I don't think so, bitcoin has competition and bitcoin needs competition,
the competition of bitcoin are altcoins as instrument of investments
it will makes bitcoin be alive and there are choice for making investments into digital coins,
it is like gold the competition is silver or other.
In any aspect of business, competition are always a part it, right? I guess most of the business minded person knows that things. although bitcoin was design for me not to compete by any of the business in this world. but majority of the business was bitcoin is competing them. So the result  the community of bitcoin are embracing the concepts and features of it, so the in the end the demand is getting higher. And most of it are altcoins is really the one who is competing with bitcoin.
I believe that after the huge success that bitcoin had and the number of investment and how it took the entire internet community by storm, people thought that it will be a good way to make money from making a similar idea and that where the altcoins started, and of course each one of them are just not successful as the bitcoin was because they don’t have that big user base except for a couple of them that claim to bring new things to the table.

I think that those are the real competition here because when bitcoin gets a big hit they are going to take the opportunity to rise.

I always thoght bitcoin had no competition, but the scaling problem made me doubt that attitude a bit.
I thought that bitpay might include an altcoin into their payment system, and that would be bad for bitcoin.
But recently I read an article where bitpay announced that they studied bitcoin blockchain alternatives and that none of them were compelling.
The bitpay company would not migrate from Bitcoin.
So if they see no alternative, I don't either.

During this time altcoins like ethereum, zcash, factom, and ripple always trying to develop system to attract many takers among bitcoin. When Bitcoin prices down they seize the moment to rise, and vice versa. At first glance this is a good view of harmonization, but on the other hand, they are competitors ready to pounce at any moment with unlimited coins concept, especially recently emerging issues concerning hardfork, waiting right moment is the best strategy.

According to the communities different views that the main competitors of bitcoin was the altcoins, the currency who make a copy cat of bitcoin. But we all know that bitcoin was an open source to any business aspects actually,  Wink

At the present time, this is completely wrong, because, bitcoin is weakening in the branching process. There are a lot of strong altcoins, which are popular, ETH is a typical example, bitcoin is competitive and is out of date compared to what was before. I feel this is quite bad, and the main reason is the greed of the miners, they are destroying the bitcoin, but they think that is the way to make them rich, stupid.

Yes there are some altcoins are giving good competition to Bitcoins. And those coins are growing very fast in the market. At present situation, the Bitcoin have more value, and people think there is no competition, but in future, it may go wrong.

And which is the best coin out there?

I don't think you could say that Bitcoin is weakening with its price being over 1,000 dollars per coin right now

Barring November (or December, I don't remember which month exactly) of 2013, Bitcoin has been at prices higher than 1,000 dollars only for a few months, and all of them (except for just one month, or rather a week or two in 2013) are months of this year. I don't think it is very honest to demand from Bitcoin to be constantly growing so that we could consider it as the best kid on the block. If you disagree (or someone else comes to disagree, for that matter), show me another coin that has been rising for over a year and a half

Bitcoin has a lot of competition and without competition it wouldn't stay on top of course. Bitcoin would still be the mother of all coins, though there are a lot of assumptions that a certain Altcoin will replace Bitcoin but those are just speculations. Not one Altcoin yet has come close to what the value of the Bitcoin has today, but we won't know for certain. A lot will happen a few years from now but I do hope Bitcoin would still remain on top.

Bitcoin is only digital currency right now and I don't see any competition to it at a moment but things may change in future when it may get replaced some new and innovative currency and till it happens enjoy the ride with bitcoins as it will never disappear.
It has competition from many government and security agencies i just hope bitcoin get's equally distributed around the world so that the bitcoin controller china can stop manipulating the price of bitcoin.
It is natural to think that those countries where there is a greater amount of wealth will tend to get more bitcoin than poorer countries so it is natural that china hold a good amount of the coins but the amount they hold is going to change as more people in other countries adopt bitcoin.

At a moment I don't see any competition to bitcoins as it is ruling the digital world and altcoins cannot be compared to bitcoins as they cannot be used for shopping or converted to fiat and in that case bitcoin holds upper hand over the altcoins.

Certainly, bitcoin is the only coin in a crypto currency which can be concerted into fiat vice versa. However, it's not impossible that a crpto currency coin can have ots exchanger since the market of crypto currency is spreading annd developing.

Bitcoin :open immutable decentralized global fair

Bitcoin has no competition in what race?

speed?
scalability?
remittance?
acceptance?
utility?
brand recognition?
most nodes?
carbon footprint?
anonymity?

There are many races, and rarely one contender is best at all.

OP needs to define question please

Blockchains solve many problems, and you are correct, bitcoin is solving some better than most.

Banano, Bitcoin has dominated not quite a race, but more like Bitcoin dominated the World Olympics so heavily handed that it opened up a new Coliseum to welcome and invite all competition to come and TRY.

There is no altcoin that has worked even nearly as well GLOBALLY as the store of value that Bitcoin is.

Bitcoin is nearly an unbreakable store of value solidified by the beautiful COMBINATION of being decentralized with limited small blocksize, immutable, cryptographically secured, scarce as it is limited in supply (21mil ceiling) and established over many many years. Its not one of these features, its not a combination of two or three of these features, but ALL of these features that make it the most secure store of value that can be transmitted globally through a communications channel. Any altcoin can beat at one of these features, i agree with you there.

Further points to ponder with more-in depth reading re:Bitcoin here:

Bitcoin is king at a moment but in future we may see some new currency that holds better benefits and features then bitcoins and if that happens then people will diversify their investments towards without bothering about bitcoins.

I certainly agree that Bitcoin is above all competition presently

Obviously, in the field of competition where it actually matters, i.e. in popularity (or adoption across the world, if you please). Though I cannot possibly agree that Bitcoin is anywhere near being an "unbreakable store of value". It is absolutely not a store of value in the first place, not even close to that, let alone "unbreakable". Gold is an unbreakable store of value by any metric, while Bitcoin is likely one the best vehicles for speculation and profiteering. As you can easily guess, being a speculative asset (and a highly speculative one at that) doesn't go well with being a store of value, mildly speaking

There are hundreds of cryptocurrencies out there, and it would be naïve to think that none of them has any good improvements.

I think the problem is that most of them have many points of centralization, and certain improvements could be implemented in Bitcoin if there was a consensus.

Since the question is ask in the general sense I think the OP means that all the factors need to be added together and took into consideration in that way but you are right if we begin to see each factor separately there are things that other coins do way better.
