Here is another problem with Avalon Controller. It connected and mine through wifi, but i can't get access to the Pi unless i plug the Ethernet cable in. How do i fix it? thanks.
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Do you know what the IP of the PI is on your network? As long as the laptop or computer you are using is on the same network you should be able to connect to the PI.

Can the 741s be safely overclocked with the +1 voltage setting in cgminer?
Assuming there is sufficient cooling, which there is this time of year...

I've been running our bank of (Cool 741's at +1 since the end of Sept, no trouble. There is an additional power draw. At +1 the 8 units together draw an additional 3amps between the two 208v circuits they are on. Ambient intake here is below 60 degrees F, so PCB temps are good. The result of 0 vs. +1 across the whole array is around and average of about 60THs at '0' vs. about 62ish for +1.

On my bank of 15, most are running at 8.3 or 8.4 TH/s.  I have one that is 8.5 TH/s, and one that is 8.2 TH/s.

Across them all, I'm getting an additional 15 TH/s, which is like 2 free units. Smiley

M

EDIT: What's really interesting is the hardware error columns are lower than when at -2.

I mine at Kano's Pool because it pays the best and is completely transparent!  Come join me!

Okay  you have 15

I have a pair  I am escrowing  and one runs really hot

27/101  100% fan  does not seem good to me  I only owned 3 of these and I did have one  ay 41/101 100 fan  but the room was 90-92 f

do any of  your units run hot with say   30/100 100% fan

You have 15 at a high setting +1  so I assume your cooling is good

Okay I am escrowing a sale of 2 avalon 741's

I think one of them has an issue.

one is in a 70-75f room

temps look good

the other is in a 60-65 f room

temps are higher and intake is lower

Yes, I have good cooling.  They are all under 29/89.  When it warms up during the day, I switch the voltage to 0.

You were right, 0 isn't that much lower that +1, but at current prices, I'm happy with the few additional TH.

During the warmer months 0 didn't run any better than -2 did.  I guess they self throttle.

M

EDIT: If I see any at 100%, I change things to cool them down.  If that means shut them down because it's too hot, I do.

I just changed mine to +1 to see what I will get, room is 65f all the time so cooling is not a problem for me.

With +1, most of mine are at 8.3 or 8.4 TH/s.  Some are 8.5, some are 8.2.  All are higher than 0.

I am already seeing the GHSasc a bit higher now at +1

was at 8092 at 0
now at 8233 at +1

got to give it more time to see but I also see the fans are higher, from 32% to now 43% looking good.
Temps are also 16/80 now

After setting to +1 I got about 1TH more for my 4 741's. Also hardware error is almost 1% lower for every device. I'm a bit worried of over-pushing my PSU's, because I'm using 1 piece 2400w Delta for every 2 miners. But so far no problems.

Happy mining BTC

Yeah, I think that's too much for the PSU.

I use two of those PSUs for three 741s.

Are you aware is there some kind of protection build in those PSU's. They are running smoothly at the moment. No extra heat or other kind of visual problems.

Is it screaming like a banshee?  When I measured the current draw on a 245v line with one 741, it was pulling > 1200 watts of power.  Granted, it may not be a 100% accurate measurement.

Maybe they are designed for abuse?  <shrug>

I can't tolerate the noise when they are at 105% capacity, so I went with two PSUs to three 741s.

I got a new Avalon 741 and I cannot get it working. The interface is not saving changes. I cannot even save the password. When I enter it I cannot save any changes, as soon as I cycle the Raspberry Pi it resets to default. Would really like to get this up and running. It is not even detecting the mining hardware. I see nothing under Advanced Setup, no CGMiner stuff, nothing.

Little frustrated Sad

This is all I get when I hit Advanced Setup

For a start, set and try to save the user/pool info before changing the IP address. Personally I have an old ThinkPad set to the default Avalon address range and use that to set then up. Once user/pool info are saved/applied to the miner, Then I finally change the IP. I use DHCP so when miner reboots link to the laptop is broken but when miner is plugged into my network - voli'a! Works and shows up on the Router.

The Image on the SD card was bad. Looks like it was incomplete. I took another SD card and imaged it with the newest controller firmware and it looks like it is working now. Not sure that is a good sign for a new unit.

Cool. At least it wasn't a return of the unflashed AUC converter issue.
