not sure how much interest this will get but here goes.

have been playing with the original cpuminer since zcoin's release; and seem to have found a slight edge last night.
performance gains are in the realm of about 25-50%, earning about 0.5 XZC from one quad cpu VPS overnight (9-10hr).
please note that the reported hash below is wildly incorrect, it should be around 20H/s or slightly higher from a standard 10H/s.

as some of you know, i'd been toying with a GPU miner since launch as well; with some partial luck; probably more to ocminer's annoyance with the invalid shares he keeps seeing on his pool from me  Grin
going to give it another go night and will report how i go.

Yes I've seen that as I've checked for fake shares when I noticed your 'experiments'.

Well..  Yesterday someone on slack told me that a gpu miner would be technically impossible  Grin

i never fake it for you ocminer. haha

i havent ruled out that possibility yet, however i am getting tired of sgminer segfaulting with my kernels Roll Eyes
could well be right, last time i gave it a shot i considered some form of bankswapping, however time-expensive

Hi all!

We are pleased to announce that Aizensou has joined the Zcoin team as a developer <3

Aizensou is a full-stack developer who has experience in many programming languages (C++, C#, Python, Perl, Java etc.) and has been involved in the cryptocurrency space since 2013. He has a broad development portfolio from low level APIs in Python and C++ to Android native application in Java. In addition to his involvement in cryptocurrencies, Aizensou was doing his P.h.D. in machine learning at a German university from 2012 to 2016.
This will not be the good news of these guys guessing, lol

Show it or it doesn't happen. Simple.

Okay 25-50% increase on performance is possible since I had a small tweak in the memory controller and got a 20-30% boost as well.
wolf0 has a similar tweak and he already showed the proof so I believe that your statement about the performance increase is possible. You might overestimate it a little bit since the algo is a bit crazy so the miner gave the wrong hashrate sometimes too.
Enjoy it for a while (well I honestly think all the big miners already have it as well), since we will switch the algo soon.

Also concerned about this.  How is this coin ever going to scale with these type of sync times?  Obviously lite wallets are possible, but still... this would be a pretty heavy burden on full nodes if/when usage is many orders of magnitude higher.  Is there evidence that this can be made (much) more efficient?

Apparently, this problem was much worse before. So I guess progress has been made already?

Hi! Mine is synched now after many wallet restarts. It does work great it just synchs really slow cos it has to check all the thingies for double-spends or something. If it gets stuck just restart the wallet, and it seems to be faster if your machine is not doing anything else at all. So when you're asleep would be the perfect time I found.

We have identified a bug that may prevent syncing in some cases where the node is not connectable. Our devs are working on it!

Does anyone have a miner that will work for an ARM CPU, preferably with NEON instructions?

A short update on Zcoin’s development progress:

  • Poramin has managed to obtained additional programming help to work on MTP and solved a major hurdle so we are still on track.
  • To cater for people with large balances, we will be implementing 1000 xzc denomination mints instead of the current max of 100 xzc.
  • Work on our user interface is being done to allow minting of various denominations instead of through command line
  • We are aware of a sync issue that is happening when there is a node that is offline/has issues. Aizensou is already working on it.
  • We’re about to initiate testing of the Lyra2 algorithm parameter change to see if we can achieve a result that would reduce cloud mining credits abuse by favoring GPU slightly.

Further down the road and in the discussion stage (please don't hype) are the following:

  • We are assessing BIP47 vs Stealth addresses. BIP47 looks to be more favourable at the moment.
  • We are exploring details of a possible incentivized node system to further strengthen the network and provide additional services to the network
  • Re-examining fee structure for mint and spend transactions. Currently mints are a fixed 0.1 XZC and spend transactions are free despite being computationally intensive.
