Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Hi, my name is butterstick, and I'm a panda at the National Zoo in Washington DC.

Actually, I'm a software engineer (Java, iOS, C/C++, PHP) of 15 years experience, currently working as Senior Manager Java Engineering at ESPN. I've got a background in access control and cryptography, so I've been following crypto currencies for a while. Was going to wait to start mining till ASICs hit the market, but that is so slow I'm going the traditional mining route instead. Currently mining on slush's pool, and working on a couple of mining rigs.

I'm interested in bitcoin both technically and politically. The idea of signed ledgers have been around for a while, but this distribution techniques of the bitcoin network are what make it very interesting to me. My wife and I also took all our money out of the TBTF banks over the last 3 years, and bank exclusively at our local credit union. Bitcoin is a very appealing option to us for the usual reasons... but mostly because I'm tired of PayPal taking a chunk when I get paid for the freelance software dev I do at night.

Speaking of which, I'd love to contribute to any projects or services in the bitcoin community that think they could use a strong developer.

I have a little CS background and finally decided to read about cryptocurrencies, unfortunately since I don't even own a GPU it seems i'm a few years too late... Mining NVC at 10Khash/s on a notebook cpu is definitely never getting me anywhere. At least im having fun playing around.
