Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I've made five posts, this'll be my sixth, and I've been registered for well over 4 hours. Still a newbie.

Could the old restrictions be extended to members registered before today? I have a post I want to reply to and I can no longer do so Sad

I understand the reasons for this but it's still irritating when you've got something you really want to post somewhere else. This will generate 5 spam posts in the newbie section per new member instead..

Lets just pretend its just a worm up for mining Smiley. Waiting hours to generate 1 BTC (depending on machines) so consider it as a 900 M# minig rig and the time is reduced from 24hr to only 4hr. Its good its only 4 hours thou.

best luck for all of us Newbies.

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts.

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also, you must have made 1 post to send PMs.

Given the nature of the forum, they should just charge 0.05 BTC to register and be done with it.

These n00b restrictions are insane. I was trying to make a proposal about improving wallet security, but it just gets buried under threads about mining.  Angry

The thread is here: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=17919.0

What if the Newbie forum fills with spam? What are us newbies to do then?

I think it's almost gaurenteed that the forums will get some spam - even if it's just so we newbies can get enough posts so that we can post on the main boards Smiley
