I've heard that multisig transactions are impossible using the zero knowledge proofs of either zcash or zcoin, and this will significantly affect the privacy of both (if everyone uses the "clearnet" token, then who cares if there is an anonymous sub-token), since, monero for instance will soon allow ringsig multisig after ringct is implemented. Is this true? Multisig impossible with zcash or zcoin anon tokens?

Zcoin vs. Monero?
Zcoin vs. ZCash?

Why this can be better than those coins?

This answers a lot of questions:

https://zcoin.tech/faq.html

also the wiki is a great resource:

https://github.com/zcoinofficial/zcoin/wiki

No need to users search and read all the FAQs/Wiki since the answers can be simple.

Simple as:

Zcoin is better. lol

Simple as my true question?
Why Zcoin is better than Monero/ZCash?

A question that often pops up is: what are the differences between Zcoin and Zcash?

Zcoin and ZCash are the only two cryptocurrencies that use zero-knowledge proofs to guarantee zero-knowledge financial anonymity.
There are various tradeoffs between using ZCoin and ZCash. Zcoin uses the Zerocoin Protocol (cited by academics 208 times, at time of writing),
whereas Zcash uses the Zerocash Protocol (cited by academics 104 times, at time of writing).
The cryptographic properties of Zcoin and Zcash supplement each other quite nicely, and a good way to describe them would be sibling cryptocurrencies. read more...

Thanks. But why Zcoin is better?

We don't need junk coins created with exactly same purposes, we need innovations/better coins.

Now another 6k hashes added to the network? GPU or a farm?

If you guys have some free time you can easily port a GPU miner for this coin. Search for CPUMINER with OpenCL and modify the kernel to mine this Lyra2 algo with the current parameters.

Just look at the other algorithm C source codes and opencl kernels and make the necessary changes, you can use debug the program to make sure you are on the right path.

However at this moment it seems like a waste of time because nobody knows what speeds GPUs will hash at because of the matrix issue, and nobody knows when the algorithm will be changed. Maybe if it got listed on Poloniex or Bittrex and had large buy support.

As seen in the explorer, the reward for each block is split among six addresses. The miner gets 40XZC plus transactions fees. The other five addresses are always the same, each getting 2XZC.

https://zcoin.rocks/block/010966294a93dd94ef35d9c92481e025a6ca0037756a652cfcfa67de6ad988e1

As it turns out that is the "Founders' Reward": https://zcoin.tech/faq.html#distribution

That and the way this blockchain was launched; it is quite certain that the founders currently hold most of the coins in existence.

On the positive side, the supply is still limited in this early stage, and now lots more people are mining.

So far this seems more like bad planning than any bad intent. And if they are who they say they are on the website, then the developers have identified themselves as people having some potential.

On one hand I wouldn't put any money into this right now. On the other hand I'd mine the hell out of it and not sell at this time.

Zcoin is a strange one that has my curiosity.....

I also started mining slowly this, although I am very curious where will the price go...
For now there are so few buyers and sellers the market is pure manipulation.

BTW, I liked this from the OP "Use at your own risk!" near the exchanges Cheesy

Mining means you at least pay for electricity, so you put some money into it anyway Wink
Right now the price and the future are so unpredictable, any option you chose is pretty good.

This won't work, because the input for the algo is 80 bytes, not 64 bytes as in all the current available gpu miner implementations.

Current implementations use lyra2 as a chained algo, input is 64 bytes because it's in the middle of the chain. ZCoin uses pure lyra2, so it's the only algo or the first in the chain and it needs to hash 80 bytes.

Yes I am just noticing this, the height is the extra part. Wouldn't the fastest and easiest way to do this is just to re-use the current Lyra2rev2 algo and just null the blake256,keccak,skein,cubehash, bmw256 hashes and transfer the target argument from the last hash to the lyra2 part?

This way you don't have to rewrite everything from scratch.

Still won't work.. you need a GPU function for Lyra2 that hases 80 bytes, not 64 bytes Smiley

Example:

Hashin:

80bytes80bytes80bytes80bytes

Using a correct, 80 bytes hash results in:

adasebadasebadasebadasebada

Using a wrong 64 bytes hash results in:
adasebadase

The result is incomplete.
