Do the coins give any sort of profit share, or are they just coins that are usable in the game?

Hello, I’m Pro4Never (Chris Cook). I’m the owner and lead programmer behind Apex Conquer. I’ve been involved in the game server community for over a decade with my primary focus having been on implementing the best possible content for my players and setting my projects apart through professional player support, consistent releases of new content, updates and bug fixes.

The Pro4Never tag has stuck with me throughout my programming projects, as a gamer tag and as a livestream I hosted for over a year. In the gaming community Apex Conquer one of my projects which has acquired a strong reputation built on reliability and my interest in making sure that the content we release is stuff never before seen in similar games. I also have a long history of moderating on the ElitePVPers website, one of the largest independent gaming forums with over 6 million members.

In the past I’ve released a number of open source game servers, done freelance programming work for other developers and done many years of tech support for various clients. The past year and a half I’ve spent developing and maintaining Apex Conquer. I’ve been able to turn the project into my full time job as well as growing the scope of the project to include 3 different server projects. Later this summer we plan to launch our biggest server yet which is where this Jewels project will be best utilized.
Huh

Do the coins give any sort of profit share, or are they just coins that are usable in the game?

I wouldn't call it a profit share as it does not work off a percentage or any way similar to a profit share stock. Jewels will be usable in game on Apex and Heroes and on various other mini gambling games which will be plugged into games as well as offered as standalone in the browser.

However in one section we do state,
Quote
Paypal will be used as a proxy for purchasing Jewels off the market. As the reserve of Jewels for paypal purchases depletes funds received via Paypal will be used to purchase bitcoin used to purchase Jewels from the exchanges thereby adding liquidity to the market.

As the Jewels platform grows we intend to increase our use cases by form partnerships with other games and organizations to use Jewels as a means to an online currency that can be used both in and out of games.

Lol, you guys seriously need to read before you post because it makes you look rather silly, his "real identity" is on the OP as well as videos of him and a very long history with a massive gaming forum, oh and his game to mention a few.

To add to that if you read then you would know he is new to crypto and thus there will be no "real long standing account" but saying that the account looks "real enough to me" where does bitcointalk get you people from, on a forum to read but you don't read.

You don't pay enough.

It is sad to see how people read whatever they want to and not actually what is in front of them.

I have checked the OP out, I feel very safe in the knowledge that I am onto a winner with this investment.

If others have not done their due diligence, I suggest you learn how to in future and give this a miss for those that realize how awesome it can be with the already very large fan base and active player base.

Jewels as the in game currency of two games will create a lot of demand and do its part helping bridge the gap between crypto.

I dont like profit sharing coins for a few reasons but the biggest reason is because you cant get on the big exchanges with a profit sharing protocol.

Nice project. Few questions though.

How much demand is expected for jwl from the current apex users who may purchase via PayPal. (I understand this may be low)
How much is that number expected to grow once Hereos is released.( I expect it to grow significantly but how much)  Huh
How much more can that number grow once project rebirth is released.
I know I'm asking for a lot of speculation but without some numbers to work with its hard for me to decided if I want to invest in jewels or not.

Apex and Triumph will be converted to using a full jewels cash shop. They can purchase jewels from us through paypal (draining the paypal reserve fund and meaning we have to go to an exchange to re-buy coins to fill it up with) or they can purchase directly from an exchange. Obviously the paypal prices will be inflated and will have limitations in regards to coin maturity to avoid us running into charge backs (full description in OP on how that all works).

Heroes will launch from day 1 with a fully embedded jewels cash shop with the same basic setup but more uses for the coins. Apex/Triumph limits our cash shop to involving a few character customization options (weapon and armor skins) and premium VIP status (3 day and 30 day vip tokens). With heroes we have a lot more content which can be monitize, including but not limited to the following.

-Armor skins
-Weapon skins
-Mount skins
-Premium VIP status
-Random loot crates
-Jewels tokens (peer2peer trading of the coins)
-In game titles

So, a conservative estimate for jewels in apex/triumph would be around 5k usd/month in purchased coins (which could be from us through paypal, or through any exchange they wish to use). With heroes the use cases will be much larger and I would say a conservative estimate of 10-15k usd/month within the first 2 months of launch with the potential to grow significantly in the 4-6 months following.

The main use of the money raised from the ICO will be not only to create the secure backend for processing jewels (the cash shop, the wallet functionality and more) but more importantly, to create new provably fair gambling mini games. This is where the possibility of the coin explodes because those mini games are not bound to our project. These games will be embedded into our client using a html5 compatible webview but also available as a completely separate website and mobile app.

This means our coin will be used for all in-game purchases on apex/triumph/heroes but also in these mini games which will be available inside our game, on their own website (altcoin gambling enthusiasts can play it without ever knowing about our server if they wish) and also opens up the possibility of introducing other private servers and online games to integrate the same mini games. I know of at least 2 other servers who would be interested in doing so and I'm sure once we have it fully released and proven we will get a lot of attention from other projects.

TL DR cause I ranted too long: Consistent demand from the game itself but real long term growth would be implementing gambling the coin in our servers, in dedicated mobile apps and in other games and servers.

We cant tell you because we dont know. It depends on how much has been invested. Once the ICO is complete we'll be able to get a cost per coin.

Thanks for the thought out answer. With the information you just gave me it will be much easier to make my decision. Do you know what kind of premium will be charged on the jewels bought through PayPal?

The short answer is we don't know an exact premium to be used for 'one click jewels' through the game's website. From a player experience we can't adjust the price of jewels hourly or we will end up with very upset players wanting refunds or changes (EG: "I bought 1000 jewels for 10 dollars and now if I spent 10 I'd get 1100!! give me 100 free"). By adding a healthy premium for the one click purchase option it will allow us to leave a mostly static price (adjusted say, monthly) and to cover the risk of chargebacks.

Players will of course be able to use exchanges to load cheaper jewels into their account and we will need to be buying coins from exchanges ourselves to refill the coins used by the paypal accounts.

The separate sites/gambling integrations will tie directly into exchanges as users of such services would be more familiar with cryptocurrency and would be more tolerant of fluctuating prices.

I want to invest in this project, I really do. But it's clear this is more geared towards people buying this coin to actually use it, rather than just buy and sell. No escrow, no reputable members, no plans on listing it in an exchange. I buy virtually every video game crypto out there and I'd love to buy this one too, but I just can't at this point in time.

The coin will have use cases that address people who have no interest in playing MMOs such as our gambling based platform that will be available as a standalone in the web browser in the near future. I don't quite understand what you mean by no plans on listing it on an exchange since we mention in almost every section that people will be able to buy Jewels off of exchanges. We'll be contacting exchanges nearing the end of the sale.

Based on no escrow I assume you are for using an escrow. Our reputation is on the line as we've been around for over a year and Pro4never is a well known individual in other communities as well as being very open about his real life identity for this project. Can you explain what you feel would be the benefits of using an escrow because from my research I can cite examples of where using an escrow serves absolutely no purpose other than giving people a false sense of security.

Thanks for your feed back and looking forward to your reply!

looking forward to trade your coin and hoping that trading makes something worthwhile aside from PROFIT.

I don't see exchange mentioned anywhere in the roadmap. I do hope it is your intentions to list them on exchanges. Do you have any in mind? Have you contacted any? Most exchanges won't list just any coin that is proposed to them. You can probably get it listed on Yobit but that market is primarily for trading shitcoins.

Perhaps the escrow is a false sense of security, but more people are going to be more comfortable with sending money to a reputable member of this forum over some streamer without much activity within the community. More money invested = more profits for investors.

Use cases are definitely a positive, and the major reason why I like to invest in videogame cryptos. They don't set out to change the world but they actually server a purpose, regardless of how niche it is.

The road map was intended to mainly highlight benchmarks in terms of (programming based) development. I'll look to have the road map broadened with other intentions other than those just specifically related to programming. Thanks Smiley.

As for which exchanges we'll be listed on, we will probably get a listing on Yobit due to its ease however it is also in our intentions to get a listing on Bittrex as from our research they are a more trusted and well established exchange. We intend to be entirely transparent with them and don't mind the 3 BTC fee. We see no problem with their CFC compliance standards which requests having a proof of developer done and disclosing the full name and location of a member of the coin development team. After a listing on Bittrex, we will eventually seek a listing on Poloniex as we become more established. As Jewels is an integral aspect of our project we want people to have accessibility to Jewels in as many places and ways as possible.

Given our transparency as it stands we are still open to feedback about using an escrow as we have stated if enough people feel strongly about this we will seek to get one however as no sufficient reasoning has been provided we currently see no reason to do so. We feel research is an important tool investors should using, simply having an escrow and seeing "Hero Member" or "Legendary Member" should not be reason enough people wildly throw their bitcoin at the project. We highly recommend investors take the time to research Pro4Never and take a look at some of the open-source projects he's been involved in in the past and other projects he's worked in prior to Jewels.

I just saw that Jewels got talked about in the blockchain dynamics radio show.
I dont think they understand the coin or project though.
Here, have a listen.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1379730.msg15620724#msg15620724

I've had a chance to listen to Blockchain Dynamics and we'd like to offer an answer as why we shouldn't be written off as just another gaming coin.

Open Source Based Games
Some gaming coins are intended to be driven by open-source based games. An example of this may be running a custom Counter Strike: Global Operative ("CS:GO") server that rewards a player in a cryptocurrency. The problem with this model is that typically the space shared here overlaps with other servers and communities that are typically far more well established. This prevents the coin from truely being adopted by the immediate audience of these games unless they offer something new or innovative other than just rewarding players for playing these games.

Faucet Based Gaming
Other coins may offer a faucet based service. Unlike the open source approach this means you can play on a regular game server and be rewarded for your playing. Typically, what this means (using CS:GO as an example again) is that a player can play a competitive mode on the "official" game and receive reward for attaching their account to the coins system. The inherent problem with this is it is not profitable for gamers and the only useful aspect of this model is "free" advertisement. Typically, a player will receive a neglible amount of financial compensation for their hours spent on the game (far less than working a minimum wage job in the United States).

While some indiivduals in Bitcointalk may feel it's "super cool and awesome" to be paid a cryptocurrency for simply playing their favorite game, this model cannot be only driving factor for adoption of a coin because gamers (typically ranging from teens to young adults) will see it for what it is - an insignificant amount of money and ignore it.

Raise funds, develop the game after
This is an understandable approach. Game development isn't cheap, so it's only natural that you need a large fund to hire people for certain jobs; After all that is why we're raising money (primarily for Project Rebirth). The unfortunate side to this is that game development while also being expensive is slow. Essentially, that means depending on the complexity of the game investors are stuck with a fairly stagnant investment until the game they invested into comes to fruition as until this point is reached there is a lack of identifiable use-cases for the coin. Stagnation can easily be anywhere around an entire year before the game even is in some form of open-beta where investors can actually try it out let alone actually start receiving a return of interest or utilize their coin investment.

Us
Given the points above, we are most closest to the last point. The difference is, we are not launching empty handed. There will be identifable use cases for Jewels immediately following the conclusion of our sale. The inherent struggle any game will face is developing an active player base, fortunately we've also already tackled this problem with our existing infrastructure.

We want to stress Jewels is not only for Apex and Heroes! We will be releasing mini-games that are gambling related as well as other small games that can stand alone independantly and be played through your browser or mobile (Android / iOS) devices.

We'll be contacting them directly and seeing if we can be on their show as we'd love to talk to them more about our project.
