Save the money...  Buy an extra GPU and get in the game.  It's gang-busters right now.

Nope

6 rx 480 give me 170 Sol/s (1650$)

What if 8 core can give 120-160 (1000$)?

To be honest I doubt that it can - so this why I need an info Smiley

2 more days and 6x480 will give you 5-600 Sol/s.. Claymore's gpu zec miner is coming out Smiley

Genoil crashes are really linked to the pool.
I don't know why, but with Nano there is less crashes.
But few hours ago, ALL my ZEC mining Rigs (working on genoil6 and nanopool) crashed in the same time (the error message , genoil stopped working etc).
I lot many hours of mining. But I learnt crash can happen from pool/network , not always hardware. And even with the new genoil features, a restart script is still a good idea.

I dusted off my paid copy of ethOS and upgraded it to latest version thats supports Claymore and Zcash.

Installed it on a USB 3 thumbdrive, got it working with Nanos and 390s, and RX480s.

Then I just raw copy each master to make copies ....

I now have 10 x ethOS running their Zcash miner from a freaking thumbdrive.

ethOS is built on Linux 14.04 but its so simplified and customised to mining.... its too easy.

And ethOS has dashboard for monitoring and its available on the web.

The ethOS zcash miner pushed my 6x480 to about 250-270h/s .... amazing!

Now... I dont stress out waiting for Claymore's miner.

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

Phil,

One of my business partners - offered 10 units of the following - its refurbished though - I wonder if this is a killer opportunity to get it to mine ZEC and pay itself quickly. Is this same specs as the M800?

1. Refurbished Lenovo M92 USFF / Intel core i5 / 4gb ram / 500gb hdd / windows 7 / 1 month warranty

That's pretty cool mate! So you don't really need to buy one ethOS Digital Download for each rig?

How much a 6x 470 rig is getting?

zcashgpuclient with *.bat loops is stable for my rigs.

for me zcashgpuclient is more stable than genoil.

i'm curious too about 470 performance in zcash mining..i'm considering 470's in my next purchase if that gpu is very good at zcash (price-performance wise).

I know you are good in manuals writing Smiley

Can you make a detailed instruction how to do it with ethOS? I have a rig on WIn10 now.

Thank you!

This is the web dashboard - automatically created => http://fbb4f2.ethosdistro.com

I only bought 1 x copy which was I forget now..... 30 bucks? a bit more with an SSD.

I was suppose to pay for more license if I plan to use it for a rig farm .... I think I will purchase a couple more license - its the right thing to do :-) The sw is pretty good and I get good support from IRC and email.

Very stable, mining the whole day! And I dont have to worry about Windoze, virus, etc. etc.

Best of all, I learn a bit more about Linux.... I am totally newbie on Linux.

The latest ethOS version supports sgminer-gm, claymore and also zcash miner (I think this is their own miner).

6 x 470 ? I dont know man.... but half of my farm is now running on thumbdrives about 1.5khs, and I see 0.01 ZEC trickling into my Polo account every half an hour!

What I get in a week from ETH, I see in a "few days" mining ZEC and flypool.

I give up on Genoils and others, wasted time, should have been put to mining ZEC.

I am looking forward to Claymore's miners though.... he promised 100sol/s per 390 card!

I have 3 rigs with 480 x 6 there.... I think its throttled back to 248-250h/s but still its very good this mining speed.

Its real easy.... just edit the config file and reboot!

Thanks citronick, I think I'll give ethos a try!
"NOTE: ethOS should only be written to a 16gb+ SSD (not an HDD or USB drive)." is that so?? Why?

give genoil-zec miner time . I'm glad he released it at least, there is still no stand alone windows version beyond his and if it wasn't for him us windows user would either have to use Linux or go to whatever pool has working miner and some of those still don't work right .

the ethOS people told me its ok on thumdrive but must be USB 3 - for acceptable boot up speed, otherwise need to be on SSD. In fact, they were the ones who told me its ok to clone the thumdrive :-)

I had to shut down almost all my gear overnight .

House got very hot and we had some wicked t-storms.  Multiple mini blackouts. So I turned off all the gear but one small piece.

Good news is zec rallied in price just a bit and eth rallied in price a bit.  plus btc is still above 700.

I would love for this to last for a week or so.

My in house rigs all allow for cpu + gpu mining except for 1 rig.  So that rig is cpu for zec and gpu for eth.

Today is a good day to be a miner.  So lets see if that can be said for 1 week straight.

I have earned around .03 zec so far.

Converted all my RX480s to mine ZEC.

And retained the Nanos and 390s to continue mining ETH.

So far collected 0.33 ZEC after 24 hours with flypool using Genoil miner.

Do we know yet, what is 1 ZEC = BTC?

The Genoil GPU miner is not very stable - hangs or slows down after an hour or two, need manual restarts

The NH CPU miner on the other hand is very stable but hashes smaller sols/sec vs GPU.

I think Claymore ZEC GPU miner will steal the show soon ...

Hi Citronik... I have not yet run NH miner but wanting to test CPU only mining of ZEC on my 2 PCs (2600k & 6800K).  Is it possible to run CPU mining ONLY with NH?  Or, does it only do both CPU & GPU?

Yes, the NH windows miner mines both CPU and GPU at the same time.... even better it supports NVIDIA cards.

Yes, you can setup the NH windows miner to use only CPU and exclude GPU when mining.

I setup my kids (13 and 17 yrs old) gaming PC to mine (GPU and CPU) when idle using this NH windows miner, the past week it has been mining hard on Equihash / Zcash and gets about 10-12$ per day (not even 24x7). Their gaming PCs are i5 CPU and GPUs, 970 and 980Ti. The BTCs goes directly into their Jaxx wallets, and they don't bug me for money to buy game credits anymore :-)

That's an interesting question... What do you actually buy with your crypto currency? I've only ever bought more mining equipment via Newegg, or I'm saving it.
