Hard to say. Given what's transpired with Cryptopia, it should have sent a shiver down the spines of exchange operators and served as a wake-up call.

From this site: https://www.grantthornton.co.nz/update-for-cryptopia-account-holders-3-july-2019/ Key points we should be taking away is as follows:

Quote
For example, an Exchange that has been hacked cannot simply be reopened.

Quote
We have certain legal requirements and obligations both in New Zealand and internationally that liquidators must meet, such as Anti Money Laundering/Know Your Client (AML/KYC) requirements when considering any repayment or return of assets.

Quote
Given the volume of correspondence we regularly receive, we cannot reply to individual correspondence. However, we will continue to provide regular updates via the Cryptopia website ( https://support.cryptopia.co.nz/csm ) , Twitter ( https://twitter.com/Cryptopia_NZ ) and Facebook pages. ( https://www.facebook.com/cryptopiaexchange/ )

Quote
We have today also updated the frequently asked questions to include answers to questions in relation to transaction listings and creditor claim forms.

B.S. They don't have more obligations than the liquidated company does. It's an attempt to scare grey/black money. May indicate they do not have all the crypto.

From the updated FAQ:

Quote
16.   How do I fill in the unsecured claim form?
In respect of filling in unsecured claim forms, stakeholders need to state their holding in crypto-assets and provide any supporting evidence of the holding that they may have.
They have all the evidence they need in the database. Again it indicates they do not have all the crypto.

Do they or the police hold (AML/KYC) docs. on the Cryptopia team?
So doubt it.
 Angry

But all you wishing to recover stolen property will have to provide (AML/KYC) docs.

I can identify with password.
And they hold the server records.

But nope let's add another hurdle to scam some more!

Update from the Liquidators !

It would seem @Lafu has been pulling the wool over our collective eyes - for the past ten weeks Lafu has had me on his distrust list but if you look at that weeks' trust list for Lafu, http://loyce.club/trust/2019-03-23_Sat_05.36h/805820.html you will see s/he *already* had the OP of this thread TripleHeXXX on his distrust list!

Even if you go back to the first week of @LoyceV 's trust list for Lafu on the 25th of January 2019 http://loyce.club/trust/2019-01-25_Fri_22.33h/805820.html, Lafu *already* distrusted TripleHeXXX!

But two days earlier, Lafu posted this about Cryptopia: [Archive]

You can edit your First post right now .
You are right with that , that i am a part of Cryptopia in form as an volunteer Moderator without any payments and also as Xrtraelv a Customer .
And I am not contracted.
I am not employed by cryptopia!

For this Cristmas day i just posted an update for the maintenance .
All i posted in this thread was and is done  volunteer and posted from myself without any instructions from Cryptopia , i just asked if i can post the things with there approval !

Update :

Thanks for the edit !

What does that mean exactly?  Well, it makes me wonder why Lafu is championing Cryptopia and the OP of this thread *but* all the while *distrusting* the OP that s/he has spent the last six months coming to the defence of.

@xtraelv since the 25th of January 2019 has trusted TripleHeXXX http://loyce.club/trust/2019-01-25_Fri_22.33h/897509.html on or about the 15th of June 2019 xtraelv removed his/her trust of TripleHeXXX http://loyce.club/trust/2019-06-15_Sat_13.30h/897509.html

*BUT*

As of the 6th of July 2019 http://loyce.club/trust/2019-07-06_Sat_10.00h/897509.html has not gone that extra step and placed TripleHeXXX on their distrust list as Lafu did ten weeks ago.

xtraelv placed myself and Lavajumper on his distrust list on or about the 3rd of February 2019 http://loyce.club/trust/2019-02-03_Sun_00.08h/897509.html just five days after I warned xtraelv that his posts are off topic in a thread I created.  xtraelv concocted as fanciful story to justify his "distrust" of both myself and Lavajumper, but the evidence is clear xtraelv slapped distrust on myself because I called out his off-topic posts.

xtraelv defiantly still hasn't removed his off topic posts.

If you go back through xtraelv's weekly trust list working backwards from the most recent: http://loyce.club/trust/2019-07-06_Sat_10.00h/897509.html you will see most of xtraelv's "distrust" list are those who trust me.

If you look just that little bit closer xtraelv seems to be using that DT1 distrust abuse as leverage to have those that trust me to remove their trust of me as evidenced by the lastest to remove their trust of me:

Vadi2323 http://loyce.club/trust/2019-07-06_Sat_10.00h/399366.html this manipulation of the trust system is something that @theymos needs to have a close examination of.

What does that mean exactly?

It means that nobody realy knows whats going on with the Cryptopia liquidation and whats realy happend about the Hack !
And as i said i have lost some amount , funds and Coins too and nobody knows what will happen with them !
And thats the case why i am have him in my distrust list also but i put him on the list earlyer when i was cleaning my List as i was coming into DT1 !
Makes normal no matters because he dont use the Forum anymore as i know !

And why you on my distrust list is just simple because i dont trust you  !  Cheers

Nice deflection.

Shame you never responded to the questions put to you.

As to your "not trusting me" - I recently said to @DireWolfM14 most of my own distrust's are tit-for-tat (including you @Lafu) - so I've now removed my distrust of you.  You can't even spin a yarn about why you don't trust me.  I guess that says more about the deception you have been pulling over these last six months distrusting TripleHeXXX but at the same time speaking up for him.

I had a custom trust list well before the new system was introduced. TripleHeXXX dislikes bitcointalk and would not be suitable as a DT. For this reason I removed trusted feedback from him and later removed him from my trust list and I assume Lafu did the same. I thought I had removed him from my trust list but realised that I hadn't whe I did a periodic review.  I was away for work most of February, March, April and off work with an injury during May so I did not have much time as normal to spend online.

You put far too much importance on yourself.  I rarely read your stuff or give it much thought. Someone messaged me about your post.

The reason YOU and Lavajumper are on my distrust list is because there is an open and unanswered accusation against you and  sexcoin since February.

But you know why you are distrusted by me because we already had this conversation numerous times.

1) You are on my trust list as untrusted - because I don't trust you. The reason I don't trust you is on your reputation thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5105851.msg49797331#msg49797331
In addition to the reasons stated in your reputation thread - You have personally attacked me on a number of occasions and encouraged others to put me on their distrust list. You have been trying to bully me into removing you from my distrust list which simply will never happen now.
You are dishonest about the reason why you are on my distrust list.

Yes I've been made aware that you have cited that post multiple times as the reason <snip>

I was away for work most of February, March, April and off work with an injury during May so I did not have much time to spend online.

It's so easy to call out xtraelv's deceptions misleading posts - since the first of February 2019 when you posted this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1669443.msg49521551#msg49521551 you have posted 323 times...

28 + 31 + 30 + 8th of May = 97 days

You didn't post between the 8th of April and 27th of April then resume posting on the 8th of May to come to TradeSatoshi's defence (post 164)

323 - 164 = 159 posts 1st Feb to 8th of May

159 ÷ 97 = ~ 1.64 posts per day (including the 30 days time off) or ~ 2.373 post when you were away for work counting just the 1st Feb to 8th of April - 67 days ...

Your 163 posts in the last sixty days works out to be ~ 2.71 posts per day.

Not much difference in the post count when you did not have much time to spend online

Using bold to shout in every post doesn't make your point valid - it just means that you are shouting...

Ah yes ... perpetuating the myth that I - Timelord2067 and I alone could have prevented the hack of Cryptopia in 2019...  Roll Eyes Out of all the dozens of alts coins that were hacked at Cryptopia (over 100 alt coins were hacked in all) you blame us - without proof... How could SexCoin (out of the over 100 alt coins that were hacked) prevent either the hacks of Cryptopia in 2018, or the hacks in 2019?  Did you happen to mention us when you gave your statement to the Police?  Roll Eyes

You only started this myth when I called you out for posting off topic in my thread.

You and @Lafu repeatedly say that you are not employees of Crytopia yet you keep pushing this myth that I could have prevented the hack of Cryptopia.  Me and no one else...

By shouting as though that will prove your point.  Stop Trolling me and go have a wank.

There was (or still is / private) chat on Discord, hosted by Rob Hex himself, aptly named "Postopia". There you could find these guys talking friendly with Rob.

Who, BTW, didn't seem to give a sht about customer's funds. Someone asked him after the liquidation start if he felt now more insulated from liability. Upon which he answered "What am I liable for?"

I haven't come across Postopia as yet, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Hex has started yet another Twitter account - I always thought a phone number had to be associated with a Twitter Account....

https://twitter.com/Triple_HeXXX [Archive] As you can see he's still got the cryptopia tag on his Twitter(s)

Remember when xtraelv and Lafu says they both "lost money in cryptopia"? and we shouldn't  doubt their innocence..

reminds me about  my friend in high school who sprinkled ink using sign pen to my classmates polo uniforms by swinging it fast with a bit of good acting it was almost unnoticeable.

when one of the professor and classmates started to look for the mischievous one, my friend joined the "pitchfork people" ---> "hey I got ink in my polo too"....he got away with it in the end.

told him he was lucky nobody noticed that the ink in his polo is different because it was in front(not all swings are perfect so he had some too), not in the back of the polo uniforms just like everyone hehe
