I don't know if it is just me or not but the hype with anonymity surrounding ZEC has diminished somewhat

Is there any real development of the coin going on or is all just hearsay ?

Dash, zec, eth and cash always will probably cost the same, you have to sell from them what is more expensive and buy something that is cheaper

Wikileaks is now accepting Zcash donations. Non-profit media group Wikileaks has announced that it is now accepting donations in the privacy-oriented cryptocurrency ZCash.
The information sharing site revealed that it would take the new payment option in a tweet earlier today. The news makes zcash the third cryptocurrency Wikileaks will accept for donations, joining bitcoin and litecoin.

The information sharing site revealed that it would take the new payment option in a tweet earlier today, making zcash the third cryptocurrency it will accept for donations following bitcoin and litecoin.

Zcash was notably included as one of the options in a poll the nonprofit held on Twitter at the start of the month. Of the options presented – monero, zcash and ethereum (misspelled as "etherium" ) – zcash garnered 11 percent of the 12,204 votes submitted, compared to 21 percent for monero and 45 percent for ethereum. Twenty-three percent opted for "other."

Waited for a while with responding. Prices are steep, but boy oh boy did I get my money back. I sold around 2.5 ZEC at a 0.16 btc per ZEC. That's 0.4 BTC which I still have. Bitcoin at 4200 dollars each, that would be.. 1680 dollars. I bought ZEC for 700 dollars. And I still have a couple months of mining left.

So yeah..

I don't get why Zcash team didn't even attempt to protect their investors from copycats. Zooko seems to be a top-tier cryptographer if he could do things like https://twitter.com/zooko/status/863202798883577856, yet no even "Insert CD with the license key" level protection in the coin. How much of the 20% premine is still in the hands of the devs?
