place where we will be shipping to a member here on the forum and then shipping them to us from there.

So if you still want in on the group buy.  Just send an email to Inno with the subject of the Bitcoin Talk group buy and they will email you the bank account info for the wire transfer.  Shipping is currently scheduled for August, but can slip as late as September.

I am interested in ordering 1 unit, sign me up Smiley
I also would like to know which psu to order for it.

This is actually a valid question in this case.  Innosilicon has indicated they are not including a PSU with this miner in order to cut down the shipping cost.  So we do need to know what PSU they recommend for the A4.  I have sent that question to Innosilicon, but I have not heard back from them yet.

So the added cost of a PSU is not factored into the price we have been given for the A4.  Just a heads up.

Maybe it is better, that PSU is not included. Last time (A2 110Mhash miners) their PSUs were disaster. After short time half of them were dead. They put inside usually some black noname OEM 1000W PSUs, but was needed at least 1100W, better 1200W.
But not all 1200W PSU is possible to put inside, because some of these are longer than free place. I used OCZ 1250W. Important is 6 independent PCI-E cables (not splitted). It is possible also use CPU ATX4+4 to PCIE adapter cable. Also not all previous Innosilicon hashing boards had the same PCIE connector. Some version 6 pin, some 8pin, some 180degrees rotated...

At least some of the Mega A2 units came with an 1100 watt supply - STILL not enough though, and not real high quality reliable unit.

I replaced 2 of mine with the Seasonic X1250 - it's a hair longer than the OEM supplies were, but it's a good fit on both the cabling AND the hole for the fan.
The X1200 Platinum and the Titanium versions of that supply should work just too.

EVGA 1300 did NOT fit worth beans - cable interference was VERY bad and the fan hold had about 1.5 inches or so of NON-overlap, which would have been problematical for long-term operation when overclocking.

As of right now I'm tentatively planning on a 3-unit buy initially - depends on how Bitcoin price and Ethereum price goes over the next couple weeks or so....

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

Well I pinged Inno to see if there are any updates.  They have been feverishly busy working.  They have had a large number of visitors at their facility and have been signing contracts for equipment.

They however do not have any updates for us at this time on the A4.  They indicate they will get back to us soon on PSU's and some of the questions we have been asking.  I will keep you posted as I hear anything new.

Funny - who has been to their facility?  I don't get a response when I request a visit.

I don't know.  I am just passing along what they just told me via email.  Hopefully we will hear something more soon.  Huh

Have you looked at the raw email header?  Where is it coming from?  That can provide a lot of information.

I just looked at the header info and it appears to be coming from and going to zhangq@innosilicon.com.cn.

Hmm - raw header data would show IP addresses.

I was curious more to see if they had a dedicated IP address.  That gives a little more credibility.

But since they are using cell phones for office #'s -- then they are probably using a free email service.

I know that when they first announced the A4 I immediately sent them an email and I received a reply back that they weren't ready, and to check back with them later.  So about a month later I think it was I saw some updates from Inno here on the forum and an update on the web page so I emailed them again and again they said they weren't ready, but to check back.  Then they posted one more time and I emailed them about this group buy idea and then they were ready to talk about the A4 at that point.

So I do suspect if it was a scam they would have just tried to take our money as soon as they started making the announcements.  They really had no reason to push me off and not just take the orders and money.  But I do think your concerns are very much spot on given the nature of "all things crypto" and the past.

But I just did a nslookup and a whois:

related domain names

innosilicon.com hichina.com

So this looks like it is correct, but I will defer to others with more experience than I do tracking things like this down.

Do you want me to ask about getting you a visit at their facility and passing along your email address? I know I asked about it earlier and they said you can visit their facilities, but that was as far as it went.  You want me to pass along your contact info to make sure to look for your email?

The registrant from whois for the domain name translates as "Dynamic Technology Co., Ltd. Wuhan Xin" from Google translate and "Wuhan core technology limited" from Bing translator.

If I google the registrant name, I come up with a listing for ~20 open jobs at Innosilicon.

I also emailed Chloe asking for an electronic copy of the 45-day warranty so we know EXACTLY what's covered.

I saw a device advertised on Aliexpress that claimed to do 480 MH @ 1200watts . they where asking 4.2k for it I assumed it was a scam so I didn't buy.
These devices are getting close to that range.
Where are the pickup points are there any in Europe as well ? I'm assuming you guys are in the states also after the 1800 usd do I still have to pay import taxes ? (I'm in Holland)

when I enter "480 m ltc mining scrypt miner" in google I still see the link for the 480mh but it now links to this device and they are asking 3k for it.
Pictures and everything are exacly the same as the 480mh was.

Well heck. 2 of the A4's will do better than that (560 MHs) for $3.6k

I suspect that add on aliexpress was a PREORDER for the A4 - some of the EARLY info out of Innosilicon was estimating performance might be in that range.

If they had gone with the old A2 form factor, and put enough chips into such a large box running at one of the more efficient points the chip is capable of, they potentially still COULD get to 480MH/s at 1200 watts ballpark - but the price from Innosilicon would probably be closer to $5000/unit for such a unit due to the MUCH higher chipcount.

It's definitely a pre-order for the A4.  Amusing they're repurposing an old URL.

Seems like you also get a refund if it can't hash at the advertised rate, which is certain given the current definitions from Innosilicon.
This combined with the not having to return feature, means you could get a free miner.

Got a guy looking for ONE unit but in Europe. For me to ship an A4 to Europe if it came here first (bundled it goes to me I guess) it would be about 736 usd to do so
or at least the going rate for a 42 lb package to USA from Sweden (had the liquidation sale but their knc stuff was under volume yet or 150 per unit)

so if about the same weight I'm no help on this

anyway someone short 1 unit to make a 3 batch to someone you all agree on to have it shipped to in Europe let me know I'll send him your way

coming here first then to Europe should not only be dumb it would really really suck for a relay price UPS from me to Europe of around 700 bucks a box Sad

later

Can someone explain me this:

Power efficiency: Initial batch will be defaulted at 3.2W/Mhs in Turbo mode, 2.2W/Mhs in Norminal mode, and 1.35W/Mhs in ultra low power mode

So default is 280mhs and 896W, but whats goin on if i use ultra low power mode? 378W at 280MHS? It make no sense.

At the lower power settings it hashes at a lower rate.
